I'm in the process of making "Audio_Signed_Phoenix_Bios_Loader_1.3.zip" i'll post it on * DO NOT LIST WAREZ CHANNELS * & alt.binaries.xbox once i'm done. It will have the RC4 & EEPROM keys already included for the people who don't know how to hex / ones that are too lazy like I did for Audio_Signed_Phoenix_Bios_Loader_1.2.zip.

Here's how:

The x2 4977 regular old multi boot bios (not the bfm one) has both eeprom keys in its 2bl.

Use xbtool to unpack the bios.

Use a hex editor of some sort to open up 2bl.img

The 1.1 EEPROM key is 16 bytes starting at offset 0x1c

The 1.0 EEPROM key is 16 bytes starting at offset 0x3c

Ok Can anybody verify that this works Ive tried running it as a secondary app through evox with and without keys for the EEPROM and with the 4977 and EvoxD6 EF bios and it still loads ok so why does it load ok If the EEPROM keys are wrong?

I dont want to overwrite version 1.2 to find that it wont boot or I have the wrong key

smile.gif, The Pheonix 1.3 is really kool  biggrin.gif . Thx guys 4 bringing this thing out.  Also thx for the post on how 2 obtain the keys. I would like 2 know does this also work with the NEW 1.2 - 1.3 xboxes out there? The boot.cfg file only contains v1.0-1.1.  So , for those of u who has a 1.2-1.3 xbox give it a try & let me know.

Yes, sorry it should have been more clear.

Xboxes which are version 1.0 need to use the 1.0 EEPROM key.

Xboxes which are version 1.1 or higher use the 1.1 EEPROM key.

The loader works on any version of the xbox.

I did exactly what u suggested as far as the 2bl.img goes. I started at offset 0x3c for version 1.0 & 0x1c for version 1.1.  What am i doing wrong here ? I'll dbl & triple check it again

to use a bfm bios with xbtool u need to put a debug.ini with the rc4key inside next to the multi.ini the open xbtool change it to debug where it says multi then u can open your bfm bios and change it to whatever

I've seen people saying a few things can i just clear up two points...

- it will load ANY bios now i'm using the x29477, not the BFM version but the original.
- Bioses need to be 1mb in order to work, to make it 1mb unpack the 256/512 bios with xbtool and then select file size (bottom right corner) as 1024k then repack.  Rename it to xboxrom.bin / xboxrom2.bin and place it on your xbox, there you go job done.

Just make sure you have a valid eeprom code

with phoenix loader 1.3, we can use non "boot from media" bioses?

so basically i can take original x24977 bios, make it 1mo, edit it with xbtool and specify the bios to look for e:evoxdash.xbe (to have a virgin untouched c: partition, maybe safer for xblive???)
and in my phoenix loader 1.3 boot.cfg, i can just let all the 00 for the rc4 key but i must put correct eeprom key?

am right here?

thanks

The normal 4977 BIOS does not use an rc4 key. If you used a debug key on one then it is probably bfm. Otherwize, the loader is going you try to decrypt the unencrypted 2bl and then choke.

hmmmm....the thing is i know that i'm not using the BFM bios as i went to 'the usual place' and got the xecuter bios released by Xecuter not the complex one.

Phoenix_Bios_Loader_1.3.rar will work with the font, but not my pack. The linux.xbe is signed with -habibi not -font, it would be best if you just downloaded the normal package. You can use the boot.cfg & phoenix.raw files though, that will work for either.

Note: If you noticed nexgen.xbe is included in my package. This is *not* nexgen. It's renamed evox, hopefully to avoid any xbox live checks with the new updated dashboard coming out later this month. I doubt it means anything, but it's worth a try smile.gif

are you loading pbl from a gamesave? or is it booting from the hdd?

there is a known (not currently fixable) issue with running pbl from gamesave...'reset on eject' exactly what you are expreiencing, but it should work from booting from the hdd

the issue with the gamesave, is that there is a lot of reverse engineering the pheonix guys would have to do to cancel the behavior that is established by the game u boot from, to reset on eject. but that behavior isn't introduced if you boot from the hdd. so, pbl will always have the 'reset on eject' issue from a gamesave load, but you should not experience it from a regular boot

now i have phoenix bios loader on my xbox (it works great) but i still have the eject bug. if i eject the tray  comes out a little and then closes and the xbox reboots.
is there a way to fix this?

I don't know about the font exploit, but i'm using that audio exploit with phoenix bios loader 1.3 & have no clock / reset on eject / xbox live problems (not yet atleast). Maybe you should try it out if you are having problems.

i don't know about you..but i'm fine with just erasing all files i've put in to my C drive and restoring the old ones.. if i ever wanted to go on xbox live.. i can always just drag them back.. i haven't tried the audio hack yet so here..i cannot help you..and NO just too confirm with him..reset on eject will still not work as of yet through a gamesave. it must be booted through the HD

A couple of questions.  I have the 5010 bios machine.  I used the Signed_Phoenix_Bios_Loader_V1.3.rar and now when I boot, my bios is 4977.  This is not the real problem.  The problem that I have now is that some of the games previously work on my machine no longer works.  The sound is working but the screen is all messed up.

that's because the BFM bios that comes with the PBL is a 4977

I'm also getting the same problem.
I installed the Phoenix Bios Loader and it works, but when I press the ejects button it resets.
Does anyone have an idea?

Ok, I acn't figure out exactly what went wrong here. I got everything setup properly.

