This does not work for me, I repeated everything over and over. Whether I load the misson from the memory card or the hard disk ( My box is already modded and running evox, so i can ftp, i'm testing it on my xbox so my friend can use it on his unmodded xbox) I always get the error, unable to load saved game.

QUOTE
Okay of course IM a NEWBIE. But I like details im pretty good with computers and new to the xbox mod stuff, I have read lots of info on this stuff and I need more information to start with making a backup copy of mechassault (the game I will use). How? what program do I need? Do I need a dvd drive or dvd-r? What file name sould it be. And when I get to the a file to the mem stick is it the file i backed up or the hack file I can get from a site ie. "MechassaultwithEvox.rar" Thats my main problem, I found a site "http://quikboard.com...xxx/part1.html" hack tutorial, it seems to be great but no deatils on file extensions and the beginning part of making the backup file. Also when I do back up on my pc what files should I copy? etc.
THANKS ALL
I advise you to don't use that tutorial cuz it's old and can harm your system. Also you are very unclear in what you exactly want. do you want to "make" a backup or are you want to "run" a backup?

to make a backup copy over the game to the hd using gameriping tools. then copy that files over to the hd of your pc and create an xbox iso which then you can burn. In order to use these game tools you must have a modded xbox with a complete replaced bios. If you want to mod it using software exploits you must have a kernel that supports pbl. head over to the the dashboard exploit section and do some reading. The UDE is the best and most popular exploit nowadays.

-I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING YOU DO OR ANYTHING THAT IS SAID HERE, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I've seen this exploit come up the last day or so and I've been fooling around with it and everything, there was really no clean cut tutorial out there with everything you need to know, lots of people were asking for it. If you don't need it then ignore this and don't flame

I'm going to guide you guys through a simple tutorial on how to play backups on your xbox with no modchip, using the new 007 hack/free-x exploit

<<<<<<<(THIS IS ONLY FOR v1 xbox's)>>>>>>>>

(i will explain w/ 007, but it is indeed possible w/ mechassualt too) :D

-I HIGHLY reccomend updating your dash w/ xbox live before you try the exploit.

- you will need to first obtain a great file called "007aufsavewithEvoxInstaller", you can put this on your megaX memory card,  or what i suggest have a friend FTP it to his MODDED xbox under E:/TDATA and E:/UDATA  , i just ftp'd the 007 hacked save file to both and it worked fine, but im sure only one is needed. Next using the origianal MS Dashboard you can place the 007 hacked file onto a memory card. Once that is done, place the memory card in the unmodded xbox

-next you obviously need the Original 007:Agent Under Fire game, you load a mission and select the xbox hard drive to get the save game file from. (if u did the previously steps correctly the screen should flicker and then the "evox dashboard will appear"

-now you can ftp into you xbox and apply the free-x exploit it's self. You can connect the xbox to your router, or use a crossover cable and connect it directly to your pc's nic.
Get the ip address under system utils>settings, and then ftp in.

-You should see letters of the drives when you ftp in, first of all lets do the free-x hack. First you need to get the Free-x exploit file, which you can get ***EDITED***

in there there is a bert and ernie file, just extract those onto your pc

-now go back to your ftp client and click on the C:/ drive, now you'll see a  C:/fonts folder, change that folder to fonts.old just for backup, now go back into the C:/ folder and make a new folder called "fonts", now ftp the bert and ernie file into the font folder that you just created.

damn is this easy or what.

-now for the last thing, you must obtain the
LOADER.v1.00-FX.XBOX-COMPLEX file, extract it onto your pc.

-now go back into your ftp, and under C:/ you will transfer via ftp the default.xbe (DO NOT RENAME) and the "!loader" folder, make sure you transfer both of them.

Now restart your xbox without the 007 game in the drive and it should boot to the Complex loader screen
press the white button to load the games :D

I hope this tutorial has helped you, it really is a simple exploit, but all the info for the newbs might be a little overwhelming. Please post if this tutorial assisted you in any way, thx

nice man, i already did the 007 trick to flash the TSOP, but nice tutorail man... im sure lots of people will be glad to see this, i guesse the next step would be to see a RAR pack of 007 hack + xdays + complex = to 1 rar file with a toturail like this or one like!

Nice Job!

so if you wanted to do this without buying a Mega-X memory card, you could unlock the xbox harddisc, copy the font files, and then proceed.  correct?

OK I'm confused.  I thought you can only flash the BIOS if you solder 2 points in the motherboard.  Is the 'complex loader' referring to Evo-X or a similar 3rd-party Dashboard?  How can you run alternative dashboards and game backups without flashing the BIOS?  arrrrgh!

sorry if I am making this worse, but there is a lot of information, misinformation, and confusion going around...

Since I don't know anyone with a modded xbox, can't afford a mega-x key or modchip at the moment, and my PC case is already open, it wouldn't be too bad to open the xbox and connect an ide cable i guess.  a bootdisc like dreamcast had would be best, but I dunno if that is worth trying to wait for.

Forgive me or Flame me for what I'm about to ask. This only allows you to play games you have on your HDD, correct? It won't let you play disc backups will it?

this has absolutely nothing to do with flashing the TSOP

I'm so confused.   rolleyes.gif

It seems like this overwrites the MS dashboard, and the modified dashboard that you insert is allowed to run because of the BIOS bug that is exploited through the altered fonts... maybe... ???? uhh.gif

I'm not sure if that is anywhere near correct.  is it? blink.gif

Hi there,

Please don't flame me too hard. I've been searching the forums for a couple of hours now, and I'm having a hard time finding the information that I need.

007aufsavewithEvoxInstaller - where can I find it? I was able to find the complex loader with less difficulty.

Thanks!

I have found a folder entitled "LOADER.v1.00-FX.XBOX-COMPLEX" on FTP, but there are three files in it: one is an MSInfo file, one is a WinRar archive and one is an SFV file. I assume that I should extract the WinRar archive and follow the instructions in the tutorial, but must I do anything with the other files in order to get this exploit working?

SFV files allow you to verify that RAR files are working.  using WinSFV [iirc] you can load the SFV and use it to check the rest of your RAR files.  Then if you have one bad downloaded pack in 40 you can download just that pack instead of all 40.

I've been looking all over for a good tutorial.  The .nfo the Free-X author released was crap.

Just 2 questions:

1)  I have a v1.0 XBOX, should there be any problems?  (I hear contradictory statements all over this forum, but you sound like you know what you're talking about)

2)  Must I do anything to my TSOP?  Is the installer gonna flash it, or will it remain unchanged?

Thanx again.

ok, i dont have a fonts folder on my c: drive already, so i made one and tossed good old bert and snuffle into it.  Now here is what i want to know

1. Do I put the xbox.xtf and xboxbook.xtf into the font folder
2. For the Peonix version of the exploit do i put bert and snuffle into the fonts folder.
3. Do I need to rename the default.xbe folder to xboxdash.xbe
4. Would it work if I took a diffrent app/game and tossed them into the 007 save folder on my hd if i just want to open thoese?

Thank  you

Don't use this tut anymore. Complex Loader is old news, theree is MUCH better out there now.

As a side note, I think it's time to retire a lot of the tut's posted around. Most of them tell you to use obsolete SW or do downright dangerous things (Like this one that tells you to use the free-x fonts!)
