Looks like people will have to either downsample or remove movies then

can't you just rename the files, transfer it to the xbox, then use boxplorer to rename the files back to normal?

is it that the hardrive cannot have files with long names, or that they cant transfer it the harddrive. (cause what if you find another way to get them on the harddrive i.e burn to a cd and use boxplorer?  i doubt that will work but im just asking.

Yeah I raised this point initially. There is a limitation in the filename/directory depth that could easily be exploited to deter (but not eliminate as there are ways around this!) duplication.

how is the game play for the matrix anyway, is it worth all the trouble?  I heard that there was supposed to be a huge online gaming environment for which to live/play in and that is was going to be "the game" by which all other online games would be judged.

im surprised you guys didnt find a work around for the too-long file name problem..

go get the latest build of Avalaunch [currently 0.43] and just xfer the effects directory to the xbox

newb guide:
.  download avalaunch 0.43
.  put it on your xbox
.  launch it
.  in flashfxp log into the xbox [same l/p as evox uses *xbox/xbox*]
.  make sure your "when file exists" are "auto skip" for all three upload fields (so it just skips the stuff you already have copied)
.  transfer the /effects directory from your harddrive to the xbox's /effects directory

and does avaluanch not fix it?

is it the ftp server part of the dashboard that doesn't allow it or the OS?

and what does confusion's fix actually do?

It doesn't matter what version we all use, both have the long file names. The only difference is that Confusions release fits onto a DVD-R (ripped out 3 movies) so that it is actually playable.
I'm hopeful that a fix to the filename problem on the HD will arise soon...  blink.gif

NO! FATX doesnt support the long filenames, its nothing to do with the method of getting the files to your xbox. FATX2 (avalaunches filesystem) requires support be written into the app to use long file names, i somehow doubt the creators of the game were kind enough to do that for us

You'll have to start ripping out movie files to make it fit. Maybe the movies or sound can be downsampled. I don't have the game so I don't know whether this would be particularly difficult.

I will just put my word in this...

I got the Epyslon release (which is the full DVD release). I download PPF-O-Matic along with Epsylon's Proper 40 and I patched the default.xbe when I extracted the ISO. Then, I copied the effects folder from Epyslon's Proper 40 to the effects folder in ETM and overwrote when prompted. Then, put game on HD.

So far, it works great. I have just been playing around with the warehouse level (first level). Haven't noticed any sound issues yet or level issues.

How far out of sync are we talking? I noticed a slight problem, maybe at most 1/2 second off on the voice.. its very close though.. I am not sure what the prob is.. but that is the only thing I have seen to complain about.. the game works fine if just patched correctly otherwise.. and the patching had nothing to do with the sound/sync problem.. NTSC 1.0 XBox..

Maybe this is off-topic, but don't knock a release. Releasing such a hyped game almost 2 weeks ahead of schedule is an awesome fead. The game, for some people, have some needed tweaks here and there, and probably a new patch will be released. Remember, if you downloaded the full NTSC release, you have the game. The files are all good. Just that certain patch(es) need to be applied.

wink.gif   okay here we go for all the people having trouble with the full dvd release of this WONDERFUL game, yes I do enjoy it and by god the movies kick ar$!

1. download the .iso of the game
2. Use XDFS Extract to extract it to a directory on your comp
3. Run the .bat in the fix inside the directory (for some this deosn't work so edit the bat and then manually rename the files tedious but worth it)
3. Transfer using FlashFXP (or your prog of choice) to your xbox
4. Overwrite the Default.xbe with the included one in the patch.
5. Edit you evox.ini to include the game and enjoy smile.gif

I would like to thank everone involved in this wonderful release smile.gif major cudos on getting it out there so quickly

p.s. Oh yeah use the px-matfix fix it works like a charm smile.gif find it at the usual places (I used the binaries).

Yea.. i figured all this already. However some people are even having problems a bit futher into the game using the Project X patch  sad.gif

Oh, and one more thing, if you have evox set up properly there is no need to edit it when you put a new game on the HDD.

None of the patches so far are working *fully* for me. I suspect for many others too. I'm going to try and burn the game along with the original files onto DVD. I've already ripped out some movies to see if it would work on a DVD (it didnt even load on my HD), but left the renamed files there too. So I'm going to try again... so far it has worked until the airport level where it comes up with that dirty disc error. We'll see...

I'm sure there will be more patches coming soon guys. If all else fails, I'm just gonna get the confusion release, and then shortly after that I'll buy the damn official dvd game.

