Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: manturafs on June 25, 2006, 08:43:00 PM
Ok Guys, sorry for the delay, but it's finally here! This is the release for three major MODS: ExMark, LiveMark, and most importantly Live Marketplace.

The two MarkMods (ExMark and LiveMark) incorporate the Live Marketplace mod. Live Marketplace allows you to download content such as themes, wallpaper packs, sound packs, splash logos, scripts, etc straight from your xbox. You can then access many of the items from other sections of XBMC such as appearance or My Scripts. The only catch is you might have to be patient since some of the scripts to access the content found at www.tintense.com can take a little bit of time. Just wait or do another click!

Now for the differences between the two packages. ExMark is for people who want to keep the Extras blade as it is in the latest MC360 release. This just adds the Markplace features and a button to access it. LiveMark is for the people who want the KaiBlade back. It integrates Marketplace while showing the xlink kai information. And for all those content builders, upload your stuff to www.tintense.com!!! tongue.gif

ExMark Information/Downloads:
http://www.tintense....ils.php?file=52

LiveMark Information/Downloads:
http://www.tintense....ils.php?file=51

For people who want to know the details from the last release, the changelog includes:

Very good work, I have just had a quick go with the extra's version, and can report all seems to be working okay.

To be honest i am trying to steer clear of any mods until a final version has been released by BB, but i might keep yours on for now, it is probably going to be one of the more popular ones.

I have been watching the topic and i know a few people have had input into this project so thanks to all of you, and also i was wondering have you had any dialogue with BB as regards integrating this into the official build?

Cheers and good work
Norm

Hey great work so far!

But i have a question: When installing this mod do i overwrite my current  media folder with the LiveMark media folder?

THANKS!

yes, you can overwrite the folder.  it won't replace anything.  it's just adding some icons i used for the marketplace. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)  The only Livemark folder that will actually overwrite files is all the PAL/NTSC folders...if i remember correctly.

glad you like it!

Yes. Great work manturafs. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but if it's anything like the last one, it will be pretty good! I will be trying out the LiveMark edition.

Thanks!

Great work everyone involved.

I've uploaded a Funky Drummer sound pack but messed up the title, and no description is showing on XBMC.
Is it possible to edit it? Anyway, i hope you like it.

af, what version of T3ch and MC360 are you using?  i also made sure it worked with the MC360 font, but maybe try using the default font instead with your install.

mazola:  i saw your small description and just copied it over to the full information.  let me know if that is enough!  thanks for the file too.  i like it.

ed, i agree, just PM me since I want to talk about the next steps.

Works great! I only have one problem; for some reason it won't install my sound pack correctly (the Nintendo DS one). Has anyone else tried this sound pack?
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: Oen386 on June 26, 2006, 09:28:00 PM
A few issues I have found.

First some sound packs don't have their "Start" sounds included. Like the ones from DraGhost. Maybe I missed them somewhere? Also wouldn't it be cool to have an option to enable/disable the start up sound for a sound theme? (Like it would autoinstall when I choose the sound theme, but for people that don't want a start up sound they can turn it off.)

Also some wallpapers, like the Halo 3 one. Don't work. It simply jumps to "Installing Content..." it never downloads it seems.

Also the I tried the DS theme.. it said downloaded and installed.. don't see it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) So not working for me either sorry.

Lastly there should be a way to choose where the pictures/wallpapers download. Like how MC360 is setup now I can only browse for wallpapers in directories I have set in "Pictures". Well I don't have E/Apps/XBMC/Skin/MC360/Media/ as one of those directories. Go Figure. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) So it would be nice if we could choose download locations for wallpapers and icons.

hmm, edwin, let me test that one out.  i think your problem might be related to some of the issues OEN386 has.  My guess from looking at those two files is that the filename has a space in the file.  i don't know if my hypothesis is true, but my guess is the files can't have a space in order to download.  i will test this soon and let you guys know the results.

as for the location, i'm totally wtih you OEN.  it's a feature I want but don't really know how to do.  i'm learning basic python to just learn how to manipulate a script to have this content.  i don't want to promise anything since i'm not sure if i can deliver, but that is one feature i desparately want along with preview pics.  seriously though, not sure if i can.

what i would like input on though is if i can't do it.  would you like the wallpapers to download to media or would you prefer a different folder such as E:\wallpapers or E:\icons.  if it's e:\wallpapers, i will have to create a different script to handle themes which have to go to the media folder.  anyway let me get to the problem at hand. smile.gif

oh also, as for start sounds, i don't think sound packs can handle that so that's why it's not included.  i believe that sound is part of xbmc, not skin related.  for example bursting bubbles comes with xbmc but also doesn't have a custom sound.  all that and the thing about choosing start sound or not would be an xbmc thing i think.  let them know!  maybe they can put it in!

I like the quick reply.

I don't think I said it, but the addon is great. That was just a list of my suggestions.

Is it possible for you to fix the problems with the current wallpaper packs and sounds soon?

Also my script gets stuck at "installing content" quite often. Maybe because of the file names?

I am just hoping most of these get ironed out, if so then I think this addon will take off like wild fire. Lots of my friends loved how in other dashboards you could download new skins in seconds, and this really adds that feature with some style.

I think E:\Icons E:\Wallpapers would be a great idea. Also incase people need to reinstall XBMC it won't remove their download wallpapers and Icons.

Another suggestion.. if there is a way to check if someone has a wallpaper pack/sound/icon already? Like have a * or check or something next to the item so we don't download it again. Just a nice touch, something that  would be cool, but not necessary.

oooh nice suggestion.  i'll have to test it out to see if i can.

also, yes, i was right about the filenames thing.  for future reference no spaces in filenames and i will make a note of it on the website as well.  since i was testing them, nintendo DS sounds and the halo 3 black have been fixed and will work.  i'm working on the rest of the content as we speak.  thanks again for the suggestions.  very good ideas.

