Dude, I got a video of it booting up - ITS AWESOME!  NICE WORK!

THe only thing, notice some of the colours are off - I set them all to blue though.

Also, the BIOS that I am using is Xecuter2 4979.06, this SHOULD work with all BIOSES, because the hex values are in the same place.  Maybe it changed in 1.6 bioses though.

Look at the colours at the beginning and the glow...
MPEG Video

Here's another video, of camera angle 4 (furthest away)...

What The Camera Angles Are
I thought I'd explain this, as it isn't explained in the readme yet...

The camera angles range from 1 to 4, 2 being the default.  The higher the number, the further away the flubber AND the Xbox Logo go (on the Z-Axis).
Here are 2 video demonstrations:
Camera Angle 2 (MPEG)
Camera Angle 4 (MPEG)

There you have it.  On camera angle 1, I think the Xecuter2 text touches the XBOX text (or comes VERY close to it).  I still prefer 2, it's a good size.  Whatever angle floats your boat, go for it!

Newbie here I tested it on evom7 pre mode with all blue logo 60% fan speed and LBA48 support Boot dvd=default.xbe 1st=C:\Unleashx.xbe 2nd=C:\evoxdash.xbe 3rd=C:\xboxdash.xbe on a AMD and Xecuter 2.3B Lite
I tried the BBBBBBB and I get different colors and the camera is zoomed in to close? Also tried it on different file size 256 and 512 same results? blink.gif

the bios size should not make any difference at all. From what I seem you forgot to enter the value for the camera so that may be your problem.

clogicgmather: you might wanna add some error handling

Marco7 the problem is because the default value is specified as 0.125, have sorted that now, Will take a look this eve, thats basically what i knocked up over the weekend and am in the process to moving house, will take a look when i get back from work. Will ensure input validation and check out the colour settings. Can you describe where the colour is different (i think some of them i plain just havent found all the right osffsets to all the colours) Personally im gonna ditch the intial camera position setting, in favour of the option of a white background.

From the videos I posted before, you can see what colours differ (the initial blob is red, then goes to purple later on, and the glow is green).

Ive sorted the issues arising from the previous posts (will update rar this eve) I cannot find where that (green) glow colour is located in the bios, if anyone knows please PM as ive been unable to find it, ive checked the threads in this forums to no avail.

also update the readme.txt file as it still lists it only will load RGB (i think you said that the person hosting the file has the newest version anyway)
i'll get a video of what i plan to do with this later tonight done up
awsome work, i was wondering how long it would take for someone to make something like this

currently (this may be what you were talking about already) the flubber changes it's color partway through the animation
i used the same xboxkrnl.img file and created 3 different cam angles to see which i liked most, for some reason cam 3 left my colors at green rather than changing them to blue (maybe i only entered 6 color values rather than 7, i'm going to redo it)
and for cam 4 it didn't change my image, it looked like a 2 ( i probably fucked up here too, gonna redo this one also)
*edit yeah i got it all working, user errors i guess, and lack of user error checks :Þ

this is THE greatest bootup animation ever, a must see
http://psilocybe.emo...m/psilocybe.avi
*from a premade bios, i'm sure there are better out there from source and from x3bios live config

i had to use xbtool, hex editor, flubber tool, and logox2 to accomplish this, but it was well worth it as you can see.  plus who else *currently* has a reverse shadow doorway?
actually i may just end up taking the X out of the thing completely, yes that shall be my next task, remove everything but the flubber in the begining and have the reverse shadow in the end
*damn thing didnt' work out the way i wanted at all

Here's a vid of the bios in action... hehe...
Wicked BIOS Video (Blue)

You may notice it becomes slightly purple... I'm fine with that, it'd be nice to fix... probably another value to change (like inside flubber glow instead of outside).

when using the 4983 bios xbtool said it was an unrecognized kernal so i wasnt sure if it would work with it. Can i still change the colour presets with xbtool with 4983 bios?

xbtool tool will not work with 4983 because part of it is encrypted. You will not be able to change the logo color either since the code for it seems to have been removed.

