Perhaps a bit more transparency.. I've noticed alot of images that look really well but the textures tend to overpower the actual text and images on the blades.

Click left thumbstick, than select a folder where you want to save your screenshots. You can FTP them to your PC.

Doing the guide is a pain in the ass to make sure it doesn't stretch it or distort it, so I just made it lighter instead.

Then if the picture has a center graphic, like PM3, then when you go to system blade, the PM3 logo in the center isnt in the center anymore and looks shit.

The problem that I have is most of these backgrounds are large files. They slow down the GUI. I know I read where Blackbolt said the interface will run much smoother in the next release. Will this be addressed as well? Also, what is the recommended maximum size/optimal file type for these backgrounds?

Using images with black backgrounds makes the text pretty difficult on the eyes, since it is also black. Black on black is a no no. I'm waiting to see if anyone knows how to change the font to white.

Some of these I like. Alot, I see something odd such as the opeth theme. You use one thing and repeat it. I don't like it. It looks too boring. I made a planet theme. Not great but no one noticed them since I didn't link the images.

their needs to be a way that if you select a directory it will load all the pics underneath (if correctly named) as the wallpapers .. that way we wouldn't have to make them into XPRs and anyone could quickly make themes .. also you wouldn't have to set each one ..

Its a tool that takes all the wallpapers that you make for a theme, and packs it in to a xpr file.
This is way users can upload 1 xpr file to the mc360/media folder, and choose it from the system blade

I'm using LGC's carbon theme. Very nice! I was so happy to get rid of that default setting. No offense i know that they are replicating the 360's colours, but i cant stand that gay pride colour set! haha

just an idea - would there be any way of putting a differant transparent colour overlay on each page, then people could use any picture they want without going into photoshop to do the same thing - not sure how feasable this would be to code into the skin but it seems this is wat a lot of people are doing for there wallpapers

I just put together a pretty cool ROBOTECH wallpaper set and i would like to share it. Could someone help me out w/ a place to upload this to? I plan on doing others aswell, macross plus, evangelion, voltron, transformers etc. I guess i either need a host or a recommendation on a good free hosting site. I plan on putting these in .rar packs, each w/ a few alternative blades. Something else is i found a Robotech font and replaced the mc360.ttf w/ that, its a little to big, but its goes w/ theme really well. I'll try and include a font in all my themed packs. So let me know if you can help,thanks.

I don't understand why everyone is in love with LGCs wallpapers. Not trying to flame here, But all they are is one image with diff. colors on each one. Almost everyone is doing this. Why not make a diff. thing per blade, with a style or theme. Like how I have planets. But I didn't go to each slide and put the same planet with diff. colors. Thats lazy and uncreative. I guess it could be my artistry side of me, but these are very uncreative.

okay, i have another stupid question, i'm trying to take screenshots of my wallpaper, the first few times i tried this, after taking the shot the menu would come up to select a place to put the screenshot. I never intentionally selected a place to put them, and if i accidentally did-i can't find them. Now that menu doesn't come up after i take a shot. How can i find them, i've looked every where inside of xbmc and almost everywhere on e:\ or how can i change the save dir. for screenshots. thanks

Loving your packs, currently running the grass one from the first batch, anyway, not sure on how familiar you are with sports and stuff but I would owe you many beers if you could come up with one based on Liverpool football club. You can only use these themed.xpr's with the default, is because carbon and glass are themes themselves.

Well, I have redone my wallpapers and also removed a few. The reason I redid some was I found myself a new method for making them where the colors are brighter and they are proper colors. Hope someone likes them. I'll post a few for tonight seeing as my imageshack account doesn't like me uploading too too many. Oh and another thing, they are named generically to keep things simple. Included in each set is a bg for each blade, the guide blade as well as a copy of the original. In case someone wants the colored version.

I noticed with 2 new sets I made that the character gets cut off on the side (have superman "peeking" in from the right). Not sure if has to do with the size because I am fairly certain (correct me if I'm wrong) but I think xbmc or mc360 (whichever) stretches the wallpaper to fit. So no matter what size, because of the blades actually taking up space on screen, you will always have a portion of the wallpaper being covered up.

Yea I will ul them as packs soon, I have actually redone all the ones I just posted, made them a little darker. They looked a little too bright on the xbox last night as I was going through them. I'll make a post once I get the packs together.