Gamesaves support taken out? Any particular reason? Also having various problems with scripts, but it could just be it taking forever. I see no hard drive or network activity (aside from me pressing the button) when I try to trigger the button that initiates the scripts. I've been trying to investigate this myself, but teaching myself html and python as I go. Any info would be appreciated. If you could tell me how to make the gamesaves script work again I could probably figure the rest out from there.

are you connected to the internet?  if you are on the media blade, do you see the movie trailers button?  if you don't, then you won't see the marketplace button either.  let me know if you have a connection or not.

Yes i am connected, when i add the Mod, restart XBMC it looks the same.

Post by: manturafs on June 27, 2006, 10:16:00 AM
ok, if you see the move trailers icon, you're right.  the only thing i can think of is maybe you're replacing the wrong files?  let's try overwriting the files again.  make sure all the PAL contents of the MOD overwrites the MC360 PAL files.

if you are still having trouble, maybe switch to PMIII and try installin it when the skin is not active.  keep me posted.

also, i figured out what's wrong with the avatars not downloading.  right now it's set to download to Q:\skin\mc360\media\icons.  Unfortunately, like me, that folder doesn't exist and the script can't create it.  therefore it just hangs at installing content because it can't find the folder.  all you have to do is create an icons folder in media and the downloads will work.  i'll work on fixing that if i can in the next release.

do i just copy over your zip file or do i need to delete something, when i just replace with the files u have supplied i see the movie trailrs and all the original icons
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: manturafs on June 27, 2006, 12:27:00 PM
you need to open the zip file.  inside the zip you should see a MC360 folder.  when you ftp to your xbox, navigate to xbmc, then the skin folder, and copy the entire folder there.  Not the zip, just what is inside the zip.  the ftp should then ask if you want to replace certain files, hit yes.  if it doesn't ask you, then you are copying the files to the wrong place.

Evening All

Just added Arkanoid sound pack. I've turned the volume down a bit on this one. If there's any wallpaper creators listening out there some matching backgrounds would be nice. (I might have a go myself, but there's some artistic people out there who could probobly do a lot better)

Hope you enjoy

"mc360 Live Contents" Available - Other Market place MC360 Project

First off Great work!, but I noticed there are two different options for adding a Market Place to MC360. I am not sure which one to use, and was wondering if a decision was made in associating the projects. I haven’t seen anything else about this, but I think it would be a great idea. This might have already been addressed and I missed it.

the wink was for knowing it was personal information haha.

as for your script, are you using xbmcmail?  or is this a different script?

also, audi, i'm not sure if textures.xprs are completely out.  i think the in the future those will be released which will only blades to be edited.  for now, you're right, wallpapers are better, but in the future textures could replace wallpapers since it edits the blades as well.
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: remedee on June 30, 2006, 02:38:00 PM
All drawbacks aside, I still love the idea of the xpr packs because they allow you to change the themes right on the appearance tab. The intergration of the wallpaper packs is nice, BUT, you still have to go to System -> Appearance -> Themes and select just the blade theme? Then go back to the Guide and through 5 more screens and locate the folder your themes are in, hope they're named properly. Nevermind digging through the folders for a novice user etc. Then you still have to back out of all of the settings options to see how everything looks. I can't possibly be the only one that thinks selecting the Theme from the Appearance tab is MUCH easier. AND you can still use custom images on individual blades if you like.

I'm not at all knocking the efforts of Team BB in incorporating the wallpaper management, but I still think it has some serious drawbacks when compared to the xpr method. I know that XBMCTex is compiled with the xdk, but that issue is being worked on as well. Guess I just feel the downloading and installing of one xpr file can be made FAR more user friendly than trying to determine a "default" download or theme directory etc.

Even if Team BB wanted to keep the xpr files locked, why not release the skin itself in Skin packs, I.E. MC360, MC360 Glass, MC360 Carbon. Then allow the setting of the themed xpr files? There wouldn't be any additional work required on the part of the skin, other than using the Carbon/Glass images in the default Textures.xpr file. The rest of the skin would remain intact, so there would be no need to code multiple versions and would allow the Team to maintain their intellectual property and not have their Carbon/Glass xpr files exposed.

I dunno, I'm rambling on because maybe I'm missing something. I don't understand how it could be easier for the Team to completely code a wallpaper manager from scratch, rather than just explain how to properly set up the xpr files for easy distrobution. Oh, and on that note, if someone feels that distributing xpr files is not legal because they are created with XBMCTex, which is compiled with the xdk, then how come the skin itself is freely available for download?
</rant>

I really like the idea of the Marketplace and think you guys are doing a great job so far. I'm just not ready to give up completely on the idea of selecting my themes or packs from the appearance tab, rather than going 10 steps to travel 2. If the xpr method fails miserably, oh well, but if it finally becomes a viable option, I think the automated downloading and installing of themes will be made far easier for developers and end users alike.

I posted some suggestions in another thread but I'd like to post them here as well...
Here's my suggestions of some Scripts that should be built into "XBMC live marketplace"

First would be to copy what TiVo and TiVo Online Services can do.
That's:
Include a TV Guide and recording interface for your TiVo
Yahoo! Photos = My Photo's Online
Yahoo! Weather = XBMC already has it built in!
Yahoo! Traffic = View Traffic for specific locations
Live365 Radio Network = Listen to Radio Online
Fandango = Movie Listings and Trailer Previews
Podcasts = Listen or watch podcasts

All of which would be great to have on XBMC.

