I just ran ethernet cable from my computer room to the living room (it took about 70' of ethernet). Now all I need is a ftp program on my computer so I can access my Xbox over the LAN.
Do some programs work better with Xbox than others?
Any recomendations on what to use?

FlashFXP works really well, and looks nice too.
It only cost $25 and has free liftime upgrades.

make sure if you're goin from computer to xbox, you use a crossover cable (or crossover connector), and if you're goin from router/hub/switch to xbox, use a normal ethernet cable.

if u'r worrying about cost and unwilling to pay 25-30 bucks? then try

SmartFtp

it's free for non-commercial use and it's a rather good program with frequent updates and such. Personally i use flashfxp coz it appears to be the fastest among the rest in speed.

Ok,Do this,Try a couple of ftp programs and stick to the fastest one for you.
I used flashXP for a while them i tried WS-FTP and after some testing i found that WS_FTP was heaps faster for me,I get 3 to 4mps with ws_ftp and i only get 1 to 1.5mps with flashXP

FlashFXP worked well, but Windows XP works much faster for me.

There is a tut on this site to map the xbox drive with XP or 2000. It is faster and doesn't require any additional software. Once mapped you just click on the icon and you are connected with full FTP functionality.

Once you follow that tut and map the drive it will appear as an icon under network places.

Anytime you boot the Xbox to Evox dash you can simply double click that icon and be instantly connected.

The folders open and close much faster that with an FTP client and the transfer speeds seem better.

I go with punkasscrab!!

Mounting the dir in Win XP is the easiest way.

If not, i prefer Cute FTP Pro.
