Title: X-b.i.t V 1.5 O.k Chip
Post by: Cam3lto3 on June 21, 2005, 11:07:00 AM
Hello, I just purchased a X-B.I.T V 1.5 and now im starting to read that people are haveing prolems installing this chip and flashing it. The only reason i purchased this chip is because it is my first mod and I dont want to waste money if i dont like modding.  Well my first question is, is the X-B.I.T an OK chip once you can get it flashed with a bios and once you get it installed successfuly. Second question, would X2_4983 be a good BIOS to use seeing ive read that people have the most success with that BIOS.

Thank You,
Cam3lto3

The xbits are normally OK for installaion on a 1.1-1.5, however the 1.0 which has solder filled LPC holes, is almost impossible to get the chip to seat correctly, and if you have a 1.6, then you are pretty much screwed as the xbit is a horrible chip to install on a 1.6.

X2 4983 is a good bios to use, provided you dont have a 1.6 - if you do you will need a newer verison of the X2 bios, or the evox M8+ bios.

It took about 3 hours with a magnifying glass and a flash light but I got it to work on my 1.0 box.  The large memory size and easy flash is great.
