Good Job

I wish they had a tool like this to edit the layers on your car. we could all make some nice cars if we could use something like photoshop to create the layers.
-
I'll bet this will cause cheating on xBlive no doubt. Nobody likes a cheat.

Yeah, someone makes a car that's going 300+ MPH....lol
-
This will caus ppl to cheat on XboxLive and that will make microsoft strikedown even harder on ppl running backups. i wish tools like this where never made or publiced. This will only do the modding community bad i think.

yep and i wish guns were never made so no one would die either..
-
this tool would be ok for those who like screwing around offline.
but main reason im against tools like this being released is it's gonna have mass ammount of cheating which i cant stand cheaters myself as it ruins it for everyone else thats "online".
all in all though i aint going to use crap like this myself as it's rather pointless since i take playing forza/forza2 pretty seriously since it's (Forza2) is (so far) the only reason i shelled out the cash for the xbox360 system.... so cheating for me is out of the question.. i like to earn my way to good lap times etc.

sounds cool... but cheaters suck!

Might need tobe noted that this is for Forza 1... and thank god for that...

lol that'd be horrible for the 360 and live lol, we'd see another ban hammer
-
you can cheat on forza 2 by doing a race, but let the CPU do the race for you, and you will get first place every time. Great way to earn your points, Just let it run over night every night and you will score some major deals
Hope this helps everyone out.

Yeah, but you can only do one race at a time, so unless you're doing one of the really long ones, that can't be helpful.
-
Sounds cool I'm checking this out
-
Great tool!
In no way this is crap... this tool allow us to do sth that normally we wouldnt be able to do.
So thank you!
-
Nevermind. I didn't realize that cars.ca2 is on the game disc itself.
-
as has been said before this will encourage cheating its sad because i know a vast majority of people will enjoy it legitimatly (offline) but as said before it will spur microsoft to find and ban backup users again (lets hope they only do it to the oline forza guys who are doing impossible tuning online)

Oh yeah almost forgot I kept messing around with it and messed up my saves lol. So make sure to back up the saved game b4 messing around.

This is what you dont want people your saves being messed up what you can do is after you edit your cars save the game with a car thats not edited as your primary garage car or the one that is selected to drive that way your saves wont be screwed cuz when u reload it that car wont be modified so you'll be fine have fun with this mod
QUOTE(mwbuck @ Aug 5 2007, 04:22 PM)
is there a tutorial somewhere for this? readme is kinda vague.
The application is very simple and easy to use,all you do is load cars.ca2 then edit it how u want after every edit click the save button but do not make a new ca2 as yet, then after you have completed all your mods then you click the create a modded ca2 button then u load it onto your xbox and your set to go hope this helps you.
-
I get my modded car file and put them both on my harddrive, both default and the modcar file in the the main first folder.
I patch default.xbe and it says patch succesfull. When I load the game none of the stuff done is done? I enable the supercharger for a car and it doesn't work. I change the idle rpm's and that doesn't work either.
-
Are you running PatchDefault.xbe? And anyone with cool mods post em somewhere.
-

Remember back up your original default.xbe first then rename the patched xbe to default.xbe then you should be able to do the rest lol i dont think anyone will give out their mods have fun making your own setup.
-
Ok, so should I not be running PatchDefault.xbe?
I am patching default.xbe and putting it back onto the xbox.
-
Sorry for the double post but it wouldn't let me edit.
I am also leaving the cars.ca2 in the cab file.
-
No problem lol well when you patch the default xbe another will appear by the name patched.xbe or something like that what you wanna do is copy your original xbe to another place then rename the patched.xbe to default.xbe then send modcars.ca2 to the same place where you see the xbe's have fun.
-
Alright, I just ftped the patched defaul(renamed to default) and I still have my stock cars.
Here is a pic of my Forza folder on my xbox if that helps.

