Title: Iso2god V1.0.0
Post by: apcarr on January 29, 2010, 01:51:00 PM
Well seeing as no one has posted this yet I thought I would.

Following on from Team XeDev's release of NXE2GOD, here's a new PC app for converting Xbox 360 ISO images straight into Games on Demand containers.
While it's possible to extract ISOs and run them off USB using replacement dashboards, it's nice to be able to run them as GODs as well.
This functionality has only been available through the Xbox 360 SDK until now, so we thought it was about time a legal app was released to perform the same task.
Thanks go out to Team XeDev/Dstruktiv for NXE2GOD which helped us figure out what was needed for CON->GOD converts.
Special thanks to rolly poly for testing and putting up with my endless ramblings about file formats!
Enjoy folks!

FEATURES
ISO to Games on Demand container conversion
Support for XSF and GDF/XDVDFS ISOs
Automatically reads title info from ISO default.xex
Multiple I2G conversions can be queued up to run
Requires .NET Framework 2.0

USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Add the ISO image you want to convert.
Details from default.xex stored in the root of the ISO image will be used to auto figure out Title IDs etc.
Choose a folder to write the Games on Demand container
The GOD will be written to a sub-folder named using the Title ID from the XEX Eg: X:\YourFolder\584D07D1\00007000\
Copy the newly created sub-folder (584D07D1 in the ex.) to your 360 HD. Eg: Partition3\Content\0000000000000000\584D07D1\00007000
Run the Games on Demand title from your chosen dash!

KNOWN ISSUES

Redundant sectors in the XDVDFS are not removed when creating the GOD container, so they will be bigger than titles which NXE rips itself. This will be fixed in a future release.
PNG thumbnail is not extracted from the source ISO and used for the GOD container. This will be in the next release of I2G

Few checks are made as to whether an ISO image is valid so it's recommended you run the ISO through ABGX360 to ensure validity. If it passes that, it will work fine.

Title Name is not currently extracted from default.xex so you will need to enter that manually.
No check is made on how much free disk space you have,so you'll have to use your brains (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Loads of other bugs. If you find any, tell someone and there will be cake as a reward! Or not.

awesome, does it do recursive folders? My games are stored on my PC as
drive:\ISOs\GameName\IMAGE.ISO
yes..i do actually make my own rips. biggrin.gif

Can't wait til the next one that will reduce the redundant sectors. Do you know, roughly, what the size difference would be? Does it convert the entire ISO or just the GamePartition?

thanks smile.gif

There is already a thread for this at http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=704377

It appears this is the correct spot for it anyway though so I'll re-add my comments here.

I wonder, does this work for XBox 1 BC games as well, or only 360 games?  I'd assume only 360 games.

Also, wtf, which is it? tongue.gif

yeah,I had'nt noticed the other post as it is in the wrong section, anyway he means it reads the title ID which it does but it doesnt add the name of the game but you can do that yourself and it doesnt work with xbox 1 iso's (ive tried).

Ah - too bad it only packages up the full ISO size (with padding included).
{UPDATE}
ok, I see the "known issue" now - looks like it will be fixed in a later release.  Looking forward to it!

Hi,
Will this work on regular xbox or I need to JTAG it and have a custom Dashboard?

Can I just copy the created file to the correct location on the HDD and it will work?

I wonder if we extract the iso and then rebuild the iso will it get rid of the padding?

No. I just checked. Mine wont load. Bummer. I guess I will use NXE2GOD for now. But this app looks very promising.

What'd you use to rebuild the iso, is it possible it could be an issue with that?
Title: Iso2god V1.0.0
Post by: nevernow on January 30, 2010, 05:14:00 PM
I have tried that with XDVD Mulleter, with an ISO that could shrink to a DVD5 size. All seemed to go well, but the game shows up in NXE as an installed game requiring the disc to run, and NXE2GOD could not convert it.

Works awesome!
Hope next version is released soon wink.gif

I never could put my Namco Museum on Harddisk with NXE,
because NXE says 'Installation of this game isn't supported.'
I hope I2G will do the job in the next version, because now
it crashes on opening ISO.

aren't most, if not all, of those games in the collection also XBLA games?  The XBLA versions should take up less space.