Some other ideas I have are integrating the Ooba Script into the "XBMC live marketplace" because it's compatible with so many "Viral Media" websites and another one is a lyric script for your music.

Some other new ideas would be to have Pandora.com, Orb.com and a chat (i.e. MSN or AIM) client

I think these are the top Scripts people would LOVE to have included with "XBMC live marketplace" on top of a trainer download script, maps (Memesis3) download, and a emulator launcher.
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: manturafs on July 01, 2006, 10:25:00 PM
most of those items you listed are availabe through xbmcscripts.com or the script downloads option in live marketplace.  you just need to download them and access them via scripts.

TV Guide = myTV (can't record because there is no tv input)
Radio = kmlbrowser, etc
movie listings = xmovieguide (if i remember right though, it's outdated)
podcasts = xpodder and xbox podcast
lyrics = xbmclyrics
the other scripts are great ideas and you should post them in the xbmc python scripting forum.

as for marketplace specific, i've thought about ooba and mimesis, and ooba still has a chance.  mimesis doesn't have a chance because it's made with XDK.  that was my original idea until i found that out.  as for trainers, working on it, but the site i'm working with hasn't responded to my emails and not really sure if i want to add a trainer section to my website.  an emulator launcher is sweet and i've been following that, but to me, that would be in xbox arcade.

live marketplace is similar to xbox live where you can get content for your xbox, not necessarily stream or anything related to internet.  that's more scripts.  i do like your ideas though and would personally love up to date traffic.

and in case you are curious, i will be shooting out an update sometime soon to fix some bugs and give a little extra

TiOem I have to disagree also. I see Xbmc Live as a place to get more stuff for XBMC, not as a place to make running 3rd party scripts launch.

It would get some more exposure to them, however honestly you must consider the fact then every release those scripts would have to be bundled with the new XBMC, also what if the script updates the day after a T3Ch release, should they immediately release another.. etc.. etc...

If you add too many things it just clutters the simple interface that people enjoy from XBMC. If someone really likes scripts then they will probably go to the lengths you are talking about for making quick launch items for each script etc... however only really hardcore users I think would do such a thing, for most people it is too much.

Oen386,
From the looks of it, I agree that putting lot of those into one window would clutter the interface (that can be fixed), but step back and look at "XBMC live content" for a minute...

First, most of it is customizations (we can put all those into a "customize" window to unclutter the space)

Second its already is a place to make running 3rd party scripts launch..
each and everyone of those buttons is a script, ("XBMC live content"/MC360 update, Themes/Wallpapers, Movie Trailers, etc)
each of which needs to be maintained individually...

Because of that, "XBMC live content" will probably never be bundled with XBMC...but I see it as a downloadable bundle. (Making it a upgrade button leaves less worries for the Blackbolt Team to have to maintain the Live Blade, "JOIN XBMC LIVE" button could appear where "Live Content" button would be once downloaded and updated)

Xbox live is a portal to your online services...its what MS wants the word "LIVE" to mean. I'm merely defining what online services we could bundle to help define LIVE that Xbox LIVE has not. Thus the example of what TiVo Online Services offers...including a few most popular scripts that XBMC user want added on....narrows down what every user would use in front of the TV

To prepare for the upcoming release/update to the marketplace, i've added more categories to the website for content uploading.  just be smart about how you format the items.  the only one that really needs special packaging is splash sound.  that needs to be one file named start.wav and zipped without a folder.   i'll be adding these categories to the marketplace so that people have more content to download.

start uploading at www.tintense.com

you want a 480i version of the mail script or of the marketplace?  if it's the marketplace, it should automatically scale for your screen

as for the upcoming updates, pretty much done with the coding.  just have to write one major script and debug.  should have a release tomorrow or the day after, unless there is an mc360 release.

thanks!  the new update is pretty much ready.  i will definitely release it tomorrow unless some release comes out from MC360.  but then it should only be a day delay.  i'm just going to upload more content before I upload the update and final testing with those new files.  there's pros and cons to the next release but the key is to be patient. smile.gif

as for your question Cr4z33.  good question!  it's not my domain but the name and space was donated by Azin, a fellow scene member, who owned it before.  definitely thank him for the space.  i guess we could get xbmclive, but just too lazy. haha.

All right guys.  Sorry to keep you all waiting, but hopefully I worked out all the bugs.  Be wary though, everything still takes time to load and install.  Sorry about that.  Anyway, on to the new release.  Here are the changes:

CODE
Beta v.0.500 - Changes since last release:
--added xbmc_logos to xmls and system logo category
--fixed no shine appearing in Marketplace page
--changed descriptions of menu selections
--changed order of Marketplace page
--added Featured Downloads for the latest 30 additions
--added numerous categories for icons
--added splash sounds to media packs with a different install directory (Q:\media\start.wav)
--added different install directories for themes (MC360\media) and wallpapers (E:\LiveContent\wallpaper)
--added ability to accept filenames/uploads with spaces on website
--added various preview functions to pertinent scripts
--changed background to be transparent to account for different themes
--added link to thumbnail in RSS feed
--added permanent download path for game trailers to E:\LiveContent\GameTrailers
--added game trailers to marketplace
--added warning for javascript on website
--added author and filesize to description in RSS feed
--removed all HTML tags showing in description in Marketplace
--changed download location of icons to E:\LiveContent\icons
--fixed temp.zip not being deleted after installation complete
--added Game Trailers script (doesn't work on my HD tv unless I save, but works on a regular TV)

I guess the big things to note are game trailers, featured downloads, previews, themed backgrounds, no more account management, and more categories overall.  Lots of stuff, but only if you keep uploading content you find or create on www.tintense.com.  If the features list isn't enough to convince you, here are the screenshots:

Hope you all enjoy!

