Title: Dlna3 Device? What Are They?
Post by: GoDKiLLaX on May 23, 2007, 08:09:00 PM
I see the new 1.8 firmware is coming out tomorrow and I wanted to know if I'm able to utilize this DLNA3 thing to stream video off my NAS, Windows box, or Mac. I read the wiki entry on DLNA and it doesn't say much.

Well to answer my own question, you can use orb media server on windows side.  the ps3 sees it and list the files. works pretty well with music and photos

You don't need anything extra program wise. Windows Media Player 11 does the job fine.
Click on Library in windows media player then sharing and enable sharing and streaming.
WMP11 icon shows up on the PS3
Good feature this.

Thanks Guys. Nero home works so far with standard stuff but i guess i gotta install some codecs since i play everything on my PC with VLC i usually don't install them and i usually stream everything with XBMC i just wanted to play with the PS3 feature.

XBMC still miles ahead for streaming content.
