Title: 2048-bit Rsa Encryption Key
Post by: EXCURSION-CRUSHER on January 09, 2004, 01:40:00 PM
I am interested on the 2048-bit RSA encryption key M$ uses to sign Xbox media.  How big is "2048-bit"?  What is an encryption key, text? how many numbers are in one bit?  Is it something in the games. Is it something before the game?

a bit is either 0 or 1
with 2048 bit you have 2^2048 different numbers
and according to windows calculator thats 3 x 10^616
so a 3 with 616 zeros after it...
so just too much

3...(... = 616 0's)  ,thats not very many combinations. dry.gif  it would be cool if someone made a program for the xbox that tried some of the combinations, like 25 - 50 then you would only have... shity TI-83 Plus having an overflow. mad.gif , might be a big number. Do we have (3 x 10^616) / 50 members?  you could hand out these programs like the seti programs, The person with the right combo wins 100 maybe 1000 bucks. smile.gif

say I would want to try the combo 000000...1 , how would one go about testing this combo?

hm, your no fun dry.gif   you, me, xbox-scene could make a app for the xbox and distribute it over the net and everyone in the world will want to help because there is a $100 prize biggrin.gif  we could call it rsa-eti , you know, rsa + seti. he he.  why wont anyone tell me how to test out the combo 0000...01?  I bet you $10 bucks that its right. wink.gif

wasnt there that guy who was giving out a $100,000 prize by if the combo was cracked by 2004, why didnt he just buy a super computer or a super xbox or many xboxes and crack it.

he must not of had $100,000. dry.gif

ya dude i think there's already a program for searching for that shit.. but i just thought of a good unrelated idea.. someone should make an eeprom genereator.... i'm sure it could be done and then.. who gives a fuck if you get banned.. bust out a new eeprom.. not sure if this is possible but it seems like a good idea to my drunken self

Still no numbers on the chances of being ignorant... but they're undoubted increasing.

I believe the online key is 128bits... you probably wouldn't be able to generate AND validate a valid key in your lifetime, let alone in a couple days, months, years.

Let's put 10^600 in perspective:
There are less than 10^100 atoms in the universe... that's 10^500 times less than 10^600.

WTF are you talking about, there are a lot more than 10^600 atoms in the universe. If you said types or atoms I would agree but you didnt.
I was jokeing when I said that the number wasnt that much. dry.gif
Thanks for the responses.

i like the idea, if the small % of this forum thats not noobs and some xbox app writers and some people who know how to make computer progams all teamed up we could probably make an app like the one he's talkign about and we could distribute it to a buncha people who couldget it in the form of a bios or sumthin and then it keeps trying different things and a bunbuncha people could get it and then they could start theyre xbox up with the bios or program or whatever and leave theyre xbox running for a long time (not sure how many hours/days/minutes etc it would take) and then with like 10 or so peope doing that we could try to crack it.

So the program/bios/bios that boots program could: try a combination and sign a small test program wiht that combination, reboot xbox to ms dash and turn off the feature to let u use un signed games, it would take a note weather it worked or not in a log file, reboot and sign the program with a diff combination and repeat that over and over again until it finds the combination that works or finishes searching all the numbers that the person was supposed to check.  and when it finds the right code and the test progrma is allowed to run, the test program would make a file in C drive called ENCRYPTION KEY with the encryption key in it, and save the log file, and it would show a big screen that said ENCRYPTION KEY FOUND; PRESS A TO SEE ENCRYPTION KEY, and would also beep really loudly to celebrate and to let the person know that it had finally craked the encryption key so the person knew to boot in normal mode again and get the ENCRYPTION KEY file off c drive and send it out to the head people for the project, the head people owuld test it by like burning a file to a cd as an xiso with the default.xbe or wahtever needs to be signed signed wtih the encryption key, and if it works, then the head person sneds it out to people or sumthin

Visit XBox-Linux for the details or search XBox-Scene.

The second part of your question makes no sense.