i actually can´t open any py in the mod dude
you know what happen?
are you change the xml or rss path?

or where i can download your update i can find if any way

i think what is the problem i already download the update from thge rss.php that you have , i have to tell you you did a exelent work this time congratz, but i still cant run any py in your update and i guess is cuz you have rss.php , why you dont change to rss.html , i can open the other script to a diferent path but not yours , try making a copy and name it rss.html

or if you have another way will be great
one more time congrats you did a exelent work

i actually dont like to change the mc360 logo for one yours that make all the themes useless to my point of view

Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: manturafs on July 04, 2006, 08:53:00 PM
warlion, the py's don't work?  you might have to wait a little bit.  unlike the xbmcskins, you have to wait for them to load.  or do you mean getting other scripts to work?  as for the xbmc splash, i think you're right and i might get rid of that section and send out an update without that modded.  ANOTHER OPTION is to have label the graphic both mc360_logo.png and xbmc_logo.png in your xpr.  i believe if the graphic is in the xpr, it will always override a similarly named graphic in the media folder.  that might be a good default for theme designers that throw in their own xbmc logo.

and mazola, as for the splash sound, i don't think it will automatically work actually unless you hear a splash sound now.  xbmc disables the sound in all their releases unless you edit the xml.  i didn't add it back in because i wasn't sure if everyone wanted the sound back.  but if you want, i can work on getting that on for you.  it will install to the right location, but whether the sound will play depends on your setting.  i'll try downloading it tomorrow.

Post by: manturafs on July 04, 2006, 09:53:00 PM
try it now.  i htink something was causing it to parse wrong, but it should all work now.

as for the dialog script, is that a progress bar for the loading time?  if so, that's sweet.  so i just put that into geticons.py that i have?  coool.  i'll try to integrate it.
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: manturafs on July 04, 2006, 10:48:00 PM
is that the old getupgrade script?  or did you find that in the new release?  i took it out because it won't overwrite the xbmc files automatically.  i think it's the same reason why mc360 hasn't released an autoupgrade feature as well.

btw, do the scripts work for you?
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: nuka1195 on July 05, 2006, 06:01:00 AM
The script works now, thanks. This is a nice mod.

about the dialog, yes it's just a progress dialog. The progress bar only updates with "dialog.update(percent done)" calls. So maybe you could find a better place to put it.

At least it would tell someone if the script is running or has errored.

yeah mazola.  that will definitely work.  as for creating a generic splash, let me take a look and i'll get back to you.  i think for future releases, i might just combine the categories splash logo and media packs together since they have so little sub categories.  keep up the good work and I hope you do get inspired for some more sound packs.

yeah, the update doesn't work because it won't overwrite the files.  however what do you see a black background in?  alla the new scripts should have a different background packaged with the installer.  let me know and i can post a quick fix or new package.  the only black background i know is if you use any of the old scripts, which includes the upgrade one.  that is outdated and no longer a part of Marketplace.

if you have exmark, it's meant to stay at extras to represent the main blade, similar to when you access gamesaves, the blade says games.  just trying to keep it consistent.

as for developments, adding a progress loading screen so you guys know what it's loading and if it fails (instead of just waiting a long time and not knowing if it's working or not) all thanks to nuka.  also if all things go well, might be able to add another feature and i'll consolidate two categories to make up for wasted space. smile.gif

Hey manturafs... any thoughts on integrating a Mimesis v3 link or submenu to the Mod?

I realize that it would put some dependance on another 3rd party tool, but it would fit nicely with what you have going =)

or.. Ooo... an optional/customizable menu item that we could point at what ever convient app we have installed (dvd2xbox, mimesis)

theres a MSN messenger script called MSNx, but its currently busted due to some updates MS made to thier systems.

No word when it will be fixed, maybe you can hunt down the author and whip some speed into him tongue.gif

Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: manturafs on July 07, 2006, 11:50:00 PM
i originally wanted to include Mimesis, but finally realized it was built with XDK which would ruin the distribution of this mod.  i wouldn't be able to post it and you wouldn't be able to download it, especially since mods can't be d/l'd from the 'usual places'.  smile.gif  that's why mimesis can't be part of this project, but i can help you integrate yours if you like.

as for the custom app, i thought about that as well, but there are too many variables to considera such as naming the button, space for the button, etc.  i was just going to keep a directory for the app, but depending on if it's python (email) or xbe (dvd2xbox), you have to customize too much.  sorry. sad.gif  i'll look into adding more custom scripts though for you guys if i can.

and brutalboy, i am definitely working on that for you.  that's a feature i would like as well.  almost there. smile.gif

I was wondering this too. I updated my build to the newest Tech release and the new MC360 release, and the Extra's blade now says XBMC Live.

There is a Connect to Xlink Kai bttn, and a graphic that looks like its suppose to be a bttn that says XBMC LIVE, however when I click it, nothing happens.

Do we still need to install Market Place then?

This is not included in the latest release of mc360 and it will not be, we are going to build our own version of this into the skin ourselves.  This is the reason for the recent consmetic changes to the default skin.

This Mod will be 100% broken in the new version of the skin until it gets Updated by whoever makes it

right, like Jezz says, this is a different project.  though they share a similar name for the time being, team bb is working on a different xbmc live.  this MOD will serve as an interim until that solution is completed.

however I will update this mod for the latest release.  just need to change a few things and it should be a good to go.  i would say sometime in the next three days, possibly tonight, but who knows? smile.gif

MC360's Marketplace will NEVER undermime the work done here.

Basically MC360 have come in and taken the weight of the mod and the ideas and lifted them up and into MC360, much like Superman lifting the Shuttle from the Boeing and carrying it into space...

