Nice work Angerwound. Did you also add support for WD BEVS drives ? The old version didnt, because after formatting it on the x360, it contained one partition less than the original MS drive and therefor your tool rejected it. After adding the partition info manually, it worked though. But it would be nice if it worked without having to edit partition info manually. If you want me to test something, I'd be happy to help out.

Ok, I just tried the new update to Xplorer with my 120gb hdd and got a fatX error. Heres All the info maybe Anger, Roofus or someone can help me out:

The Hdd is a "specialist" of the 120gb hdd that I purchased and works fine when connected to the 360. This is the first time the 120gb hdd has been connected to the computer. When I first connected it to the compter by using XSATA, windows proceeded like I installed a new hdd. In device manager under Disc drives I now see
"Fujitsu MHW2120BH USB Device". However when I try ro access the drive via Xplorer I get a fatx error.

So my questions are:

1) What can I do?

&

2) Has anyone been successful with their "Specialist" hdd?

** My Operating System is Windows XP SP2 **

Well, to get a 20 gb WD BEVS recognized in xplorer360, you can edit sector 1024 (=0x400) = byte 0x80000. You need to make it look like:

58 54 41 46 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 01

So, the easy way to do this: open your drive with winhex( http://www.x-ways.net/winhex.zip ) by pressing F9, select your WD BEVS drive, press <ALT>+G, use position 80000 (hexadec) and then edit these 16 bytes starting at 0x80000 to look like above. Save it and then xplorer360 will work, at least with the 20 gb version

Not sure if this will do the job for the 120 gb version, haven't tried this myself yet.

what is so strange is that when I hooked my WD hddhackr drive up to the PC after reformating it I could see it with Xplorer360 beta 5 but now I get a fatx Error with the new Beta 6.  It will be awesome if we had support for the WD BEVS drives as well.   Thank you all for your hard work.

Thanks TS! I went ahead and followed your directions with the 120gb WD BEVS and xplorer sees the drive now!  So thats a step in the right direction.  THe only thing is, I think I now have the same problem that everyone does with their retail drives, only partitions 0 and 3 show up and neither have a plus sign next to them.  Hopefully Angerwound will point Roofus over to this thread

I did a little analysis of your xplorer360 tool, hope you don't mind (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

The problem with BEVS drives is twofold. First of all, your tool wants to see a FATX partition at 0x80000. This partition does not exist on WD BEVS drives, not even after it's formatted on the 360. It's probably created at the MS Headoffice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Anyway, after adding the partition manually (like i posted), xplorer360 then will continue as normal.

However, the 2nd problem is that xplorer360 somehow thinks that the root directory cluster is at byte 0x131229000. While this holds indeed true for my 20 gb drive, it's not correct for my 120 gb drive. At byte 0x131229000 there's only a directory entry for the 'Cache' directory (and that's why xplorer360 only lists that 'cache' directory when i click on partition 3).

The 'true' root directory cluster for my 120 gb drive is at 0x132973000 (while the partition itself is unchanged of course, at 0x130EB0000)

I haven't done enough research yet to find out how your tool determines the root directory cluster (I scanned quickly for a hardcoded value, couldn't find it at first glance), but obviously that's where it goes wrong. I hope you guys have some time to release a fix, if not, let me know if it is ok if i would release a small patcher for your wonderful tool, to make it compatible with the WD BEVS series (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

kind regards,

TS

I did a little analysis of the xplorer360 tool and found a way to make it compatible with my 120 gb BEVS. Here's how to do it in 2 steps:

1) First add the missing partition manually starting at byte 0x80000 of your WD BEVS.

Save it, restart the xplorer360 Beta 6 and the FATX error should be gone and you should see 2 partitions now. However, there'll be no data shown yet.

2) To get the data shown, exit xplorer360 and fire up your hexeditor again, but this time open the xplorer360.exe itself with it. Make sure you're using the beta v6 version. At offset 0xF0C2 you'll find:

68 77 03

You need to change these 3 bytes into:
00 C2 1A

Save it (make a backup !), restart it and you can now see the contents of the WD BEVS 120 gb, at least I can wink.gif

BTW, this 'hack' won't work with the 20 gb version, so it's best to make a backup of the xplorer360.exe and use the 'unhacked' original version if you want to access a 20 gb hdd !