I see what you are refering to but ... i have tried many ways to adjust that and so far to no avail! I'm sure someone or myself will figure it out. The grey is so small i hardly notice it, and ignore it which is what i believe most people do.

yeah i know what your saying - I know myself how hard (if possible at all) it is to get this to work, I tried numerous times myself but because of the way the images are stretched to fit the blades I couldnt get them to look right.....

Hey EvilShindo i am posting your gears theme tonight along with 5 new ones, i have been using the wallpaper template and all i did was took my rectangle tool and copied the lines of the layer and then made a new document with the sizes pre-filled in and voila it works great!

Hi guys regarding the ones with top and bottom sections and the colour overlapping at the curved edges, i have noticed this too and tried to make a template to overcome this, but i done it using the Extras blade and when i put the image onto other blades noticed that all the other blades handle the images completely differently.

I wonder what way will be chosen as there is pros and cons to each way , but would just like a definative answer to this so as i know what direction i should proceed in when making my wallpapers.

If it works the way the Extras blade works just now it will be cool for sorting the rounded edges and still look fine once clicked into file manager etc

If its done the way the other blades do it it is possible to make a coloured section for the left hand TAB on the blade that doesnt let too much colour seep out when you go into file exploring.

I test all of my Borders b4 posting, on my television they sync up perfectly( not those corners, but like you said, ther'r a bitch). If not on yours i don't know what to tell you, i know they dont match up right on a 16:9. Mc360 is still in beta and so is its wallpaper, patience.

558x538 is the correct size and MC360 has no problem recognizing the size and adjusting accordingly. This is a very useful tool, so thanx!

Anyone know why http://www.tintense.com is only hosting a couple themes? Well ok there is more than a couple but from the looks of it they r from only one or two designers.

LGC, its up to you bro. HE started of w/ one, but the rest have been user uploaded since. I wondered what was holding you back, i thought you knew something i didn't

also, i would like your input on something, i think there need to be a catagory for wallpapers that are "desktop-ish", like your recent ones, or like ones labled "system" etc., and like Mr Jacks w/ the controllers pics etc. What do you think would be a good catagory name for this, are these desktops or is there a more accurate term? I'm not sure where to put mine until this gets resolved.

GreenfieldToys i realise the skin is at a very early stage and im not making any demands about this im only pointing it out as the issue of overlapping colour has been brung up and the template that i was trying to make would have solved this for 4:3 users and im sure someone could have done one for 16:9 users.
So the issue of blades handling images in different manners is something that should be pointed out ( if Team BB dont already know about it ) as it can make a real difference in the way some wallpapers look. Ive already posted a little about it in this thread on page 20 Post #295 with a couple of screen shots and the example template so you can have a look for yourself.
Im not asking for the problem to be fixed straight away but would like to know how the images will be handled throughout the skin in the long run as it does make a difference to how some wallpapers are made.

I shall do more screenshots tommorow when i can get at my xbox to explain this a lot better if you dont understand what im talking about.

AUDI- i understand perfectly what your saying, and my response was more aimed at someone else, coming up w/ the best possible set of templates posible is something i think several ppl are working on. This all gets done by sharing ideas and the tools to acheive them. The "corner issue" isn't an issue to me now, i see no way around it, there may be a curve out there that would compliment the blade stretched and not, but its so insignifigant of an issue at this point. it seems you have to use *zip. even though xbmc handles rar, python doesn't which is what the live marketplace is based on. sorry guys

however if yall zip it instead of rar, you can still upload to www.tintense.com.

nice job kizam. i checked out the butterfly pack and it was nice. however one file was named incorrectly. it's wallpaper-guidepanel.jpg, not wallpaper-guide. I fixed it on xbmc live. again, sweeeeeet job.

KIZAM- yeh i know all about pulling my hair out during the ftp process, which in part is why i got photoshop. there is a guide posted earlier in this topic for photoshop. it lets you check your work w/o ftp'n to the xbox. Anyway i love your work, Your making the kinda stuff i want to make, i just don't know how yet. Im pretty much just a pen and ink artist. I worked as a web page designer 10 years ago, so i know a little, but alot has changed. Thanks for the advice, what i could really use is a good tutorial on building 3d forms in PS. I'm sure theres one out there. Anyway keep it up, you've raised the bar!