-added some game trainers for you to download and plan to upload more
-included xbmcmail in this release that you can configure in the script
-added animated circles that you can disable since they are not perfect

--removed Other Skins category
--fixed shortcut to xbmc live to direct to the Marketplace
--fixed button order on xbmc live blade so that the first button is highlighted

--added the old extras as visible when Kai Info is disabled
--added "Disable Kai Info" in Information management to disable kai buttons

jezz is right.  you can't use the email client with gmail because i believe it's on port 995 and requires SSL for POP access.  it's different when using linksbox.

also, i'll try to check out the game trailer script.  i've had problems with it as well, but on one of my xbox's it works fine (unfortunately it's not my big screen one).  to play videos on my other xbox i always had to save the video.

OOOOOKKKKKKKK.  Sorry it took so long but found some extra bugs and one thing that I just couldn't fix for now.  However the update is ready for both standard and HD display.  This is the latest LiveMark release updated to work with MC360 .99b and the xbmc 2.0 versions.  I actually created two packages to choose from so that some people don't have to deal with a big download.

The full version of the Mod includes all the Marketplace scripts along with images associated with buttons and pages found in the mod. The lite version of the latest LiveMark release is much smaller than the full package and made for quicker downloading.  This is mainly for people who have already downloaded a previous version of LiveMark and still have the images and scripts in their directories.  The release does not include the images used in Livemark or the Marketplace scripts.  ONLY use the LITE package if you already have those images and scripts in the correct folders.  IF NOT, use the FULL package.

As for what's in this release, it has all the options as previous releases allowing you to download from the Marketplace straight from your xbox.  You also have the ability to remove Kai from the Live blade and have it replaced by File Manager, Weather, and Scripts by disabling Kai info.  Other options include setting custom blades, logos, background animations, and even gamercards.  You can also disable blade hazes, whitewash, logos, gamercards, descriptive text OR display xbox temperature or free space on the home blades.

Installation instructions are in the package and official changes are below:

QUOTE
10/07/2006 - beta v0.733 - for Mc360 Beta 0.99b and the xbmc 2.0 release from T3ch- manturafs & roormonger
--fixed label/blade transitions when moving from page to page and when exiting/starting
--added the ability to disable blade hazes
--add ability to show temp or free space on the home blades
--added the ability to choose custom gamercards
--added custom image sections to clean up text and have better navigation
--changed HD xmls to incorporate mod
--fixed xml's to work with the latest xbmc and mc360

If you find any bugs, let us know and we'll try to patch the packages as soon as we know.  We'll also be uploading an image pack later with more pics/logos/gamercards to choose from as well to help with the customization.

P.S.  The thing that I couldn't fix is that when a custom gamercard is set, it does not show up when choosing card type in gamercard settings.

I still haven't even tried the finished product yet. I have been away from my xbox for the past two days. I'm sure it is waiting eagerly for me to get home and install the mod.

And about that image pack, I forgot to rename some stuff. I will sort it out when I get home and upload them tonight.

Here's some more blades, background animations, and gamercards for your customizing pleasure. These images were made by Skyzerr33, LGC, Warlion, Jonboy666, Fred PJ, and myself. The animation by Fred PJ was edited by Skyzerr33, it will also be the new default background animation for the future builds of MC360. So now you will get a taste of it early.

I have translated the mod into Italian.
Now when I enter into the XBMC Live section I get some weird stuff.
I see the Blades voices Games, Media & System displayed. blink.gif
I am using PAL 16:9. What did I wrong? blink.gif

there is no longer a disable blade label option.  you can get rid of blade labels now through font colors so it's not necessary.

as for your blades disappearing, i'm not sure why that happens.  if you use the regular includes, do they come back?  i don't have that problem and used the same files and it's fine on my machine (720p 16x9 is what I use).  are you using a custom pack?  if not, what happens if you do?  have you tried switching themes or restarting the box?  that's confusing.

and i don't mind if you put it in for your future releases.  just make sure to credit roormonger since he did all the supermod coding.  it's really his work too.

Hopefully he included the new editted text color changing scripts, so now you can turn off all the blade labels by using cof files. Now all the blades are covered by the TextcolorDarkGrey include.

Also I was rolling this idea in my head earlier. How would you people like an option to use wide icons?

yeah, wide icons shouldn't be that hard, but incorporating ventline's work will take much more work since he also did extensive changes to certain parts of code.

as for the bugs that we fixed, some labels were showing that shouldn't be there and some blinking.
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: roormonger on October 09, 2006, 10:31:00 AM
We also forgot to do EVERYTHING in the system info screen.

I will be putting out a patch for wide icons later, it would not work as an option.

And about ventlines mod. I do really love the system blade part. I was thinking about doing that, but might wait until the next release. As for the whitewash animation I don't think that will happen.

Here's the wide icons patch, as promised. I couln't work out making it an option yet so I decided to do it this wasy for now. This was the first time I have botherd with wide icons, and I must say that I really like them.
This patch will allow you to use wide icons for video, games, emulators, apps, and music.
Only use this if you have the recent  Live Mark 0.727b Supermod. Remember to download the mod again cause it was updated on 10-8 to fix a few bugs, so do that before applying this. I also made it super easy to install.

Get it here

The patch make the wide icons permenent. I said I couldn't make it an option, which mean being able to turn it on and off. So if you don't want wide icons don't use the patch, THAT'S your option.

And if you wanna use custom gamercards, you should try going to the gamercard setup. And like all the other custom image buttons, after you set the image you can go back to the button and press left or right and it will turn into a reset custom button.

