Make it more slick, use same colours. Dont go from blue to suddenly orange, make it light blue or white/gray.

i like more of a similar color approach. Greys or shades of blue. not a big fan of blue/orange. otherwise looks very good, can't wait to try it.

I would actually like to see a different layout besides the menu down the left hand side. We used to have a pretty good variety before January. And even though I used your skin 95% of the time, I still liked changing it up for a day or two. At any rate, keep up the animations! It's what makes The Orbs stand out, IMO.

I'll try to use some other colors, and of course i'll keep animations in the home screen and the thumbs used in The Orbs for the other screens.
Right now i just made up the home screen, so I really don't know when the skin will be released.

Ironic, I was thinking of a 360 skin for xbmc just the other day. I agree with everyone else...keep the colors the same or very similiar to the 360. I really like the appearance of the 360 skin for UX but it would also be great if a skin could also utilize the 'folder' tabs, for lack of a better term, that are along the far left side of the 360 dash.

Will this be compatible with scripts?

That is a nice UX skin. The thing that I like about this XMBC skin is that the folder tabs are properly located. I think the overall feel of this layout...combined with all of the capabilities of xbmc will give more of a 360 feel to the xbox.

with thumbs on screen it looked way to colorfull to me you can easiely add the saturation to get them that way again. Still working on it, I just got it working as it should... need to really spend some time and refine it now

i cant wait for this skin, if it is super sweet, it will probably be the turning point for making xbmc my dash, the only reason it is not yet my dash, is all the locking up and instability of the program

progress is slow if Kotix hasnt got time to add extra buttons ill do it this weekend if he does ill tweak the graphics I render a few more pages like filemanager.

Hey Kotix, if this helps, the actual xbox360 dash (by comparing with the video's available.) isn't too busy itself, not exactly plain though either. But your shots are looking really nice, and i'm sure everyone would still like it. BTW, i'm here for ya buddy if you need more 16x9 fixes with the new skin.
I just saw the screenshots of the new dashboard 360. Personally i think it looks really bad. Mostly the text look primitive and blocky. Plus, i love xbmc much more anyway. I thought about fabricating my own xbox360 case actually so it looks the same (as much as space lets me of course.) since i already have some wireless controllers. That would be primo. I'll definitely be buying one when it comes out, hopefully the scene will be just as supported as xbox has been. I'm sure it will be.

The difference between britney version and mine is that i'll still use a home screen, I'll use sliding in/out tabs to have more room for thumbs and the movements trought tabs will be a little different.

Ok here are some shots:

Tell me where you'd like the time and date, rss feed(s), anything more?

Here you can see the music screen with icons that need to be replaced

Here you can see the left tabs...

and here the right tabs, I think it's more comfortable to have them on both sides; juI'm not sure to leave or not the system tab, probably it's better to leave just the medias

Here you can see the "view change" button highlighted, it's accessible moving left from thumbpanel and right from the first of left tabs, from there you can move up to switch view or down to "sort" button, then down to "ascending/descending" button and more down to the bottom orizzontal row of buttons

This last shot is to show you the folder icons (if you like them) and video icons ( i need to replace them)

Nope, it was too bright IMO, and because i'm not a good gfx designer it will take me forever to make 2 skins with different look.
Btw I'll upload all the uncompressed textures when the skin is finished so people can do whatever they want

Looking great Kotix, the date and time as mentioned are good where they are, the rss feed is a thing that I dont care for myself, but maybe have it on the top in the brown/orange part. Also maybe make a graphic that the rss feed would go over so it looks like its embedded into the skin and not on it??? (if that makes sense)

as for the drive info and such, I think a toggable screen would be best (with one of the 4 buttons just to the right) and then a screen that fits the exact size of the video overlay part pops up displaying the info.

How does one disable the blob start up video with the bios (I have no experience with Bios flashing).....

Looks great!!! I made an alt. screen for filemanager for now til Kotix is finished with his. Also redid Music/Settings/Games screens/tabs to match same pretty colors as XBox360. Also, like what you did with making the weather info the selection to bring up weather. That's pretty neat. I might redo the icons on lower right. Hard to make out.

i know someone has said this, but could there be an option, or the default to put the icon over a dvd picture. I know i could just include this in my icons, but i've already made about a hundred.

I'm talking about what the orbs skin does, i think its totally awesome and makes it look a lot better.

anyway, keep up the good work. i dont see a problem with several versions.

I can't get your skin to work Kotix. When I try to switch to it I get a message saying Incompatible skin we require skins of version 1.30 or higher. My xbmc version is May 30 2005. What's the problem?

Yes update. May 30th is really old when using Kotix's skins. When you use one of his skins, get a build of the same date. Some might work, but he ups his skins with the most recent builds in mind. So if it doesnt work, first update to the newest build you can get.

ok I got it working. It looks pretty good Kotix. A few things that I noticed though. In the music and picture folders I couldn't get to the top and bottom menus, it would just keep going up and down the list in the main window. Also, I don't really like how programs is buried at the bottom of the games window. You have to scroll through all the games to get to programs. Maybe it could have its own tab or something? Good job though.

I have started work again but did no work of late because of all the mods (not to my liking of how tabs should work but thought id see what happens) KotiX and me are now talking and ill be working on a skin not his one and the 2 may actually merge now that we have a way to get rid of overscan. Time will tell anyway in weekend ill post some pics and maybe a small vid as people add little bits to half finished skin here alot (will be fine when its finished)

PS ill say alot of you will like the way the X360 skin works the way I did it, id say it looks alike like KotiXs as he used my graghics backgrounds and tabs and now im going to use alot of his graphics and alot of his XMLs saving me alot of time. Its a work in progress and even when its done it will undergo tweaking here and there to make it look great.

Please be patient I only restarted work on it last night by the weekend ill be quite far into developement. KotiX has progress things nicely now let him have a week or so to tidy up skin and see if he can improve things for you, who knows it may actually be quite different in the end.

Thanks kotix for what's becoming a beautiful skin..

I hope you don't mind, but I didn't really like the background image for the scripts menu, especially as it was effectively the 'wallpaper' for the skin since Scripts was the default button... So I wrote a couple of scripts to let me have some fun.

I came up with two scripts, one that runs on boot and chooses a random image from a Wallpapers folder and sets it to the home image for the Scripts button... ie changing the wallpaper.

The second just lists all the images in your wallpapers folder and lets you set one manually.

I've hosted the files incase anyone else wants them... I included a couple of wallpapers for 4x3 users... none really x360 related since I couldn't find any good ones.

I hope ya don't mind me editing your skin... and is there any chance that in the final version you could leave a certain amount of customisation options such as leaving the background images out of the xpr file?

ok so when im looking at my music it is not showing any album icons but when i go in to my pictures to look t them to see if they are really there they so i dont know what is going on but i was wondering if it was the file types or what cuz for some reason it is really making me mad
