Blue Leds Xbox. v1.0, Seagare 120GB 7200rpm 8MB

up 7-8 MB
down - 9-12 mb

purple Led xbox  v1.1, Retail xbox Seagate 10GB.. 5400RPM

up 300KB
down 450KB

my blue led xbox has a different network port than my Purple Led xbox.. the v1.0 has logo on the network port while the v1.1 looks like a no name brand.. could this be causing  up/down speeds difference?

Hi:

At first... I left this message in another forum but I think this is the right place.

I had a 40 Gb Seagate HardDisk ST340810A but it is quite noisy and then I replaced it with a 60Gb Samsung SV6003H. The problem is that, now, the FTP transfer is running slower than a half (sending and receiving).

Testing in the same moment from the same computer I changed the HD again and all worked fast again.

With SEAGAGE Transfering from PC 10Mbps, Receiving 22Mbps
With SAMSUNG Transfering from PC 2Mbps, Receiving 8Mbps

My Xbox is an 1.0 version with the FTP in Evolution-X (last one) and Xecuter-2 4977. The transfer speed is the shown in FlashFXP.

Ah! the only thing I have now is a really silent XBox! better than nothing!.

Can anybody explain me why this difference? both of them can connect in a PC at Ultra-DMA 66 speed and both of them are 5400rpm.

Does anybody know the maximum speed technology used by XBox? any detail related to the locking of hard drive? I think this is important because it seems to be totally random.

Thanks.

QUOTE (PsyNode @ Jun 29 2003, 04:09 AM)
Replaced the entire chip my motherboard on my xbox is a real mess, i would advise anyone against even attempting to do this mod, i ended up spending 2 months once i got the chip on the board (well on a pcb hooked onto board) to get the thing working to an acceptable level, i've done plenty of other silly mods that really have no overall improvement rather than the wow thats cool factor

can you post some pics?