You can't have wide icons as a switch on of thing or I would of allready put it in the mc360 code ages ago not to mention PM3
Curious as to the explanation why ? here goes
You can't have <id>51</id> in the same xml twice with <visible> tags like you do for everything else that gets toggled on and off.
Reason you ask well its because <id>51</id> <visible> state is actually controlled by <id>2</id> and if you put more than 1 <id>51</id> in the code then it just ignores the lower one and uses the first one it reads from the xml file.  laugh.gif

Everyone Understand that  jester.gif

exmark?  make sure you download the lastest livemark release which is 0.733.  anything else won't work since names of files have changed and so has coding.  with the newest mc360 (from 2.0 of xbmc), you need the latest release in order to run in properly.
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: manturafs on October 10, 2006, 12:48:00 PM
i know it's a lot of pages, but the 1st page is by far not the latest version of the mod.  like i said, you need livemark-0.733.  the first page explicitly says version 0.50.  go to page 29 i think and you'll find a link to the latest version.  please read the readme next time which tells you which version the mod works with.  anytime you download anything to do with xbmc or your xbox, read the readme before posting questions.

of course if i misread your message, let me know if you did download the correct version and i'll see if i can help you.

whoops.  naw, there was a bad character in one of the item descriptions.  it's been fixed so there shouldn't be a parsing error.

as for updating the links on the first page, can't be done unless you're a mod.  i was even thinking it would be good to update the sub description so that people know what page to find the latest version, but can't do that either.  best thing is to go to www.tintense.com and look in the xbmc live mod section for the latest releases.

for wide icons, you actually need the patch to change the code to show wide icons.  just downloading the icons won't do anything.

as for the splash, it should now work.  if the splash file was named correctly, the next time you start your machine, you should see your new splash that you downloaded.  if it didn't work, that means the file is off.  just let me know what you downloaded and i can fix that.

Did you try changing the font colors? I made the all the blade lables get coverd by the include TextcolorDarkGrey so people could turn their blade lables off by just making them invisible. Use a cof file to make them black again and get back to me with your results.

Think of it as one mod. We work on the whole thing as a team. None of us are responsible for a certain part of the mod. If either of us notice somethig that needs to be fixed we fix it. For instance on the last release of the mod he did all of the 16x9 part while I was away. You can't work on the marketplace without working on the other stuff too. Plus manturafs is a busy guy while I am not, I do work around the farm but I don't have real job that I have to spend 8 hours a day at so I try to do as much as I can.
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace

If you use our mod you should update MC360 beforehand. Getting our mod is almost updating MC360 but without a few things. I don't think you could take full advantage of all the options if you don't use the latest versions of MC360.

Don't worry about fixing the blade labels, everyone may have a new version soon. Manturafs and I are working hard on fixing bugs and adding new features, like an option to use whitewash animations, an option for a homebrew button, and one other thing. The whitewash animations option is done, and it looks sweet as hell. The hombrew button will be done shortly and will also be an option. The homebrew button will require you to make a source in my programs called Homebrew, it can use any folder you want but I would have a seperate folder with just my homebrew stuff in it to keep everything organized. I have also moved all of our extra stuff into one section in the includes for easy translation.

Hopefully we will be done soon.

It sounds great!!!

Are great news for me, thanks. But I would like to make a suggestion (I don't know if I already made it, but here it is). What about modify the logos choose to can put different logos in one blade (one for apps, another when you select games... and so on). So I will not need to modify the Marketplace-Supermod every time  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Thanks again Roormonger
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: roormonger on October 15, 2006, 06:59:00 PM
Because the selection screen for the logos would be pretty big. I don't know how you have it but I would have to use a selection screen and a guide blade is not big enough to have a selection for each button. So you are just gonna have to settle with a logo for each blade for now.

Also the update should be real soon now. We are done everything and now just need to do some bug tests.
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: drannor on October 16, 2006, 05:23:00 AM
Well, I was thinking about add a new submenu for the blade Media and another for the blade Games, in each of this submenus you could five or six different logos for each button. If you want I can send to you how I put my custom logos (but I think you already know how to make it  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )
I don't know if it's possible to put another submenu, but I think this is a solution that keeps the choose little enough.

Tell me what do you think about it  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Send it to me I will check it out.

Also the mod is taking a bit longer than expected but it will be worth it. I just hope 1.0 dosent' come out soon cause I will be pissed after doing all the stuff we just did to to it.

Oh and manturafs' fav menu will be added to the mod as an option. It is pretty sweet too. But the only thing about it is that you are gonna have to edit it yourself. It's not hard though. I'm sure he will make instructions for it.

it's a mix.  it's actually the carbon theme with background animation disabled and whitewash disabled.  Font color is set to all white.  As for the backgrounds, that's a wallpaper set.  If I remember right, it's this pack:

Wow, this is just fantastic work guys - well done.

I love the menus for the buttons and have a question - would it be easy enough for me to add them for Videos (I'm thinking TV Shows and Films mainly)?

Clear?

And of course there are some known issues but it works great so nobody would whine

I think he was being sarcastic.

I am interested on hearing people's opinions/suggestions on the transition to and from the file explorer, weather, and scripts pages.

yeah, the code is pretty much the same no matter what you'd use.  i just preferred this way so that you could have little code and pretty much normal navigation.  wtih submenu you'd have to hit back or hit a button to access the buttons.  if you like the submenu way, i could look at that again.

as for favorite videos menu, i'll work on a patch for the entire media blade.