Can someone clarify?

Thought that "features" and "known issues" part was pretty funny.

"Reads title from default xex"

"Doesn't actually work"  biggrin.gif

It seems to work using Qwix.Rip the iso with Xbox Image Browser to reduce the size, then use Qwix to make a new iso then Iso2God it.

This.

Or achievement data? or does that require the XDK I's just like a QuickBoot container if it doesn't have achievement data and that lowers its value significantly to me. Don't get me wrong: I think it's great this stuff is being worked on (I wish I could contribute myself), but it's pretty simple at present.

It's not likely to be another program (the error is not about the ISO, but one of the newly created Data files). It could be that that specific Data file looks (read first few bytes) like a video and Windows itself is trying to do its preview thing, or something similar (Windows trying to extract metadata, parse it...).

Use this:

Add Icon to LIVE GOD file made by ISO2GOD 1.0.0 or 1.0.6 Using Hex Editor.

1. Open both LIVE file (44kb) and your icon.png (~14kb) with a hex editor (I use HexWorkshop)
2. Select all HEX within the icon.png file and injecto to both 0x171A and 0x571A offsets.
3. Go to the bottom of the icon.png in Hex and look at your last offset. This is your image length. (Example: 2B13)
4. Replace the 4 bytes on 0x1714 and 0x1718 with your image length. (Example: ISO2God always leaves 0014, now it will be 2B13).
5. Go to offset 0xAFFF and trim the rest from the file down. Make sure you start at 0xB000 and not at 0xAFFF!!!
6. Save your LIVE file and go to offset 0x344 and select from there to the end of the file (0xB000). Use a tool from your hex editor to generate you a SHA1 Checksum of selected sectors.
7. Insert this Checksum to offset 0x32C and delete old 20bytes if your injection was not in "replace mode". Meaning, that your file must not grow beyond 0xAFFF.....0xB000 (Blank byte).
8. Save and Enjoy your ISO2GOD created game with Icon!!!

Thanks to Walhalla from xboxhacker to point out most of this tutorial.

To make your GOD as small as possible and not having the padding (redundant) data from disc in place:

1. Extract your game with ISO Viewer of choice (I use XboxBackupCreator 2.9).
2. Create new GDF iso with "Game Disc Authoring Tool" (don't ask!!!), or wait for a Legal GDF Creation Tool (I think DJ Shepperd is working on one, or wait for newer ISO2GOD that will do this job on it's own).
3. Create your ISO2GOD using this newly created ISO file that will only have the game data and no padding.

I used KOF XII for testing purposes, and not all games will work this way; I couldn't get Ninja Blade nor Blacksite Area 51 to boot using this method.

Have fun!!!

u get it cause another program is using the file. like it says. so close down whatever else is using it

No other program is using the file.  The file didn't even exist until this application created it a minute before.  I still get this error even when running it as administrator.

Is it normal to open the Live file in XBLA Unlocker where it says it is a trial?

Look at my last post on Page #4 of this thread. I made a detailed tutorial on how to add Icons to these rips.

- Note: On the creating smaller iso, you may now use "Crear_IsoGood" or "360 ISO Scrubber (Glitchy)".

Have a fun.

GTA IV and GTA: Episodes From Liberty City have the same Title ID. How do I avoid them ending up in the same folder? Will the save games I have still work if I change the Title ID of one of them?

Just Dont Avoid them, What I did, was ripped GTA4 Via NXE creating the container with a filename of 42 Characters, and used ISO2GOD to create the GTA:EFLC and both in the same folder works ok.

Example:

\Content\0000000000000000\GAMEID\00070000\7878234HLHSLDAF8283R4LDF (made up with nxe)
\Content\0000000000000000\GAMEID\00070000\GAMEDI (with iso2god)

I'm also looking at the live file (44kb) to see where does it call for the folder name and see if that's editable.

Cheers.