Ive also found the locations of the camera, just having a slight difficulty maniupulating the dat#a in a meaningful way, there are also ALOT of values that need changing so it might take a while to code in the new modifications, in 4981.06 the camera offsets begin at 0x753DC

Great work guys.  If we impliment a Win32 GUI, we can add all of the features mentioned above.

The program should:
1) Load BIOS/Kernel

2) Config Blob/Fog Colours
3) Color Mod (Change the X-Logo Colours, like XBTOOL)
4) Change Camera Position

5) Export BIOS/Kernel

I sent clogicgmather the files and info he needs to do that using the DLL version of xbflash I made for use with xbtool. It's extremely simple to use, if he chooses to use it.

re linux:
Xbflash won't work with linux because it uses the ms win32 cab libraries; that's why you haven't seen anly linux bios tools.

GLADE is a gui builder for GTK.. personally I suggested wxWindows since it's more portable (yeah, you can get GTK for windows too.. still wxWindows from the ground up is cross-platform)

uhm clogicmather did you just add the compiled version of the tool with your distribution?  That's gonna make it hard for a lot of linux users to use since any glibc differences == won't work.

Assuming i can get xbflash support working expect another release tomorrow. Not sure how the animations gonna work, for now its presets but i can see an easy way to allow slightly more user interaction i the process if i think i have understood the way this is working correctly.

Use XBTool to unpack the BIOS you want to modify, and put flubbertool.exe in the folder it creates.  Next, run the tool and input the values.  Use XBTool to repack the BIOS, and flash it to your modchip.

Ok the I hit a snag with the scene geometry so here are the the instructions for the flubber color

goto 0x5d9a7 and from there overwrite the values with: e8 b6 34 fe ff 90 90

now goto 0x40e62, it should be a bunch of 0's. From there enter the values: C7 41 44 00 00 80 3E C7 41 48 00 00 80 3E C3

Ok now to explain how to change. the bold numbers the pointer locations I did red (44) first then changed green (48). The values for each are beside them I made thenm italic for easy viewing. The value for B is still in it's regular spot. I hope to have the scene geometry problem worked out soon but I'm not sure if I will.

w00ty w00t w00t I'm happy to announce another breakthrough I've succesfully been able set all the values of the fluber color RG and B there is no more need for one of them to be set to 1.0. I'm using the 4981.06. I'll going to try and do it for the scene geometry and fog as well and then I'll post instructions. As far as implementing it into clogicmathers tool I'll discuss it with him once I finalize everything.

YES! finally i can do what i've wanted to, been too lazy to try what was suggested to try before

so which one of those values is for blue then? how about alpha value?
and this will probably sound dumb, but just the values that are in bold are teh RGB?  and i thought they were stored backwards (BGR)

No the values in italics are the values you need to edit, the pointers can now effectively stay in place and you just fill in the values (floats reversed) for the different RGB.

clogicgmather,

I thought I post here since this seems  faster/more reliable than emailing you.  tongue.gif

The xbflash dlls have been updated. No interface changes, just improvements and a bug fix, so your existing app won't need to change. I've also uploaded the full source to the latest version.

Get it here:

I'm not really sure how many people are willing to do this but I gonna post the instructions to be able to fully control the RGB of the flubber and the scene geometry. The flubber part isn't hard however the scene geometry will require changing ~65 bytes but after you do that it alot easier to change the color whenever you want. I'm also going to post a video of the result.

did those 65 bytes end up working out or no?

also i thought i knew what i was changing with the string  C7 41 44 00 00 80 3E C7 41 48 00 00 80 3E C3, but i reread what you and clogicmather said, and now i'm confused
the italics contain 5 numbers, what exactly are they for?
i thought that the bold were the numbers i was supposed to change, but when i re read everything i confused myself

clogicmather, yoshiro, or anyone else, what are teh chances you could make the settings in flubbertool optional so that if i only wanted to change one part of the file i could?
i'm running into some problems right now when trying to alter some different parts of the bios with different cam angles
right now i'm just trying to set cam angles in the krnl img then hex from there, but they don't seem to like to boot up when i do this, i get now video or audio, it woudl be nice if i could just mod only the cam angle to one of the 15 with the working bios that i currently have already working rather than all teh disapointments of my failures after all the hex editing

FlubberTools 2.0

Hi, it's me again.