REALLY blink.gif
But you don't think it would look stupid entering the weather blade from, for expmple the games blade and the background suddenly turned purple, then when you returned to the games blade it would suddenly go back to green? If we wanted sudden image changes we wouldn't have even botherd with the transitions in the first place. In my opinion if you can get to them from any blade then they should use the background of the blade you came from.

ok.  i finished the patch. if you want media favorites, just download this, unzip and edit, and then upload into the mc360 folder.  it should only replace 5 files i think.  then just reboot and you should have your favorites menu!

http://www.4shared.c...6-favpatch.html

oh yeah, as for icons, i thought about it, but decided against it.  i thought have the same icon next to each one would be just as boring or to define an icon or button for each button would definitely not fit into an option, especially since some people might add more buttons themselves or reduce the number of buttons in their favorites menu.  HOWEVER, if you want to make custom buttons, use can try this template: http://www.4shared.c...n-template.html.  i created custom buttons with that and it looks fine.  Of course, if you know your xml, you can edit the files to change the favorites menu to only show one button and scroll, 5 buttons, squares into rectangles and more if you want to customize it some more.

as for movie trailers, not sure what you are talking about.  should work fine unless the site is down.

cool.   nice job customizing.  seems like you are getting the hang of the coding.  i'll try out the animations later today maybe when i'm home.

also, you know what, i think i know what might be the problem for the movie scripts.  first though, you are right, you need to have an mc360 folder in the skins directory.  otherwise no mc360 scripts will work.  otherwise, i think it has nothing to do with the mod since the coding is the same, but maybe the site did change.  when you access it from scripts, are you going to the one included with xbmc or mc360 (Apple Movie Trailers vs. AMT).  I believe the one included with MC360 .99b is outdated and the script has been updated since then.  i'll check later, but if you want to test it, copy the contents of scripts/Apple Movie Trailers to skin/mc360/extras/amt . that should solve the problem if that's the case.  sorry i can't verify since i'm not at home.

as for the whitewash animations, i'll check when at home.

(weather should not be a bug, but i'll check it anyway)

ok, you guys are right.  the apple trailers don't work, but it has nothing to do with the mod.  it seems it now requires more code.  i'll work on fixing this for you guys, but from the looks of it, the script shouldn't work in mc360 at all if you are trying to use the mc360 look vs the pm3 look.

i also fixed the whitewash animation and a haze bug, but the patch for it all will be later.

i guest ill help out a little

for the favorite u need to edit the xml
theres a little guide that shows u in one of the read me included in the mod.
and the other problem the only thing i know that can cause that is the include.xml(if im not wrong) make sure to place the one included in the mod's
PAL folder
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: roormonger on October 21, 2006, 06:51:00 AM
You are right about the includes. It does that when a xml tells it there is a label in the includes but xbmc can't find it. Thats because the includes are loaded when the skin is loaded, so if there is a change in it then the skin is gonna have to be reloaded, or fi you can't reload the skin then just resart XBMC. He probably just didnt' restart XBMC after applying the mod.

Games, apps, emulators, and homebrew favs are in custom_1112GamesHome.xml. Scripts favs menu is in custom_1114LiveHome.xml. And if you have the media favs menu it would be in Home.xml.

you have to enable favorites first before you can see it on xbmc.  It's under personal settings.  once it's enabled and you've edited the xml page (like custom1114_LiveHome.xml) to load the xbe, you've got it done!

Ok I have it enabled already, thats not my problem. Let me try and better explain myself.

I see where you edit the menu's in costum1114_LiveHome.xml, what I cant find and dont see is where once edited does THIS PATICULAR menu show up in XBMC?

I see where the other menu's show up, like in the Media blade when I highlight Music, Pictures, or Video a favorite menu pops up on the side that reads either, Music 1 etc. Pic 1 etc, Video 1 etc.

In Games blade when highlighting each it also brings up its menu, App 1 etc, Game 2 etc,  Emu 1 etc.

And there is also the Internet App menu in the Live Blade in the Marketplace menu.

But none of these show a menu where the items are listed as Script 1 etc. that you find code for in the 1114 xml. I am refering to the following code, most importantly section in the code that has the button IDs, where does that paticular menu show up in XBMC?

ahhh, ok, i see what you mean.  so everything works except for the scripts favorites menu right?  first check to see when you are on the live blade that you see file, scripts, and weather instead of the kai buttons like friends, messages, and games.  if you see the kai stuff, that means you have that enabled and you won't be able to see the scripts favorites menu.  To change that, you have to go to personal settings, options, and Disable Kai Info.  Then you should have the extras stuff enabled instead of the Kai stuff, and consequently be able to see the favorites menu for scripts as well.  is that what you meant?

but this will happen if you upgrade your XBMC to the latest 2006-11-05-T3CH
The cached thumbnails are like 5kb for these wide icons the old build cached thumbnails
are around 50kb

NOT disable Kai, but Disable Kai Info.  Sorry for them sounding so similar.  Instead of going to the systems blade, you want to go to the guide blade and choose personal settings.  Then choose options or something like that and you should see disable kai info.

Here is a mod I made for this ......mod. It integrates an emulauncher button and a XBMC Lyrics button. I have included instructions on how to install and configure both. Once I figure out how to clear up some room in the gide blade for another button I will make an option to turn the emulators button into an emulauncher button.
(IMG:http://www.tintense.com/uploads/Image/mymod.gif)
You can download it here

Give me some feedback on this cause I was thinking aobut doing this to the other skins as well.

I suppose I failed to mention that I made this for the mod. Screw regular MC360, the mod has way more options.

Tommorrow I will put out a new version of this with a cleaned up and fixed guide blade and instead of putting the emulauncher button in my programs I made it so you could swap the emulators button for it. I seperated the options into 3 sections-Custom Image Options,Display Options, and Info Options.

Is this mod for the LiveMark?? Can't I just merge it in regular MC360 skin??

I mean... I would like to create my own MC360 skin with all the mods I like got from this forum and MarketPlace web page.
Can I just merge how many mods I like in just a regular MC360 skin or must I use the LiveMark skin??

Thank you.

