Aliens Vs. Predator: Gold Edition (1999)

QUOTE(bassquake @ Aug 18 2007, 12:40 AM) *

I'm dumbfounded that no one has ported this yet!!!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
Well he did started working on it, but he left before he could release something,
he did however give us some source code he converted so maybe that could help you out.

I know pretty much next to nothing about coding, but I have managed to compile the code for Windows
after correcting errors (many warnings tho but I ignore them for now) following the bible.
You could always try to find someone online who would like to take a crack at porting this game,
i think if we all kept our eyes and ears open someone should come across someone who'd like to take a crack at it.

Now, for the next step, I really need someone to tell/show me how to convert the DirectDraw5 (correct?)
to Direct3D8. Ive searched around and couldn't find much substantial. I preferably would like some original
code and converted code so I can see what has changed. And if theres a table of conversion or something. (Preferably using the xbox sdk). Ive probably bitten off more than I can chew, but hey ho, its a challenge!
You could PM the guy who ported Zsnes to xbox, his name is nes6502

What Id like if I manage to pull this off!! ...

* Have resolution in widescreen.
Well as long as you don't forget the non widescreen tv owners then it would be cool.[/url]

* Slow down the damn aliens especially if using the joypad! (this one seems easy according to the bible)
This game looked so awesome but was so damn hard with those super fast aliens..
a fix like that would be wonderful.

Any help much appreciated.
I can give some moral support! @_@

ps. I wonder if the good peeps of Xport could have a go?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
Nope not gonna happen, for one there's no "peeps" its just Xport, and he does not care for FPS games.

Im still learning how it all works at the moment. Im having to start from scratch in learning to code in C and direct3d. It aint easy!

Gonna have to be patient and theres no guarantee that Ill even be able to do this project. It may simply require a far more seasoned coder. But Ill try my damndest as its the best frikkin sh*t-yer-pants fps ever! FACT.  biggrin.gif

I have been hoping this game would get ported to the Xbox ever since the source code came out.

Might as well let you all know, I've been working on this for a while now.

I've been changing the rendering code from DirectDraw+D3D over to pure D3D 8 but i've only been doing this on the PC so far as testing on the xbox would drive me insane  laugh.gif

It's a big step towards seeing this game on the XBOX smile.gif

It won't happen soon, but eventually..

I highly doubt blue shogun will be doing this, i remember when this thread was first made back in 2004

9th July 2005 - 08:07 PM < last login time for shogun.

As for the game, im getting pretty handy with C++ but nowhere near a game level so its all up to you i guess sirlemonhead

Pretty much everything I've done so far as been lots of trial and error, so it's taking a LONG time.

Eventually...  tongue.gif
