Title: 1080i Possible?

Ive been thinking about getting a ps3 but I keep hearing it wont display at 1080i just 480p and 1080 is this true? I have sony trinitron 32in hdtv wich is 1080i native

Games will output at whatever resolution they were written in.

If your TV can accept a 720p signal (doubtful, because I'm assuming that you have an older 4:3 CRT), you should be ok as far as games are concerned. If not, then your games will downscale to 480p/i unless the game was written with native 1080p/i support.

Blu-Ray should display at full resolution on your TV, not accounting for the 4:3 aspect ratio.

Hmmmm... Yeah my tv is 4:3 crt, But its a very nice tv and 1080i on 360 looks awesome. When I set my set 720p on my 360 is looks no different than 1080i.

You will have no problem with the PS3 then.  Our 30" Sony 1080i CRT can accept 720p also, and the PS3 looks fine hooked up to it.