Hey..hey... calm down, man...
LiveMark is something I place in my skin/MC360 folder, so for me is something that referes to a skin.
That's why I called a "skin". I could be more precise and call it the "LiveMark mod for the MC360 skin", but I was writing with hurry and I weren't precise. I don't think that this is enough for you to say that I make stooooopid questions.

I was asking that because I am trying to understand how mods can be made and why in technical I need the LiveMark mod installed.
This intentions came from the fact that I have found some mods that do not require the LiveMark mod installed, and so I would like to understand what does the LiveMark mod do in techlical.

And so... I would like to know why do I need LiveMark mod installed first in relation of the mod previously posted by CHI3f, and I mean "why" in technical: witch are the file involved so that I could understand why LiveMark is neaded???

Thank you.

the reason u need it install cause he edit the files that Manturafs edited to make his mod u can place different mods in the same skin unless u merge them cause somethings the creator of the mod edit some files that if u overwrite with a different mod it would now work

Well I added Livemark.736 to my mc360 on the 2.0.1 release and since then I have been having alot of trouble. My major problem is something keeps deleting/corrupting my "FireZilla Server.xml" file and thus I can't ftp my box while in xbmc. The file goes from a 8-9kb file to a blank 0kb file. I've tried replacing it with a fresh xml a few times now and it keeps happening. My news/RSS feeds are fine and I can connect to the box fine in unleash.

My second problem is that xbmc keeps freezing now. Full freeze, igr won't work to reset.

Could it be a script gone wrong or maybe something I attempted to download??? I tried to dl some icons but kept getting a a parse failed message after it tried to grab content.

I'd like to try an fix this without resorting to installing an entire new copy of xbmc. This was a fairly fresh copy of 2.0.1 that I just added a few days ago when I upgraded my hdd so I don't think its a xbmc bug.

Any suggestions appricated?

Anybody?

Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: djdafreund on December 09, 2006, 02:45:00 PM
Well, if it's the final version of MC360, as mentioned(with the exception of small updates),  i am guessing that means that the official LIVE version will be included that they have been working on, and this mod won't be needed anymore.
According to the response i got from asking the creator, he/they are not sure what they will do with Marketplace anymore. Still thinking about it.

you make it seem like the mod dosnt have any other features
Title: Unofficial Xbmc Live Marketplace
Post by: djdafreund on December 09, 2006, 07:27:00 PM
No, i am not meaning that at all.  smile.gif  I'm just saying that based on the fact that if the author making the current marketplace himself doesn't know the future of this one anymore, once the official one is released, he might be basing that opinion on inside info that we don't have, as to what all feature's the official one will have to be baseing that decision on.
I even mentioned that if the official one ends up having pretty much the same features (i'm guessing that would be the minimum though.)  that hopefully he/they didn't feel like this was all a waste, as we all have gotten our value out of it, and definitely appreciate the work involved and done with it and look forward to more in the future if he chooses to continue it. Proper respect has definitely been given and shown. That's all.
I'm sure we will all be informed if and when any final decisions are made though on the final direction of this for the future. I think it's been, and is, a great project on it's own myself. And love using it. It has many great features that i use myself, and i'm guessing that all the time spent on the official one will start with close to equal functionality just for starters, and 100% integrated properly by the skinners themselves. If not, in the beginning, we still will have the current solution either way. Remember, this was always made as a temp. solution only, as stated.

Yeah, you have done some pretty beautifull mod addon's for the Blackbolt Classic skins, and obviously pretty skilled. Not that it would be expected of you to offer. But i'm not doubting in a second you couldn't pull it off i'm sure. Thanks BTW for those. Very nice!!!

That would be very cool if Roormonger does update things, and still up's them to tintense.com, and one of us can post info when done on here. I don't think that should conflict with the forum's rules. (Crossing my fingers)  love.gif

sorry for being MIA.  lots of trips and no xbox for me.  BUT now I have some free time and not traveling as much so i'm back in the scene.  to answer some of your questions, i am definitely waiting until 1.0 to do any upates.  Those updates will be to fill in what's missing in 1.0 that exists in the mod but that they don't.  depending on the content as well, that'll determine if i mod a button to still connect to tintense.com.  i'll also work out some kinks if i can.

which leads to why some files don't unzip.  Chi3f is right to some aspects, but to be honest, some are valid zip files and can easily unzip on a computer, but for some reason hangs on the xbox and i haven't been able to figure out why.  i'm unzipped, rezipped, use winrar to zip, winzip to zip, but there's not pattern as to why some work and some don't.  nothing to do with size, time, or anything.

the only workaround i can think of would only work for themes where you get rid of the zip folder and let someone directly download the theme to the folder, but even that has cons.  sorry, but it's just a hit or miss. sad.gif

any other questions?

Well, I know that Links2XBMC has been being updated lately. If any of the people working on MC360 want to add support for it officially, you can get the SVN from https://OpenSVN.csie.org/links2xbmc and just overwrite the files in your XBMC SVN folder (IF you compile your own builds) then run the new build.bat. I have been running a new one I just compiled myself for the past few days, but the current version of the mods that Roormonger did to give support for MC360 and BBC have really bad flicker problems in the top of the screen. If any people working on MC360 want to contact me I can provide a recent build of XBMC with Links built into it to add support. It would probably be an extra thing, maybe even selectable via an option, since not every build of XBMC has Links2XBMC built in (yet), although it will become part of the official tree soon. Well, I gotta get back to work. The USAF needs me. Heh.

tintense was nice yes infact mc360 used it as a theme downloader right up until it went offline the problem is the beta never came out before it did so we had to change it

If the site gets back up and running again or a similar one like it that can promise it will stay up (and be in english), then I am more than happy to add it to XBMC Liveplace in mc360 if a suitable script to download from it is made