I downloaded Flubber Tools v2.0 and it doesn't seem to work for me.

Everytime I try it it gives me this message "cannot find or extraxt xboxkrnl.img"

Anyone know what the problem might be?

Even if rename the bios to bios.bin or put the xboxkrnl.img I still get the same error message.

Any help is appreciated.

you need to unpack the bios with xbtool. this will extract the 3 compunents on the bios: xboxkrnl.img (kernel), 2bl.img (2bl) remainder.img (remainder)
copy the anim editor to the new dir and edit the anim the way you want. when done, repack the bios with xbtool and save it where you want.

the app cannot edit the kernel while the bios is packed

funny, i have html code turned off, it should have clearly been [brag] in bb format

anyway here is what i put together tonight for my new black and white bios with the x3
http://psilocybe.emodchips.com/x3.avi
it's not quite the same feel as you get with the x2 bios and modding it all fully with hex and other tools from the scene, but man it looks awsome, plus i get random cam angles at each boot if i want

blink.gif it went all bunta on me... It repacked and shit like it is meant to but when I loaded my bios onto my xbox and when I turned on my xbox with my new bios it was a white screen with the sound in the background and then when it was supposed to show the xbox logo it turned the screen to black with a pixelated Xecuter2 logo on the bottom and then it went into evox  blink.gif  weird.... Any ideas on why that would happen?
Title: New Tool For Bios Animation Colouring
Post by: Psilocybe on June 23, 2004, 06:42:00 AM
well by feel i meant feeling from doing it all with the hex values and programs made by individuals in the scene
for right now the green is there due to the way the x3 configs the bios, but keep in mind this is an early build of the x3 config system, we are doing lots of heavy beta testing for it right now
some of the cam angles i've seen that have been done with hex edits are not available as you have probably already noticed by my video, esp zooming cam angles
also there is MUCH more to the x3 than simply chaning the bios on the fly, maybe i should post a video in the xecuter section tonight to show off more of what the dash has to offer rather than just the simple bios tweaks

Wait.... X3 is a chip right? or is it a bios?  I have a Xenium chip with X2 bios, will I be able to use x3 bios?

Anyway... I use 4983.06 and when I edited 4981 to be the different colors, some of my back ups didn't work, so I said screw it and when back to my 4983.06 ... this animation coloring tool works with 4983.06 but I wont be able to change the logo right?

Thanks.

there is an x3 chip and an x3 bios
the x3 bios is 1meg, so a chip that can hold 1meg will boot the x3 bios, but it's pointless to do so, as you will not be able to use ANY of the features of it other than what you can already do with the x2 bios, in other words you need the x3 chip to run the x3 bios to potential

This tool is great... I made a blue background (the three scenes), with a yellow flubber and red glow first and last.  It looks pretty sweet then it fades to the green "X" logo, only wish I could change that on X2.4983.06.

That would be awesome!  I'd use that feature for Sure!

The instructions for that are in this thread, just look back a couple of pages

edit: question to the people using this tool, how many would be interested in a version which runs on the xbox and is freely distributable? I've been looking for a way to get my hand dirty with the openxdk (fooled with it before then started using xdk). Even if there are many interested I may just make it for fun.

is it possible to make the flubber animation white and black?
if so can someone post the values I can enter please.
or let me know what tool to use to use.

oh yeah and for anyone having trouble adding your logo with logox2 while using flubbertool, these are the steps I took.

get a fresh x2 bios I use x2.4981.67

-open xbtool, and make all the changes you need to at this point. close xbtool
-open logox2 and apply your logo
-open xbtool again and unpack your bios.
-make your changes with flubbertool
-repack your bios with xbtool and you are done.

these are the steps I had to figure out, any other way didn't work for me.
if this was already posted just ignore it.

Very useful tool, but I've got a question... I set an m7 bios to have a blue ani with white background, and it looks beautiful when first booting up, but if I do a soft reset, like ejecting a game, it's a different story... The only part of the background that ends up white is in a V shape above the X, the rest is black. I get the same thing if I turn off the animation and try to do a white background. Is that a known problem, or am I just having a weird problem?