V: 1.1
K: 4034
D: 4920
E&B Reloaded
PBL v1.3
x2 4977 non BFM
evox 1.8.3752

With the font exploit by itself the box boots up into evox just fine. Now I tried to install PBL so that i fix that damn blinking LED and actually have a working IGR but it does not boot past the Phoenix logo, i just get a back screen. I 've done everything right (as far as I can tell) here's my setup.

xbox c:
- xboxdash.xbe
- evoxdash.xbe (-font signed)
- default.xbe (-font signed PBL)
- xboxrom.bin (x2 4977 non BFM set to load evoxdash.xbe)
- phoenix.raw
- boot.cfg (with the correct EEPROM & RC4 keys)
- and of course evox.ini, items.txt, the M$ fonts and all the subfolders

I've tried several different BIOS ROMs (the one that came with PBL, another modified x2 4977, and now just the original x2 4977).. I can't tell whether the BIOS is not loading or when it's just not loading evoxdash.xbe.

Any suggestions...

did you specify the correct name for the bios too load in the cfg..and if you changed the bios in XBTool make sure too save it as a debug.

What type of PC DVD ROM are you using? Do you need to put an original game in the XB drive to make it work?

I'm thinking of getting a Samsung 616t.

You can't do much piggybacking a PC drive if you havn't backed up your games yet.

the phenix screen comes on,, but then just sits at a Green Checkerboard screen  like RIGHT before the xbox animation comes on...

i have the signed 1.3 loader ,,,

i knowticed in the evox ini its pointing to media player and MS dash to  c:newdash.xbe ...  wtf is newdash.xbe....

do i need to change that to show c:default.xbe  or the FULL path to my PBL folder then evoxdash.xbe ???

or is this NOT the problem at all...

i have a 1.0 xbox ...

i've done some reading up about this nice hack and read several tutorials on it, but still have some questions.  I am running a modified xbox with an old style 29-wire homebrew modchip.  As you know, this type of modchip is not flash upgradable to the newest and coolest bioses that are being released.

I want to use the phoenix bios loader in order to use newer bioses that allow nice features like IGR, xblive compatibility, etc...

1. Will the loader work if my modchip is enabled?
    a. am i correct to assume that if i can, i don't need to sign anything or load any other exploits?

2. The bios on my modchip auto loads xboxdash.xbe only.  Using this loader, can i have xboxdash.xbe as the original dash, and use evoxdash.xbe as my hacked dash (for xbox live compatibility)?

3. Will i need to use my modchip as only a basis to install the exploits and have it turned off for the loader to work?

4. Only boot from media (BFM) bioses work with this hack?

anyone with experience with this please let me know!

Thanks.

ok i REALLY want this beast to work cuz i have BAD problems playing MOST of my games with the font exploit,, meaning if you try and sign the default, xbe with the font exploit,, the signing fails,, thus it wont play  not from hard drive not from dvd/cd

so what do i need to do here fellas,,,

anybody ??
somebody??

in theory it should work the exact same if its an app run from evox or if you boot to it..

so why wont it work,, i havent put the file in the root of my C drive yet,, BUT if i do   do i leave the default.xbe  thats already there?? or replace it with the one from the PBL ? also as i stated about the newdash.xbe ??? wtf is that,, and what should i change it too..

pretty pretty please!! help   lol

hmmm small question...

if phoenix bios loader has loaded once... then the bios is flashed isn't it?? Then there is no need anymore for the bert and ernie files to excist and let the xbox boot directly to evox ??

or do i see this wrong??

I just got an idea by reading this thread:

Did you ever try to boot the linux bios with pbl1.3?
(what was its name, 'cromwell'?)
It is said that the linux guys fixed the clock loop in their exploit,
so I guess booting linux via cromwell will fix the clock too.
maybe cromwell as 2. bios only booting a very small
linux os gives a pretty good clock loop solution?

but: is there a 'cromwell bfm' ??

I havent tried this because im still using pbl12 and my xbox seems
to do the loop only for 1 or 2 times.

we'll i've just installed it and so far so good, it has loaded no matter what bios i have put on  biggrin.gif. The only thing is for some unknown reason i cant FTP into it, so i have to use the save game exploit to alter/update files.

hmmm...

i seem to have a problem too... i've got a new version 1.3 xbox ... and when i install the phoenix loader 1.3 everything works oke...

i can launch evox, the original dashboard etc...

BUT.... the apps i have put on don't seem to work....
You can start them, but they just return back to evox ...
with a xbox of a friend of mine i just put in the font files without the loader, and he is able to run almost every app...

What am i doing wrong?

P.S. I don;t seem to have an F drive.. but also no E drive.... huh??

easy n00b qestion, if I load pbl with a retail bfm bis i.e. 4817_bfm.bin will my xbox look lke an unmodded system to m$ for example using live (I have a spare eeprom key if I do get banned), I have a cheapmod installed and I really don't want to remove my motherboard to install a switch.

Yes.

because ?? it doesn't flash the bios but it loads a replacement bios ??

is it possible to flash the original bios from evox then ??

You can flash bios from evox. You must solder a couple of points on XBox mainboard first. There are many tutorials on this.

just tryed the pbl 1.3.5i and I'm having  problem, when I select a retail bfm bios it reboos to the msdash as it should but there is no response when I use the controller, hmm just tryed 5101_bfm.bin and that works, strange maybe it's because of the live 2.0 dash.
