as time marches on, Im sure MS will change a few things up here and there, but if you want to actually PLAY on live, your best bet is to pay for it. Then youll have access to all the goodies :beer:

Silver will only be basic live service, aka friends lists, content purchasing, marketplace, etc.

It's my guess that Silver will have NO online multi-player abilities but MS will probably offer things like free weekends here or there to boost the interest of those who don't have Gold. (kind of like when you get free HBO for a weekend every so often, trying to get you to buy it)

They might have a promotion going on every so often where that statement is true but it's fairly unpredictable and the chances of it being worthwhile are fairly small.