Ok dude try this go to a car you like then edit it how you want then after u change somethin like rim size click the floppy save button then compress to a moddedcars.ca2 then tell me if it works it should work now just change a cars rim size then click the floppy to save then pack it as a modded ca2 then check it ok it should work.
-
Well when I change stuff and save it and then reload the modcars it saved everything I did, but it doesn't work in game. I will go try the rim thing now.
-
Alright, I tried that and it still doesn't work so I am going to explain what I do and see what is going wrong.
I open up cars.ca2 and edit the tire diameter for stock level 0 from 17 to 22. I click the save button. Then I click the created modded ca2 button. Then I take default and patch it. I rename patchdefaul to default.xbe and transfer it over to my Forza folder on my xbox overwriting my old default. Then I transfer modcars over to that same folder. Than I reboot my xbox and load it. But everything is still the same.
-

No you have got it all wrong edit level 3 parts not level 0 or else you might screw up your save that way so just edit level 3 parts and try that same rim size thing and see if it works it should work for you now

i keep getting "invalid or already patched" when i'm trying to patch the default.xbe file why is this and how do i fix it?

That message shows if you patch an xbe and then try to patch it again.
Other possibilities are:
*The xbe is different to the ones I used for testing due to the game being from a different region/the game having different versions.
*Xbe is corrupted.
Don't know if that helps.
heydockyle, i sent you an email.

If you have to patch an XBE to make this work then it's impossible to get it to work on live. Thats what I would think. I have never heard of a patched XBE working online....
-
The damn thing wont even save my changes, what the hell?
-Tried on other cars and engines, nothing saves
-Attempted to edit Engines>mazda_rx7>physics>base.xml and made the gastank size from 20 to 40. Wont save. I can't get anything to save, regardless of car and engine.
This is what i do:
-open the program
-load a fresh Cars.ca2
-edit somthing then click "save edit", then create the modded .ca2 file, still no changes. I'm telling you this program does not save anything. What am I doing wrong?
-
Overboard? shit this program does not work for me period. I tried settting it to 21, still did not save. I cant edit HP, weight or anything. I can clear out an entire XML and save it go to another XML page and return to the one I saved and deleted and its back to how it was originally, nothing deleted. I tried editing the redline from a car from 9000 RPM to 9001 RPM, wont save.
Can someone post a ingame screen-shot after editing cars.ca2? got333 has made claims of his car going 500+ MPH. I find it hard to belive if the program does not work. Unless its just me but I followed the steps in the readme.

Each time you click an xml/ini to edit, it gets loaded/reloaded from the cab, therfor it will not re-show you any changes that have been made.
Solution:
* Load/re-load the modcars.ca2 to see the changes.
By the way, it's not a bug, I was just too lazy to write the code to load info in from modded xml's/ini's.

Yes it is you doing something wrong nobody else has a problem except you which means you are doing something wrong just leave the gas tank size and edit something else, and if you still have problems as i told someone before try loading the game without modcars.ca2 and see what happens if the game freezes then the patch works and you just need to do it right and if you still have problems you can either PM me or ekszbox and we will see what we can do about it
-
I got it to work earlier, I never knew that it did not display the saved changes.
Which brings me to this point. My car goes 0-60 in 2.2 seconds and 60MPH is in 2nd. I got 9.9 accel out of my car and milked some speed off the engine. How do I get my speed a bit faster. I dont want to mess with the cars aerodynamic properties and some of this stuff i have no idea what it is. The cool thing is that I got my Toms T020 MR2 to rev to 9000 rpm and there is no redline!
So what are you guys doing to make your car go 500MPH!
-
Sounds like a crappy program... first time being on in a while. Lots of bugs or what??
Second... who the hell keeps bitching about cheating? STFU. Go cry me a river. Everyone cheats at everything. Your exams, your games, your girlfriend. get over it.
Yes capboy you make cars go 500+ mph, it was done a LONG time ago. How long has it been? Year and a half?

It's a good program, as mentioned it just does not display saved changes instantly, no bugs that I have seen. The only "bug" if you will is the readme, it's not mentioned that saved changes are not instantly shown, at least from what I read.

It's impossible to run a modified XBE on xbox live. The signature of the XBE is broken / modified, meaning it will not work on live. There will be no cheating......