BTW2: There's no guarantee this will work, it worked for me, but it might not work for you. This xplorer360 hack might result in loss of data on your HDD, so make sure you're testing it on a clean WD BEVS and not one which contains a lot of important data wink.gif

Please give me feedback on results smile.gif

LOL, i just transferred the contents (music + save games) from my WD-BEVS-RST to the WD-BEVS-LAT drive and my x360 liked it ! Everything worked, music and save games biggrin.gif

Best (and safest) way to do it, is (after you modded the xplorer360 like posted above) : right click on partition 3, extract it to some folder on your PC HDD, then load the modded/hacked xplorer360 and drag the contents that you saved to disk, to partition 3 again.

You might also use the 'image' function in xplorer360 but I don't know if that works ok with the modifications ... Only 1 way to find out wink.gif

@ Angerwound:

The reading of the wrong directory cluster is indeed caused by the way you calculate it. You're calculating it like:

Root directory cluster = cluster chain start+ cluster chain length.

Cluster chain length = 4 byte entries * (partition size in bytes /$4000 bytes per cluster).

This of course is correct, but the problem is that you've hardcoded the partition size in your tool. If you correct that partition length for the 120 gb version (like i did in the small patch I suggested above), it all works smile.gif I think you've just overlooked that partition size when you released beta v6.

BTW: tell Roofus that the tool was very well and 'clean' coded ! (allthough he probably knows that himself, hehe wink.gif ) He sure knows what he's doing. Respect !

Good to hear it worked for you too, that kinda confirms that everything is ok (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

However, i would like to stress once more that people using this mod do NOT use the 'image' facilities of xplorer360. If you want to do that, do it on your own risk (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I haven't looked at it in detail, but there's a chance that this might mess up your data. If you want to use the image function, I suggest you just wait for a new official release from Angerwound/Roofus.

So in short: just extract the contents of partition 3 (which contains all your data like gamesaves, video and music) and copy it to another hdd. That works perfectly and is probably all you want anyway. Enjoy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I did some reverse engineering and hacking and here's a version I fixed to work with 120 gb:
http://rapidshare.co...rer360.rar.html
This particular version won't work with the 20 gb though.

I've also added an option to dump the hddss.bin with, it's under the 'edit menu'. You can currently only dump hddss.bin, not save it back yet, might add that next week if there's still no official release from the creators smile.gif In that  case, I might also release a version that works for all hdd's (20gb + 120gb) smile.gif

Image facilities work, but don't write a 20 gb version to a 120 gb hdd wink.gif

I hope Angerwound/Roofus will release a fixed version within the next few days though, since it's way more work to create/add things without having the source code wink.gif

BTW, I'm talking about a 'release' next week, but this is in no way a 'release' and I also dont' want it to be added to the main page of this site, it's just a temporarily version. This tool is from Angerwound and Roofus, and a release would seriously do not right to their work, I know they've put a lot of work into it and mine was just a few hours. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Just wanted to help out with a quick fix until they release their next version of this kickass tool (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

OK I believe I have a work around for the BEVs drive and partition 2, but it is not simple.  I have been scratching my head wondering "What is everyone talking about?" Cause my partition2 is there and emulation works on my 120GB BEVs drive.  Well I figured out why it does for me and not others!  Here is what you would have to do.  Warning though you will lose your data on the drive!

OK First off run the undo.bin your drive.   Now use a hddss.bin from a 20GB drive with hddhacker v.91 and get it to be seen in explorer360 with the hex edit on the drive (Not xplorer360).  You will have to use a unedited version of explorer360 cause the drive will be like a 20GB drive not the 120GB cause of the 20GB hddss.bin.  Now restore your 120GB drive with a 20GB Drive image.  Then test it in the 360 it should show up as the 20GB drive with all the 20GB data.   Now your prolly saying this is pointless.  Well nope it created partition 2 for you.   now run the undo.bin once more and then use the hddss.bin from your 120GB drive!   Then put it back in your 360 and it will show the wrong size with corrupted data and you will have to reformat.  after you reformat the drive it will look normal.  Now load the drive back up on your PC with explorer360 and you will have partition 2 now and the ability to do xbox1 emulation.   Then just transfer your saves as previously stated by TheSpecialist from your 20GB drive to your PC and then from your PC to the 120GB drive.   I am sure that if anyone can find an easier way than my method it will be TheSpecialist.  If you have any questions feel free to ask.

wow, all downloads are console locked and that is piracy! piracy=not allowed on XS forums.

also, you cannot just add partition 2 and expect it to update when you put a game in. You need all the files from partition 2.
unfort for me i dont have those files. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Ok, here it is: http://rapidshare.com/files/32035087/Xplor...treme2.rar.html
This is the xplorer360 v6 pimped up by me to the 'extreme build 2' version, LOL.

