which console is that CV for.. i know the one for saturn had more areas, and character, but it ran slower
and i don't know why i like this game so much it seemed to me after i played this game i was hooked on castlevania games, so i have almost all of them now

Ah, and it's funny how so many people forget important things from school/work/life, yet almost everyone will remember "up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, select, start." 30 extra lives for contra is prlly the only way I ever beat that game...and I beat it alllllllot. Yes, I realize select is only needed for 2 players...and that's how I usually played.

half life; spawned the extremly popular counter strike mod , another one of the best games , good story , still going strong
starcraft; the legendary defenitve rts that had a stellar storyline and three unique factions, popular in korea , persuaded the semi spinoff warcraft iii which is also popular
these are atleast (one of) the best RPG, best FPS, and best RTS
they all have good modability

Bleh... I guess its just something a MG fan can't appreciate. Sure, I'll give you the fact that parts of the story are really fucked up (I still scratch my head every time the "AI Colonel" goes off on that really weird evolution tangent to Raiden), but the game absolutely tore boundries down (not so much for xbox as much as PS2) and it was one of the most hyped (for the most part, duely so) sequals EVER, as I remember. Heh, I think I still have my MGS2 "!!" t-shirt from e3... And common, who can say Snake's mullet isn't cool?

Actually I'm talking about SUPER Punch Out for the SNES. While Mike Tyson was a good game, Super Punch Out took it to the next level. It is probably my favorite boxing game of all time.

I'm glad someone agrees with me. While there are games that show off their incredible graphics or superb storyline, how many games are there that will cause you to play hours and hours with simple colored blocks? This game has been released on just about every system in existance since the game was first created. Morrowwind is a great game, but it is limited to Xbox players only who are into RPGs. That's a very limited audience. Tetris can be enjoyed by both casual players and hardcore players alike, ON ANY SYSTEM! A 4 year old can play it as well as a 94 year old. You know a game is good when even when you are not playing, you find yourself seeing regular everyday things and imagining them in the block shapes of the game. Hey, it was even referenced in an episode of The Simpsons and everyone can understand the reference. How many games could pull that off?
Ok, now that I got that off my chest, I have to say that Tetris IS NOT my favorite game of all time.
Confused? Well don't be. The post asked for the vote for the greatest game ever made, not for your favorite game. That would mean the game that you think overall is the best by everyone as a collective. After all, it was voted best game overall by a gaming magazine (EGM or GamePro, I can't remember which) about a year or two ago. I wasted many a day in my youth and still do now on Mike Tyson's Punchout and Megaman II. The others I wasted many days on then and now also, but not quite as much as the first two.

All time favorite would be ultima online. That is pre-morrowind, and you could do all the things you wanted to do, and then some. Awesome game, possibly the best muliplayer online game...well, then again I havent played Everquest or Warcraft yet...

I also played the Super Mario All-Stars-version of SMB3. The graphics are better, but the... 'feeling' is gone. I still enjoy the original NES-version, though. I think SMB3 is one of the games that pushes the NES to it's limits.

If by "Great Game" we mean how much of an impact the game has made on gaming in general and our everyday lives, then i'm sad to have not seen some of these on here yet:
Doom 1 & 2 (Included on Doom3 for Xbox; Trent Reznor did the Tracks for Ultimate Doom! and Doom3 years later)
Quake 1 & 2
Wolfenstien 3D (on the 486, ya know, the 25mhz computers, lol)
Command and Conquer (the orignal ran against the original War Craft on the market)
A Link to the Past was so good, they ported it directly to the Gameboy Advance!!
And one i haven't played but has effected many around me is: Counterstrike
I know that's a huge list of FPS games, but, you wouldn't have Halo or Halo 2 without 'em, I lay money on that bet!

final fantasy 7
goldeneye64 (changed multiplayer gaming as we know it)
pokemon (following versions: red/blue, yellow, and saphire/ruby)
super mario bro's (1 and 3, i agree, smbw and [to me] smb 2's timing is a little screwy, i can ever get a good line on those)
zelda : OOT (changed 3rd person action/adventure as we know it)
counter strike (1.3 and below, 1.4> has become more and more noob freindly)
super smash bro's (melee and the n64 version)

Only idiots and 13 year old kids think Halo is the greatest game ever. Kids who had thier parents buy them an xbox becuase they couldn't afford one becuase they arn't old enough to have a job and Halo is the only game they got becuase everyone else at school had it. Not any of the other GREAT games, like anything from Nintendo, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64, Saturn, PSX, Dreamcast......

awesome game, completing The Curse Of Monkey Island on my old Amiga 500 will always remain my favorite and most memorable gaming moment..
long live fancy pants!!
p.s. anyone know if there is another monkey island game in production? in my opinion the latest one (escape from monkey island i think its called) was lame, point and clicks should be 2d i reckon, what do u think?
oh and morrowind is a good game too, best thing about that was sneaking into peoples houses and half inching stuff or finding random dudes hanging out in the woods with their little camp fires then slaughtering them and pinching their pitiful belongings...

Yeah Golden eye on n64 an oldie but a goodie and followed closely by perfect dark none of the new cames can even come close to matching their originality,