If you ever contribute something to the scene/these forums maybe someone would actually place some worth upon your dogmatic, uneducated, antagonistic comments.
I will not be dignifying your existence any further by addressing your comments, as I find it an insult to have to stoop to your level.

And lower this value: FinalDriveRatio

you can also edit some of the values in the turbo settings, gotts set the max torque higher if you do that though stock cant really handle 10000 hp lol
on and on my car that did 710+ i didnt adjust the final drive, i just edited the trans mission and you can have 7 gears that kinda helps too
(i say 710+ because it was still accelerating when i hit a small bumb in the road)

Change the dragscale to 0 also... I don't know where it is exactly but it is in cars.
Actually i said sounds crappy. I like it, few bugs though, but nice layout. I was able to make my supra run the quarter even faster. 3.828 at 500mph. 212,000 hp, 228,000 torque, 28,000 psi of boost. BALLS, thanks to this nice little program... packs really fast! plus did i metion the weight? 26,000 lbs, 75% to the front.
Lets have a challenge... fastest quarter times without backing up in reverse. Backing up I can run 2.2 easily....

The issue here was the wrong xbe being loaded into the patcher (A launcher/CDX xbe in this case).
Note: Ppl who have the same problem should check the xbe filesize, it should be: 6008832 bytes.
An xbe filesize check has been added to ForzaPatch to deal with scenarios such as this one (Available with next version of ForzaMod).

OK, try out v1.1 beta & let me know if it works or not:

If your version of forza contains an xbe named forza.xbe then that should be the one to patch (5.73MB).

Next release won't require any files to be renamed anymore, coming very soon...

ekszbox, Will you be releasing the source? I would like to make and extractor/packer for custom HUDs and Menus and I like the layout of your program. Plus I'm better at modifying than making my own. Sorry my C++ skills are kinda noobish...
On another note... I finally hit 99% today... You can't go any faster on the gauge... Plus I can't finish to brong up the telemetry to actually see how fast I'm going. You fly off the track and won't reset. you don't even see your car!!!

thx alot man and keep up the good job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And ya custom looking HUD will be cool!!!

QUOTE(happykillmore @ Aug 25 2007, 07:08 PM)
ekszbox, Will you be releasing the source?..
A few caveats releated to releasing the ForzaMod source code:
* Source will only compile using C++Builder 2006 a.k.a. Borland Developer Studio 2006.
* I can not include my custom made vcl components (progressbar/buttons), which means you'd have to make do with standard buttons & progressbar or code nicer ones yourself.
If you are still interested in the source let me know & i'll look into including it in the next version.
:to everyone who gave positive feedback, thanks.
-
Thats ok with the buttons and progress bar... still interested, pm me source if u would plz. Wondering about CRC on the custom HUDS and Menus though. I'll check into that later (I've only unpacked a few files.) If I get it working this will also allow for custom RIMS!!! Shiggity shwa??? That's right CUSTOM RIMS!
I've also gotton custom tire smoke to SOMEWHAT work today... lol, blue and green smoke. lawl. It's in the lightmap.dat in the track folder 256 by 260 pixels, I don't remember which is width, DXT3, no mips, zLib compressed. No idea what the long int at the beginning of the file is, but it is the same for every track i believe.
I was trying to make tracks dark but it's clear to me now that it is in the .xb2 which I have unpacked before. I remember seeing a bunch of lightmaps and volume textures etc in there.

Seems like a good idea but how long will it take you to get all that code together and working because custom rims would be nice i was thinking of that idea but im not that good yet still learning, but if you could get this project workin really soon that would be good

As long as I can use the source that ekszbox has... not too long, want some help though. I'm going to try to intergrate it into the existing program as much as possible. Hopefully ecksbox can help me put it into the GUI. The biggest problem is resolutions once again. The images have to be extracted from the xpr's. The first version will be quite limited. But rims and menus will definitely be included. As far as driver textures and other complex textures may not be included.

v1.1 (which inc. ForzaMod source code) can now be procured from xbins (thanks to Iriez/xbins)