First a disclaimer: this version might contain bugs and thus screw up your data if you save changes to it. Therefore, it is ALWAYS advisable to make a backup of the files on partition 3 first !! Also it is advisable to have a backup of the whole 20 gb original HDD.

What's changed from the original V6 version:
* Now works correctly with both 20 gb AND 120 gb drives
* Now also works on WD BEVS drives which don't have all the needed partitions
* Added option to dump hddss.bin
* Added option to dump partition 2 to image
* Added option to restore image to partition 2

Of course, this version was mainly done to give you guys an easy way to transplant the emulator, which resides on partition 2. Here's how to do it:

1. Attach your original HDD (20 gb or 120 gb) which contains the emulator
2. Run this new version, open HDD and choose "backup partition 2". This should create a 262 MB file.
3. Shut down the computer (so don't 'hot' swap the HDD !), replace the HDD with the WD BEVS and reboot
4. Open the HDD with this new version. To be safe, first double click on partition 3 and extract all files to a directory on your PC, in case something goes wrong with this new version.
5. After you've made a backup of those files, now choose "restore partition 2" and select the 262 MB file you've created in step 2.
6. Restart the xplorer360 tool to see the new contents on partition 2 !

That's it !

Oh yeah, last thing: in order for your new WD BEVS to get detected in this xplorer360 version, it needs to have the partition 3 on it. This partition will exist if you've formatted the HDD in the 360 before. If you have never had the WD BEVS in your x360, then first format the drive in your x360. After that, this explorer360 will show 'partition 1' (this means it's missing partition 2) and then you can restore partition 2, restart and then you'll see partition 2 and 3.

Enjoy !

P.s This is an 'unofficial' release. The original xplorer360 is done by Angerwound and Roofus, so big credits to them. I made the changes listed above, without their participation and without having the source code.

Hello. I tried to backup my old core hard disk and then restore the image to my new pro hard disk, but I got a bug at the end of the process: Completion bar remianed full for about 40 minutes without ever giving a message that backup was restored succesfully... Is that normal? I haven't yet had chance to test restored image on my pro console though.

ok i read a different guide before reading this one and what i did is use this modified version 6 and i did a backup of E000000XXX  from 20gig and then i hooked up the 120gig and just dragged all the game saves into the exact same folder.........on the 120gig hard drive i recoverd the gamer tag first and then dragged and dropped the saved games......when it was doing this it asked to overwrite a file already there and i chose yes sad.gif and now when i hook up the 120gig to the 360 it says no memory found.....is there a way to recover this?

I've just dl'd this version of xplorer and I really hope it works better than the others. When I format my drive it says "107Gb available" which would be correct as the formatting steals 13Gb. But when I copy my partition 2 and 3 folders over, I only have 12Gb free and I get a message saying "the remaining space is reserved for system use". I also cannot see any of my old content either.

Second the request for a repost - RapidShare's decided it's a forbidden file and complaints have been received....

Anyone got an alternate link or able to host the file?

I used Antman1's process and it worked fine:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=3991790

Was easier than trying to find that file and now I am done with messing around with this and my 120gb BEVS works a charm even with halo2.

scratch that, it appears just to be beta 6, not the extreme 2, here's an extreme 2 one, tested before posting this time.

a quick follow up.

today i successfully installed a WD BEVS LAT drive in my xbox360.

I bought the drive from here:

http://www.scan.co.u...roductID=576184

120 Gb Western Digital WD1200BEVS Scorpio, 2.5", SATA150, 5400 rpm, 8MB Cache, 12 ms - £43.76 biggrin.gif

I backed up my old 20GB hdd (extracted all the files on partition 3 to a folder) and saved partition 2 to an image file using xplorer360 extreme build 2.

I grabbed HDDHacker 0.91.  Edited it so that it worked with my NForce3 SATA ports, grabbed a 120gb bin SS and installed that on the HDD.

I then fired up my xbox360 with the new hdd connected up and formatted the drive.

then i reconnected it to my pc and restored the extracted files to partition 3 and restored the image of partition 2.

popped the hdd back in the 360 and everything appears to work ok apart from a couple of saved games.   Notably viva pinata - you can see the game saves in the dash, but viva pinata complains that they're corrupt. sad.gif

It looks like games that you can't copy to a memory card can't be copied to a new/larger/different hdd.  Other game saves, games, demos, videos and music copied ok and xbox1 compatibility was retained.

If anyone has a fix for getting these saved games working again that'd be great!  My guess is there's some additional checking done when the game save is loaded to see if it's being loaded from the device it was originally saved to.

@The Specialist, care to comment?

