Tsop Question?
« on: October 31, 2003, 04:14:00 PM »

Guys,

Ok I have a Font/PBL 1.3 modded xbox (v1.1) and am ready to flash the TSOP. I figure why not I have flashed every other device/pc I have ever owned so why not the xbox.

Just a few quick questions.

1. Can I TSOP flash from something like slayers auto installer launched thru font hack method? I could do raincoat/007 or something but if I can do it thru slayers2.5 it will be a lot easier.

2.  Can I put my retail bios (captured thru evox/config magic or whatever) back on my TSOP?

3. I have scene codes in evox.ini for various bios chips and bioses, what are those and do I need one to reflash my retail bios? (my retail is k:4817)

Thats all. I am sure this is layed out in multiple faqs, but if someone can just answer these questions I will flash the sucker post haste. Font/PBL is great (my xbox doesn't loop) but I really don't want to do the live thing and why hardware mod when the xbox has a flashable bios on it?

youll need to jumper the points, then you can flash from evox (unless you have winbod...i dont think evox can flash a winbond)

yes, you can restore your retail bios as long as you leave the TSOP write enabled (leave the points soldered)

since you have a 1.3 you may have a winbond chip, in which case youll need raincoat, but you can run the XBE from evox since your box is already softmodded

Hey, how do I tell if I have a Winbond chip in my 1.3?  There's a chip near the solder points with a W logo on it...

How do you run raincoat with command-line options from EvoX?

Thanks,

The answer to my first question (do I have a Winbond?) was answered when I ran raincoat (it tells you what type of chip you have).

The answer to my second question - I put the 007+raincoat files into the proper UDATA folder, replaced raincoat with the latest one from xbox-linux, and used EvoX's FTP's EXECUTE command to execute the default.xbe that comes with the 007+raincoat stuff.  That booted Linux and allowed me to telnet in and run raincoat just like the tutorials here describe.

I have now successfully flashed my 1.3 Xbox with a stock 256k X2 4977.  I'm so excited!