As for people wanting to know whether this game is good or not, from what I've played so far, it's guaranteed fun. Surprising, cos I expected much less of this game. That soundtrack really gets you going too. I'll be honest and say that its not the most original and groundbreaking game ever (hence the 'averageness' of this game..but hey what is original these days?), but it is stylish and shiny sure succeeded in making it look cool, even if graphics are not exactly technically advanced. I'm almost certain some people will absolutely hate this game and go out their way just to try and ruin everyone elses opinion about it, but eh, what can you do. Play it first with an open mind before deciding. This game is made for pure entertainment, nothing more than that. It sure beats all the other movie-to-game adaptations in my book.

Looks like it over 40 text files that are in the main directorys wont tranfer thus the game wont load sad.gif

Names like this

particle_B2_AP_03_G_NORTH_POINT_CONCOURSE.txt

Ouch.. crap i have no idea if there is any way to fix this. There were rumours going around that this was an easy way to kick modders in the ass  sad.gif

Yeah I raised this point initially. There is a limitation in the filename/directory depth that could easily be exploited to deter (but not eliminate as there are ways around this!) duplication.

Ways around? Such as what?

Oh and Chippy, i presume it got leaked.

Well the most obvious fix was already used...

E.G. modifying the file names in the XBE itself.

You could mount it on a UDF filesystem CD and split up the chapters to make it fit, etc.

And then there is the proported change to the Xbox's OS in the BIOS which extends hard disk file system names beyond the present. This will require a new bios and will not be backward compatible.

From some of the discussions this does not look like a big change either.

---

BTW: Does anyone know if the "fix" for the confusion release is merely an attempt to get the confusion release to work on the HD?

E.G. if you run it from a DVD do things work properly w/o the fix?

THANKS.

you can use the one from the epsilon release it works for the confusion one also, just a couple of minor changes open the .bat in notepad and edit out the linen for the 3 files that arn't there though you might not have to smile.gif give it a go it should work but don't hold me to it.

umm I know how to get it to work.. however..
using the PX fix on the confusion release will not work..

just because you do the .bat file on the release.. yeah that fixes the files.. but doesn't mean sh*t if you don't put in the modified .xbe file that has the NEW NAMES of the files you just updated.

so again I guess .. there is NO patch that allows you to fix the names of the confusion release and of course a fixed xbe file that allows it to be backuped to the hard drive??

I have read through several of these posts, and haven't found a "firm" answer on this...

If someone where to have the cfn-etm release, and patch the iso using ppfomatic with the cfn-etm-fix (or whatever the name is), will the game run fine off of DVD?

Are all these problems revolving around playing the game off the HDD ONLY?

Thanks in advance to anyone who knows the answer!

Ok seems some of u are completely clueless with these patches here, so i will break them down according to how they were release and which work, etc.

For the Confusion ETM (cfn-etm) you DO NOT (!!) need the patch if your going to burn it, you only need the patch if you want to run this game from the hard drive (hd). The name of that patch is
md-confetm40_HDD_Fix_DVD5Rip made by MomDad the day of the release, but some people were saying on the airport board you may get a dirty disk error andor on the waterfill level you will receive MINOR sound problems randomly. I personally say use this release for dvd burning only, if your going to play off the hd get the Epsylon release.

For the Epsylon release of ETM (eps-etm) there is NO absolute NO way to burn on dvd unless u rip the movies on your own which would be pointless because there is a Confusion dvd release smile.gif
Now that that is out of the way and WE ALL SHOULD KNOW BY NOW THIS RELEASE IS FOR HD ONLY we can move on, there are a shitload of cracks, patches, and all the other shit going around here. Well when the game was released a day later PX (Project-X) made a patch that ONLY makes the .txt files filename change so that it can be put on xbox hd. But there always is a but  wink.gif  BUT it also ran into some problems due to a MINOR error on the default.xbe, so a good friend (and now yours because it works  laugh.gif  ) fixed it and released a fix on the px-matrix fix. I have been running this since the day i first got it and have not ran into a problem with sound, video, crashing, etc.
If you want to run from harddrive, get the EPSYLON DVD FULL and Apply The Following 2 patches, IN ORDER, AND READ THE READMES FOR BOTH.
1ST FIX
2ND FIX FOR THE 1ST FIX

So in conclusion, I advise u to get the CONFUSION release if u can only or want to burn this game due to not having hd higher capabilities or u love scraching dvd'r smile.gif And get the EPSYLON release if u want to go from hd, hope that helps smile.gif

Since I did what "Nathan561" said to do, and the game actually loads now, I am going to start playing it unless I hear otherwise... (The game would not even load until I patched the confusion dvd5rip with the confusion dvd5rip fix. Once again, I am running off of dvd-r...)