A similar thing happens if you rip Halo 3 (for single-player) and the Halo 3 Multiplayer disc (with extra maps) from ODST.

I installed both via NXE and then used NXE2GOD to convert them, and while they both show up as "Halo 3" they both also work perfectly.

Everytime I try and run the game after creating the GOD i get the error" the game was unable to start". Ive tried mass effect and bioshock 2 both do the same thing. I am able to install using NXE then use nxe2god no problem. Anyone else experiencing issues?

"Create Iso Compatible for Iso2God"  Would not exist if only a couple more features were added to this program.  Remove padding, and remove systemudpate folder.  Upon next release it would be nice to see these features automatically added in so that the complexity and multi-stop process of using "Create Iso Compatible for Iso2God" can me removed.

I was having a similar problem when trying to run games from USB HDD.  When I would run the XEX it would return to the NXE Menu with a message saying the game could not be run and to redownload the game.

I don't know if this is a similar situation as yours or not but this is worth a try.  The reason for my error was the game wanted to run the System Update but for whatever reason it will not do it when ran from USB HDD.  It wanted to update XBR_8955 with the Avatar Update.  So, after doing a search on these forums and finding people with similar problems I discovered the solution was to either run a game with the Avatar Update from disc or burn a cd/dvd/flash drive with the correct system update folder in the root.

Once the system update was complete all my games have run fine ever since.  No, it didn't affect XBR.  Check into this and it might help with your issue.

hey guys!

I'm new to the homebrew scene, I was able to trasnfer the game (dante's inferno) to the 360 using iso2god + usb cable, but I can't seem to find the "games on demand" option on my 360, I think it's on GAME MARKETPLACE, but since I don't have LIVE on it, I don't have the GOD option either...

how to proceed, please? thx in advance

couldnt find the "edit" button...

it worked with bioshock 2, just shows the game under "xbox360" games, but not with dante's inferno, and also, alien vs predator is not working with iso2god... any workaround on these 2 games?

thx again

Got AVP to work by extracting the ISO and creating a layer file with "Xbox Image Browser", then i deleted system update from the extracted ISO.
Using "Crear iso" i rebuilt the iso using the extraced files and layer file. Then used iso2god to create the god file.

Hope all you hard workers manage to build all this into one easy step soon.
Thanks for the creators of the mentioned software

try Xbox Backup Creator, go to image tools and then image browser, load the iso and extact it. If no luck with this u may have a bad iso. and i would suggest ripping it again.

I have a problem...maybe someone here can help me figure it out. I loaded an .iso for Army of Two: The 40th Day in ISO2GOD and it made the folders and everything fine. I then transferred ALL folders that were made to my 360 and the game name shows up on my dashboard and everything, but when I try to click Play Game the 360 tells me "Can not play Army of Two: The 40th Day". Any suggestions? I have also tried extracting the .iso and then rebuilding it with that program that says it makes .iso's compatible with ISO2GOD, and then running that .iso through ISO2GOD. I even checked the .iso with abgx360 v1.0.2 and it says everything is fine and dandy. What am I doing wrong here? Am I supposed to copy ALL of the folders to the 360? Because that is what I did with XEXMENU FTP... HELP!

I had a similar problem with this game which was solved by applying the Avatar update to my Jtag'd box. If you already have fully working Avatars then maybe somebody else can help further.

I got my copy from the xbox.com webiste. Have a look for "$SystemUpdate_Fall09_8955.zip". I then placed the extracted $SystemUpdate folder on the root folder of my USB stick, connected this to my xbox and loaded up.

You will be advised that a system update is being performed but this did not impact my Jtag. There are numerous others posts and topics saying this is fine to apply to a Jtag'd machine.

I hope this helps.

Well, I have been reading up and I think it is impossible for me to do the avatar update due to the fact that I have a big block Jasper. sad.gif I even tried extracting the .iso and deleting the system update folder and it will still not work. It just says "The game could not start."

I just want to chime in here. If anyone is having issues where games get a "cannot start" error. Make sure the DVD drive is empty.

I am not sure if there is a game in my DVD drive right now, but if there is...I will laugh!