Thanks to everyone involved in HDDHackr and Xplorer360, I was able to buy a 512MB memory card and a 120GB drive AND still have £50 left over from the money that I would have had to use buying an original MS 120GB HDD!!!  Awesome work. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I recently purchased a 120GB HDD kit when they went on sale at Amazon. I'm hoping I can use xplorer360 to transfer from my 20GB to the 120. I have the included transfer cable and have successfully used it to connect the 120GB to my PC and read it using the extreme 2 build. The thing that bothers me is that it sounds like all my arcade downloads and other DLC will require that I be connected to authorize and play them after using the transfer cable as Microsoft intended. Is it possible to use xplorer360 or some other tools to do the 20gb to 120gb transfer and still retain the "offline" capacity for my XBLA games?

Sorry I'm probably being incredibly dense but I just wanted to ask a couple of questions:

1) Can this definitely be used with the official 120GB M$ drive that comes with the elite system?
2) As I'm not too keen on cracking open my xbox or the drive just yet does anyone know if this program works with the X360 USB device?

I read a tutorial somwehere on transfering old original xbox game saves over to the 360 so it'd be really useful!

I have a pretty large volume of music on my computer and was wondering if Xplorer360 will allow me to first save my music to the 360 and then to access the music on the 360 from my computer and then play them. I guess what i want is to stream music from my xbox to the computer, instead of from my computer to my xbox is that possible or anything like that that i can do?

thanks

i've bought an original (?!?) xbox360 hard disk of 120mb but it hasn't the partition 2 even after i update with backward compatibility.
Now i've manually added the partition 2 with the Specialist instruction, but i've not another hd from wich restore the partition 2 (the emulator one).

Can anyone upload his one for me, or indicate somewhere from download it?
thanks.

I’m kind of new to this. I was able to get this program to work and get my PC to see the drive. I want to add my own Videos, Pictures, and Music to the 360 drive. I can import files but the 360 don’t know what they are. I assume I have to convert them first and add them to special folders. Can any one help please?

Count me in as to having the above problem as well..

My 360 HD is connected to my PC via Xecuter's 360HD Dongle.  I was able to image Partition 2 from a 20 gig and apply it to a 120G bev using Extreme 2 Xplorer360 with no problem.  But when I tried to apply the Part 3 image, it hangs.  Ran all night and only made it to 5 "bars"...  I had read that you can't do an IMAGE, you must extract the files.  I tried that first and got a "cannot write cluster somethingID out of range" error..

Thinking that the 360HD Dongle might be to blame, I pulled the HD out of the case and did a direct connect to the SATA card (VT6421A).  It's been running about an hour and is at 6 bars..  I'll let ya'all know if it works..

M$ Cable???

Are you saying that you can hook up two 360s together via a Cat-5 Crossover cable and copy the HD that way???

Alright all. I just purchased a Talismoon MiniSpy SATA adapter kit for the X360 HDD. It installed fine and I was able to connect my 120 GB Elite HDD easily. I downloaded 'Xplorer360 Beta 6 Extreme 2' and all ran smoothly. The app detected Partitions 0, 2 and 3. I was able to browse 2 and 3 with ease. I was also able to create a backup of HDD and transfer files to and from my PC HDD to the 360 HDD. The backup dumping took like two hours and created a 100+ GB file.

The whole reason I got the device and app was so I could backup my 100% Assassin's Creed savefile and beat the game again in order to get the notorious 'Conversationalist' achievement. I was able to restore my original savefile after I did what I had to do and all is well.

I found the 'Beta 6 Extreme 2' version of the app over at Technofranki's website. Browse to the bottom of the page to find the link: http://technofranki....ddrive-and.html

Good luck to all of you and remember never to resign gamesaves and store them as your own. tongue.gif lol If anyone has any problems, let me know.

i got a wd scorpio 120 gb, and soldered sata and power cable on the mainboard,
now i can switch the 360hdd between x360 and pc..BUT
the only reason i actually bought the scorpio was to put music and hd-wmv on it..
i put music on the hdd but the 360 doesnt show it, and obviously the fatx system cant handle files larger than 4GB, so wmv-hd is not possible also...(of course the hdd is made compatible with hddhackr...it is recognized and fully functional for xbox live content)
is there any way to put music or videos on the 360 hdd ??
(do i need a profile saved on the hdd...because i just got a core version and all my profiles are on the memory unit..)
thanks

TO ALL WHO ASK ABOUT TRANSFERRING MUSIC TO THEIR 360 HDD:

