I love this game... owned every version since the original plus the demo that came with XBL way back when.... I'm disappointed that I can't customize my bike paint job more... maybe the starter bikes don't let ya  huh.gif

I had a pretty sweet one in motogp 3.... Love the offline almost more than the online... just feels weird to race with The Doc (Rossi) and see him in yellow after racing with him on a Repsol for so long... heck the GO!!!!!! bike threw me in motogp 3....

regretfully I believe so... couldn't really sit and look for it but did notice a bit... also noticed that on a track I set to have rain I had weird lines at the top of the screen ... that went between lap/position and lap/time kinda weird... didn't notice it on a sunny map... I'll try to get a picture if anyone wants...

btw... some of the extreme courses are amazing... I wrecked numerous times the first go round just staring in the distance...  blink.gif

just wish the GP bikes were as stable as the extreme bikes in a powerslide  mad.gif

even if this tore to hell I would still love it

the only time I noticed it in the demo when i wasnt racing very seriously, so I doubt it will bother me

cant wait till I get off work

The screen tearing isnt a be all end all but it is noticable. Can anyone give me some breaking/cornering tips?
Title: Motogp 06
Post by: lostboyz on June 14, 2006, 10:06:00 AM
using a manual greatly helps you in the corners and try different combinations of front and rear break. rear breaking will turn you fast but make you unstable and slide out, front breaking is what most drivers actually use.

Post by: sp3cialk on June 14, 2006, 10:55:00 AM
Well in real life I'll tend to use the front hard before a curve which helps in 2 ways.. one slows you down, two preloads your front forks ... if needed I'll use slight rear brakes in a curve as trailing brakes... not much or you'll lowside ... now I haven't been able to do this since motogp 2 because for some reason the be all brake (default X button) makes your rider lean more (in essence get off the bike more, always better for you to lean more than the bike.. if a peg would catch you'd be in trouble.. often a big mistake in young riders) so with motogp 3 and now 06 I've used the X button more and more... also mastering the powerslide can be a big advantage it helps to shoot your outta the turns...

please note most of this is from real life riding... in reality if you ever hit a track day they will teach you to corner with out touching the brake... just by your gearing... so that's why manuals tend to have an advantage... but they do take practice...

I can't find this game in stores! No one seems to have it today. I have it on the way from gamefly, but i'm just too impatient to wait till friday laugh.gif Off to some best buy's I guess.....

let me know on the best buy, i was going to hit that on my way home from work

I personally use the joystick for acc/braking then click them in for gear shifting, ever since I gave that a shot I havent been able to do it any other way. If you havent tried it I suggest you give it a shot. As far as live goes the manual racers generally always beat an automatic if they have any idea what they are doing.

OK for those who have it... tell me if this happens to you... I go into single player.. time trials... and if i hit left or right on the d-pad it locks up everything and I have to either turn off my box with the power button or my remote... what gives???

ok dang it... used the analog and it did it too

OK... well after a little searching... I think I may know what's causing my problem of not being able to check my friend's scoreboard... I believe if you have over 25 friends you'll have this problem as well... I have a friend who was able to check his without locking up and he only had 15 friends... so I'm hoping they will put an update out that fixes this...

also... I've heard of this happening too... Damage to player profile: in single player, if you are on a GP bike and chose a set of Streetfighter leathers, you will be locked out of GP mode and from then on could only race on Extreme tracks. Only option is to delete gamesaves and rebuild rider all over again.

just giving warning... so you don't lose everything... I haven't confirmed this... but who would want to?

Thx for the notice sp3cialk. I dunno if its just me lately.. but if you look at your guys gamertags, theres an empty space where motogp should be... I think i've gone crazy.

Anyways, any tips for riding a bike? I bought it to learn something other than 4 whells.. and i suck really bad at this game!

I took lostboyz advice and switched to using the right analog for gas/brake.... you wouldn't imagine how much better I've done since... I wasn't bad before but now i feel I have alot more control... one thing is that using A for gas isn't the best idea... I have a friend that uses one trigger for gas and the other for brake moved seperate brakes to the bumpers... both the triggers and the analogs are better for a more sensitive feel than a plain on/off that i was tending to get with the A button.... now if you really wanna shine get good with manual gears... but a good thing to think is slow down for the twistys... if you fly into them you'll just get thrown out slow into them and fly out... take a course mugello seems to be a popular choice but it was in the demo... and practice in like time trials... that way you are competing against yourself.. also learning the maps never hurts... if you know what's coming up you can prepare for it...

yea and the Game icon for motogp isn't showing up here... not sure why... does on xbox and the flash version of my GC from MyGamerCard.net must just be something with their jpg??? but who knows....

