Just out of curiosity are you playing online or is the network being bogged down by P2P or other programs?  Maybe a little network clutter slowing the connection.

Nope, just playin against my roomate and not on live.  Also, not d/l anything and no other network activity.  It doesn't seem to skip when just on the dashboard.  The only other game i have to test out is PGR but haven't played that a lot.  i'll try it out tomorrow.