Stoner of 360hax.com hinted on his guide that Xbox 360 music is just a standard .wma file with a custom header. I tried to look into this some more and found this page saying that the Xbox 360 rips WMAs at 192 kbps. Supposably it has a sample rate of 41000 Hz, I don't remember where I read this, though. I opened up a file ripped by my Xbox 360 via Xplorer360 in a hex editor. Here is what I saw:

0x00 - 0x0C: The very first thirteen bytes are the same for every file (that I have): 46 4D 49 4D 00 00 00 01 00 01 00 01 00

0x0D: The Song Title, padded with zeores (ex. F.a.n. .t.h.e. .F.i.r.e is 46 00 61 00 6E 00 20 00 74 00 68 00 65 00 20 00 46 00 69 00 72 00 65), and followed by zeroes

200x0D: The Album, padded with zeroes and followed by zeroes

400x0D: The Artist, padded with zeroes and followed by zeroes

600x0D: Artist again, same format

800x0D: The Genre, padded with zeroes and followed by zeroes

A00x0D: Genre again, same format

C00x0D: This looks like where the WMA audio stream starts.

Tomorrow, I may try replacing the data at C00x0D to the end with a different WMA, to see if it plays on my Xbox 360. (I have to find where the actual audio stream starts in a real WMA file first  smile.gif ) If this works, maybe someone (not me, I have next-to-no programming experience) can make a simple GUI to write files with this specification.

I'm having a small (huge) problem, and I'm almost sure that I have a dead Xbox 360 120GB drive back home.

Here is the situation. We have two HDD, one 20GB and the other 120GB. I was testing with the 20GB drive, made a full image of the drive. After that, I didn't notice that my brother swapped the drives on the console, I didn't check or anything, I when I got back home, I just restored the 20GB image on the 120GB console.

As the sh*t is done, I'm just asking if there is anything possible to save the drive, since it's not working on the console anymore, but Xplorer360 can still acess all the data on it.

I'm having a weird problem here,I flashed a 120GB BEVS with hddhackr with the proper hddss.bin and then formatted it on the 360,it's working fine on it and it lists as 107GB is left. The problem is when trying to add the files from the backup I made with my saves, when I insert a folder,it will do all the transfer, but none of the folder and files will appear listed on the partition after that. The most weird thing is that I can both add invidual files and create new folders manually.I tried it with Windows XP and Windows Vista, each of it with different sata chipsets, and I also tried with a SATA to USB adaptor,no luck.I also did try to restore a backup image,it always hang somewhere during the transfer,I tried it more than 10 times, when restoring from the image several files and folder are listed on the partition, but as it doesn't finish all the transfer there still files left to add to it.
Has anyone have any idea how I solve this issue?I think I will have to buy a memory card just to transfer all my data, the program just doesn't work,I also tried several times reformatting it and undo the flash and doing it again.

Ok,the way I solved the problem seens to make no sense for me,but it worked. If anyone has a similar problem add a new folder to the partition you want to add the folder, enter it,and in it insert the folder you want, the folder will be uploaded to the root and after the transfer it lists the files just fine.

Haven't used Xplorer360 since about a week after it came out. Backed up a game save and now have a 360 again as the other kept freezing so i sold it. When i connect HDD and view with Xplorer360 i see the following data structure:

454107Db  ( Main save directory )
1000001    ( Sub Dir )         ( number maybe little off )
ProfileID    ( File )               ( Acutall game save file )

                  NOW I SEE

451007b ( Directory ) ( Now when i transfer this directory the 360 doesn't see the save anymore )

11540F4914CA    ( Subdirectory )
dateinfo.xbx        ( File )
TitleImage.xbx    ( File )
TitleMeta.xbx       (File)

I am now thing it may be due to the newer software that has changed, gamesaves don't get broken down into
files and now stay 1 whole image file of the oringal save. It used to work for me when i transfered a Main Directory with a Sub Directory including 3 files .

I'm having trouble copying files to my PC. I managed to make an image with Xplorer, but if I want to copy Partition 3 files, it freezes with one of two errors: either 'cylinder out-of-bounds' or 'recursive folder creating something'.

I've tried it on Vista both with and without admin rights, also tried it on XP, still to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Try transfer less folders at a time. Specially the larger ones.

-----

I'm with a very specific question now. I just bought an Xbox 360 Elite, and a Memory Unit, to transfer the saved games from the old 20GB to the new 120GB Drive. Everything smooth, except that I can't copy the likes of Forza 2 and Viva Piñata (Well, screw VP, I just want Forza 2 anyway...), as the system informs that those itens cannot be transfered between memory devices.

Sooooo... I was thinking about to transfer the game folder from the 20GB to the new 120GB drive, but, will it work? I mean, is Forza 2 gamesave protected so it will only work with the drive that it was originally created?

