let me say it again WOW...that tv guide is the shit congrats to whoever found that out. I would love to see it developed to look nice such as what windows media center edition offers. Only things i found buggy in the 3-17-2003 release was it takes awhile to play an mp3 when i click it and also if u get a full listing of the tv guide it hangs when u click tv guide. I got about a days worth of all the programs and channels and it was fine. Other than that what a great feature  beerchug.gif

The delay when clicking an mp3 as been there since 2.3 was released.. That's when I noticed it anyway.

I have no delay in the official 2.3 release, only some CVS builds after it (definitely in the 3-17 build).

if you are experiencing a delay in ANY type of media playback, perhaps you should read the documentation...

the only thing that delays any playback is either 1. a network problem, or more likely 2. a cache setting that is too high for your liking...

I suggest you sit down and take another gander at your config.xml file, or peruse the sourceforge site for xbmp and look at current bugs (and ones that have been closed because they are either fixed or bogus).

hey...i update xbmp daily and i am a great fan of it... however i can't get this damned thing working...i  open up my cmd prompt then drag xmltv.exe into the cmd prompt and press return, however it says that blank is not a valid command and lists all the commands i can use
so i enter in tv_grab_uk on the new line and i get the message that it is not recognised as a internal or external command...
so please how do i do this????maybe you could write a short tutorial? (i don't use cmd ever)
thanks

yes i have unrared them all and have since found out that it is simply the program that isn't working. I tried it with tv_grab_na --configure and it worked fine...just doesn't work for the uk..oh well it might be updated!

i found out how to kill the MP3 delay in version 2.3

In the config.xml file...its a tag towards the end that says "Prefill cache before play in %" or something like that, and there's a number there...mine was set at 10 default.  I turned it to 0, and the delay when clicking mp3's is totally gone, they play immediately now

Yeah, I noticed that too.  First tried 1, then 0.  All my videos have a 3-4 second delay in the beginning tho.

You're getting a 3-4 second delay with the precache set to zero?

My videos and tunes all start right away now...

That is isn't included at the moment but i'm sure it will be soon... these are the countries included so far:
QUOTE
These are programs which fetch listings from somewhere 'out there' and
output them in XMLTV format.  Currently grabbers exist for the
following countries:

United Kingdom     tv_grab_uk, tv_grab_uk_rt
Canada and United States                 tv_grab_na
Austria and Germany  tv_grab_de
Sweden and Norway  tv_grab_sn
New Zealand     tv_grab_nz
Finland    tv_grab_fi

Contributions from other countries are welcome, of course.

yeah that would be amazing...if you read the cvs notes they say they are going to try to do this...but they say that this will be a very hard thing to implement...but i think they only say that to big them selves up in a way biggrin.gif

in my opinon this is the GOD app for the xbox... i use it instead of evox dash now biggrin.gif
i just wish they would intergrate these things:

1. When using dvdremote if you type 123 then it should turn off the xbox. This is definately possible as they can just link it to the shutdown.xbe

2. A sleep setting so that after a specified time (eg from 30-3hours) the xbox will turn off... this would be especially good as i could go to sleep listening to my mp3z!!!!!

Oh well only about another 2 hours wait till next cvs release... I wonder what that will bring?

1) What do you think the red icon (std skin) on the main page is for?
2) <shutdowntime>30</shutdowntime>, self-explanatory wink.gif

I agree, this is the GOD app..
HOWEVER, editing the config.xml is a pain, and all settings should be accessable through the main application.

You have to enter the whole command on one line.

CD (change directory) to the xmltv folder then;

"xmltv.exe grab_tv_uk --configure" (without the " of course tongue.gif )

You could even put this into a txt file and rename it to xmltv_setup.bat (make sure file types are shown in fileanames).
Run the bat from the same folder as xmltv.exe folder.