One thing that works great is the X button. It makes the bike lean much more(manual says auto-brake, but it seems to lean harder uhh.gif ). As for advice....Brake early, use both triggers to slow quickly. Let off the front brake(so the bike will turn), get on the power and hopefully you're still on pavement.  Works like a charm for me.
Title: Motogp 06
Post by: lostboyz on June 16, 2006, 05:46:00 AM
well really the trick that a lot of people dont get is that as compared to a auto-racing game, you can brake in a turn. Phyiscally on a bike if you try to brake midst a turn you will snap up, so slowing down before the turns and using gears to control your position in the turn is key. I guess ill have to try the x button out but im betting you they put it there for  people who use an automatic.
Title: Motogp 06
Post by: sp3cialk on June 16, 2006, 06:47:00 AM
Nah using the X button is the same thing as pulling down on the right analog... I mentioned this earlier and not sure why they did it but ever since motogp 2 that be all brake all button (X), or pulling down on right analog does truly make you lean more than if you used seperate brakes.... don't know why they did this... but heck I don't know why they took sims out of the game... btw... you can use brakes in a curve... most don't but you can use the rear as a trailing brake to get the back end around a little more... have to be easy on it though or you'll slide that tail out... true most racers don't use much more than the front and gears but hey ... they're professional... I wanna see an extreme track like one of my playgrounds... Dragon's Back (318 curves in 11 miles)

not fond of some of the challenges... like the ones where you have to follow someone and finish only a min behind them... well they race better in the challenge than in the actual race... what gives with that... I spend more time on the challenges than the qualifying and the race... although they do help you master the trickier parts of the track

May I be the first to say that this game is a piece of shit and THQ are retards! So here is the story.. I'm playing splitscreen with my friend for a few. Then I go to play some single player on the full screen. Next thing I know I can't exit the game to dashboard. Then I get a msg stating "Game settings are damaged". I reboot the damn thing, and now my save is gone!!!! From seed 74 to 100! So my question is where can I get some game saves? I need one with a seed of like 75 since I'm not doing all this racing again.

PS- Backup your saves!!! I have a mem card and was too lazy.

well Im up to seed 65 and no problems yet, I havent really customized anything and havent played while signed into live. Though I have still backed up after every 5-6 races. Im really loving the extreme races, I think they will be killer on live for more of the fun arcadey play. GP gets too serious sometimes, people just get so addicted to their racing lines that if someone is in there way the just get super halo 2 pissed and just start whining. We will see.

Anyone want to play online sometime today? Im doin decent on Extreme modes, but just cant seem to get down my GP lines, and its boring as hell to practice alone, so if anyone wants to we can just go run through all the tracks just practicing lines, play some stunt mode, or just see how fast we can hit each other going down the straight at mugello. just let me know, Im getting all my live stuff worked out and should be fine to play tonight.

also one thing I noticed that they took out was the motion blur, or tunnel vision you got when going speeds of 170+ It was probably to hide graphical errors in the day and is unneccessary now but I think it was a really neat feature

Hey guys I just rented the game, and im finding it hard to control. I played for about 2 hours and still wasn't able to really get a good feel for the controls. Any advice. As of right now I have my bike set to max wheelbase, because i kept over correcting with it shorter, both front and rear suspension down to 0 to increase my braking and handling, and tires down soft, I mean I know this isn't an every track setup but i was just trying to get the feel for the game and I couldn't. The braking never felt like I expected, the bike just seemed to push through the turns. Any help would be appreciated. I would really like to get into this game since I ride in real life but the only thing thats keeping me right now are the sweet details, Im just looking for some help adjusting.

Post by: GSX on July 10, 2006, 10:27:00 PM
Leave the setup on default and get used to the bike.  If you ride in real life then you should know some of these tips. Brake early with both triggers(X also works well, since the bike leans more). If you need to slow quick, then use the triggers and X at the same time(I also pull back on the analog stick, so the rider will sit up which will slow you quicker). Once you're half way into the turn get off the front brake, while still using the rear to slide the bike thru the turn( you can't turn if you're on the front brake, same as real life). The whole trick is being on racing line, while applying and releasing brakes at the right moment. I had a big problem playing the previous xbox1 title, but got used to it quick.

Thanks for the advice I changed all the settings to try and slow down my overcorrecting. coming out of each turn I would steer back like in normal racing games but I would always end up doing a few wobbles and going off the track. I really feel that the front brake should be stronger though, you can really get down from high speeds with the right implementation of the front brake, I'll get used to it but right now it just aggravates me.

Doing what GSX helps... I changed how I control the bike from the previous versions... I have the default setup but I use the right analog for gas and brake(with the triggers) ... you have to realize that you are movin alot faster in this game than you think... picking the correct line is something you have to do... and brake into the turn and accelerate out of the apex... since you ride you should understand that.. especially if you've ever been to a track day... qualifying really does help in the game... so just go through a season and you'll get it... gotta remember it's a totally different type of racing game... it's motorcycle racing...

YOu know your totally right. I changed the controls to fit my style more, and I have been whooping ass. It just took me forever to get the hang of it. I mean I was doing the challenges and practicing for a good ten mins before I got the feel for the track. Now that I'm used to my bike and its controls, I just do the challenges and then hit the race up. I'm only up to pro though biggrin.gif I'll get up to champ next season I think. I like the Extreme modes bc of upgrading, but I like my Yami in the GP. I tried my hardest to get it to look somewhat like the anniversary paint jobs biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Gotta love that retro. ( If you can't tell I ride Yamaha's exclusively wink.gif my dad got me started and I'll die a Yami guy)

ok here is how i changed my controles and now it is a way eisier    for me anyway

Left trigger: All in one brake
Right Trigger: Acceleration
A: Front brake
X: Back Brake

if you play pgr3 you should find this alot eisier