Better ask than brick another 120GB drive (see last page).

Drive may not be bricked. If explorer360 can see it and write to it, its not.

Oh, and PM in box.

Hi there,

My broken 360 has just returned so i've finally managed to complete my attempt at moving from a 20GB Xbox 360 drive to a 120GB model.

I purchased the required WD Scorpio drive a week or so ago and i'd already used the HDDHackr tool to patch the drive.

I've now formatted the drive on the Xbox but strangely when I put it back into the PC and launch Xplorer360 I found that only the first partition was visible.  I've found another article on teh interwebs which describes creating the partition tables by using WinHex so i've done this.

I've now ended up with Partitions 0, 2 and 3.  Number 2 i've restored using a modded version of Xplorer 360 (the version which lets you restore the whole partition from a .bin file).  I'm now dragging and dropping the files for Partition 3 into the drive.

Does this sound correct?  Is the numbering correct - 0, 2 and 3?

I really just want confirmation that everything is in order.  For now i'm going to boot the 20GB drive - i'll test the 120GB drive later.  Am I correct in saying that so long as there's no dashboard update the only partition that would need copying again is Partition 3?

If you want to play the bc xbox1 games you need the partition 2 data also. Or, just login to live and put your bc game in to play...

What do you mean about a dashboard update? The fall one?

Right now, nothing else is needed from your hd. In the fall of course, your hd games will go there!

Been trying to back up the files off my 20gb all day - if I make one giant backup file, it tops out at the normal 18.something GB but I cannot open it once I reboot and switch to the 120gb drive. But if I try Extract, I see all these files being 'dumped' but nothing writing to the PC hd. Any suggestions?

I dont know why, but while extract, files are first dumped to a temp directory on C: drive and then copied to the location you specified. Make sure you have enough space on C:

Sometimes the process hangs or loops (i had infinite loop on content folder) so try extracting one (sub)folder at a time.

hi guys,

today I replaced my 20gb with an 120gb hdd, all worked fine but Xplorer360_extreme2 doesnt work for me.

I am using vista 32bit and with the old 20gb all worked fine (when I start Xplorer360 as admin),  but when I start Xplorer360_extreme2 as admin, I can only see Partiton1, Part2 and Part3 are missing.
Whats wrong with it ?

any ideas

I've been using beta 6 with my 20GB HDD and it's worked great. I got a 120GB drive the other day though and used the "official" transfer kit it came with. Now I can't open partition 3 on the drive (120GB). Any help would be awesome.

So yeah, it has nothing to do with the official transfer kit. I can still access all the partitions on my 20GB drive. I guess the code wasn't changed properly to support 120GB HDD's. Wish I had some insight on how to fix it. Hopefully you guys know and are on it.

I did a little analysis of the xplorer360 tool and found a way to make it compatible with my 120 gb BEVS. Here's how to do it in 2 steps:
1) First add the missing partition manually starting at byte 0x80000 of your WD BEVS.

Hi I've tried the steps but got stumbled when I was going to hexedit the drive.
As I select the drive to be hexedit, an error message appear and I got nothing but zeros in the hexedit display.
When I try to read it using xplorer360 beta 6, I got an error message and when I tried to read it using Xplorer360 extreme 2, only partition 1 showed up.
Can you please tell me what did I did wrong.

Thanks!!!

I too need support for a 60 gig. I just used my bestbuy PRP to swap from my 20 to this 60, and thought I got a good deal until I got home and have had no luck pulling over my Partion 3 folders compatability, and content. Doesn't matter if you use xplorer360 or xport. They both crash about as much and don't allow my profile or memory to be viewable in the dash. sucks  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Loxodonte, are you connecting your HDD through eSATA? cause that made xport fail to recognize it on my laptop, hooked it up to a conventional SATA port on my desktop and Xport found it.
xplorer360 still didn't work though. but my problem was solved: migrating my xbox1 saves to 360

Hi Johnny, no, I can view the contents of the drive ok, it's jut when transfering stuff into the 60 gig where it gets all messed up. It worked fine before when I regularly edited my 20 gig with Xplorer 360 and Xport360.

