Making A V1.0/v1.1 Tsop Writeable
« on: November 02, 2003, 03:46:00 PM »

Can you simply solder the top two points like you can with a v1.2-v1.5? I've always used the one on top near the LPC bus, and the one on the bottom for v1.0/v1.1.

1.0 and 1.1  require the one point on top and bottom.

I had close to the same problem as you.  I TSOP flash many v1.0 and v1.1 Xbox's and its time consuming having to take the motherboards out.

You will either have to solder both the buttom and top sets of write jumpers or...

You can use just the top solder point and wire a wire from W1 to W2 (from the Matrix TSOP tutorials).  You will be soldering to a pin on the TSOP chip.

Sorry for borrowing your thread.

Could anyone please make it clearer by drawing some lines on the pics on how to TSOP soldering your 1.0 Xbox?

Like on the third image at:

http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/tsop-images.php

That one is very obvius, yellow line from A to B.

I'm new to this so I want to be 100% sure before I do any operations :)

the points are the ones with the arrow's pointing to them with a red rectangle around them in the top two pictures.

They're just little silver beads. You just drop enough solder between them to make them bridged. Just use a little drop and touch the tip of the drop between them until you get a little to stick.

The two points circled in red on the third picture down are the two points you solder for a v1.2-v1.5. They also use a 256k bios and the later revisions require the EvolutionX M7 bios.