As a temporary work around I've used xplorer to transfer files out of my last 20 gig image to a memory card, and then transfered that to my new 60 gig. Of course I'm missing tons of content as I just pulled over a few game saves. Can't blame xplorer360 on this...but xport360 says it supports 60gigs and obviously does NOT. In fact, even on my old 20 gig I used explorer360 because it was far more stable.

it worked in windows, could view it contents and transfer data in windows when hooking it up to a native sata controller(intel) instead of eSata on my desktop, worked with the datel Xport software.
xplorer360 didn't work though.
my advice is: use xport.

second: this is a free homebrew program, you should be happy it even exists.
the writer of it still has a living to make or studies to complete, he can't continuously write code just because you want him to.

i dont think i have ever had this much trouble with a 120gb drive.

flashed the drive... ok
formatted in my 360... ok
tested with a game.. game saves good and visible in the dashboard as a good game save.
107gb space.... ok....

hook the hard drive up to my VIA controller.... boot into windows... DOH!!! fatX error!!

windows sees the drive,,, ok
via controller ok (works in dos to flash the drive)... ok

guys i have seen countless people not able to make the 120gb drives work,, WHY???
i have done this with 2 other drives with NO issues.. ok it was quite a while ago so i bet i am forgetting something but i dont think so...

whats the deal,,,

also when i first tell xplorer360 to open the drive i can here the WD BEVS make a very faint clicking noise as if its locking itself...

so i put the drive back into the 360 and everything is ok...

but xplorer360 will NOT see the drive... whats going on fellas..

p.s.
i made a backup of my 20gb drive 100% perfect, no problems. all 3 partitions saved.

And the second part of my preview post doesn't anyone knows what exactly is the use of the "tdbx.db" thar is in the folder "partition 2\compatibility\tbdx\"
If i delete it from the original 20gb hard disk or if i don't put it to my new modificated western digital bevs scorpio 120gb hard disk is there a change to have any problem?

ok i finally got it to go after many hddhackr -f and formatting using the 360.

BUT

using xbplor360 beta6 when i put the individual files on the hard drive from my original drive. (i extracted each partition) everything goes ok, nothing hangs, but when putting the hard drive back in the 30, 1 time it said only 14gigs free, and saw no game saves, or profiles, or anything. another time it saw 30gigs free, no game saves, profiles, etc etc....

whats going on guys, do i need to hex edit this drive like i saw a few pages ago ?
I am VERY confused as to why this is happening.

i tried another 120gb BEVS drive that i use in my unmodded 360 and everything works great....
but this new one,,, weirrrdddd

I am using Xplorer360.beta6 to transfer media to my Sandisk cruzer micro 4gb (this pen have ready boost) to open later in XBMC but takes ages to transferring something compared to the normal every day use of a pen.
I know this an workaround to my problem that i wouldn´t mind using at all but the slowness makes a big disadvantage compared the way i use to do: transferring thru DVD/CD.

I say that is a workaround because i know that the pen should work with fat32 without any problem and because i know that XBMC reads Fat32 and besides the pen being part the compatible lists (only difference is the last number of the model number.) there also this post http://blog.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30771 where they say most work and the only difference is also the last number of the model number.

Thanks, would be great if your nice tool would standard have WD BEVS support too.

Regards,

TS

i found a lot of answers on this forum by simply reading and searching. But on this one, i really have to make my first post.

I'm having one of the newer xbox 360 (Liteon dvd) with a HDD 60gb Toshiba MK6052GSX.
I've tried 5 xplorer360 versions (dont know if they were all different) and 1 xport360 (v1.2)
The xplorers allow me only to read partition 2 and sometimes partition 3 (strange characters).
In Xport360 i can read all partitions but still strange characters in partition 3 and when browsing the directories the software freezes or crashes.

I'm using SATA VIA 6421 and a team xecuter hdd adapter that came with the CK3.

-Is there a hex edit for the 60gb toshiba drive?
-who has had success with a 60gb toshiba  drive ?
if yes:
-which software?
-which hardware?

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

is it possable to recover deleted data from a memory card with this program? The data hasn't been overwriten.

I'm also wondering if there is a way to recover a deleted gamesave, but not from a memory card. I deleted it from my 120gb hard drive. Is there a way to use Xplorer360 to recover the data?

Please forgive the noob question but does 360gamesaves.com need an invite?  I'm having problems registering an account on their site.  I want to modify my saved game for Dead Space to give my self max credits/money.  If any one can tell me how to do that that would be awesome.

Hi all,
just yesterday I upgraded my LiteOn 60GB xbox to 1.5.1 and thought I'd try the HD connectivity kit that came bundled with the one for connecting the drive (both from diygadget). I've used all versions of explorer360 and the one modified by Datel called xport360 but all I get is a few subfolders in Partitions 1 & 2 and a great big empty Partition 3. I don't have an xbox live account so I only downloaded the dashboard update (new experience) and copied GTA IV on HD to play from there. Problem is, even if I can create new folders, copy files etc I still can't see anything on Partition 3. Tried connecting this drive to all 4 SATA Ports (ASUS M/B with Nvidia chipset) as one specific port used to work a lot better than the others when flashing drives, still no change. Any ideas?

Hey all,

I have a 60GB Hitachi drive and after some unsuccessful back and forth with Codejunkies support they released Xport version 2.06 (download from official website codejunkies.com) which detected my drive.

I should warn that it's a bit buggy but at least it works!

Does anyone know what the system requirements are for this sucker?  Unfortunately, the only computer that has the hardware for hooking up hard drives only has windows 95.  Will that work?
thanks!

thanks!

I was able to upgrade to a 120gb drive in about an hour...

But now when I try to play rockband I get an error that it stopped loading because of an unknown
error. I believe the answer is to get a memory unit, hook up my old 20gb and move the data from the
20gb to the MU to the 120gb drive.

If there is another way to do it let me know...I tried searching but I must be searching for the wrong terms.

I know it has been mnetioned that other people are having issues with it but I haven't seen a definate answer
that there is no way to fix it....or a definate way to fix it.

Note to everyone using Vista and above: You must run it as administrator for it to see your hard drives. It gives the FATX error if you are running it as standard user.

I have one question about this application: Should there be a Partition 1? I can see partitions 0, 2 and 3 in Xplorer360 but they don't contain saved games, themes or other stuff. Both partition 0 and 3 are empty and 2 has Xbox360 system files. Partition 2's index-file does point to Partition 1 though. (Files in \Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\...)

Edit: Never mind the last part. Extreme2 edition shows the files on partition 3.

Hello All,

Been looking for some support on accessing my 20gb hdd. So far I haevn't been able to do it.

I have both a XENO and a CK3 hdd connectivity kit, a sata card and internal sata. Both work fine with xbox360 dvd drives.

I own a 20gig hdd, which I'm unable to acces and a 120 gig drive which I am able to acces.

When I hook up the 120 gig drive and boot my pc all is well, the pc boots to XP and detects the drive (using the xeno adapter). Just using sata and molex, no usb. I can acces it using xplorer360, no problem at all.

However when I hook up the 20gig drive and boot my pc, it freezes at the bios. If I hook it up after the bios, the pc freezes again and won't go into xp. If I hook it up after booting, everything looks fine. BUT Xplorer360 gives the error code "Could not find a fatx drive to open"

I have no clue what to do here, tried it every way I know and back, but somehow I'm just unable to connect and acces my 20gig drive. It doesn't matter if I use sata & molex or usb & sata & molex, XENO or CK3.

Does anybody have a clue what I'm missing here? Or what to do?

THX in advance!!

This whole forcing users to register just to see anything, and furthermore, ONLY by invitation thing, is really gay.

Great.

My 360 Elite just came of age (12M) so I thought I'd backup the entire hard disk to my PC just in case the worst comes to the worst and I have to replace it.

So I carefully disassembled the disk box, took the disk out, hooked it up to the PC with a SATA/USB adaptor, and fired up Xplore360.

Got 3 partitions - 0, 2, 3. 3 was full of garbage. Closed the app. Reopened it, opened the disk again. Partition 3 was missing. Read the comments, couldn't figure out why the hell someone would release an app that was compatible with 3rd party Western Digital disks and not Fujitsu disks that come with the XBox, and put the disk back on the console.

Now it says the disk is unformatted. Goodbye to all my data.

Nice. Real fecking nice.

Can someone point me to some specs for the partition schema so I can fix it by hand??

When will it work for my USB drives and also the new xbox 360 250GB hard drive? I really want to modify my game save data.

Where's the older versions?

I don't think Xplorer is in development any more.

A lot of people still use the latest version of Xplorer, except most people like the fact that Xport shows game names and whatnot, or they use a thumb drive which Xplorer/Xport don't do.

HDD Explorers: Xport, Xplorer, Party Buffalo
USB Explorers:  Party Buffalo USBFATX

hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me out. I have gotten xplorer 360 extreme2 to work to a certain point. I have been able to see all partitions and I was able to save a backup image to my pc. I was very pleased with this, however I am trying to do something a bit more difficult and wanted to know if it was possible. Note: I have read all the tutorials and watched all the videos on youtube and I still don't get it. sad.gif At any rate, I want to take game saves off of my 20 gig hard drive put them on my pc, and then transferr them to my new 120 gig hard drive. (just got a new xbox 360) Is this possible? Can someone explain what the saves are? I am getting so confused with all the folders and numbered files. If this is anyway possible please guide me!
