Been thinking about ya'all a lot.
Hope you're all doing well now that we've braved the "end of the world" and come out whole on the other side.
Things are good here. It seems to take a week or a month to get as much "stuff" done as I was doing on the project in an hour when I was going all out, but at least these things being done now are "meaningful".
I sure do miss the days when I had 3-4 day weekends to mindlessly work on this project, or the year on unemployment when I could work on it full bore..... I'm making about 1/3rd of my unemployment checks (and about 1/7th of my old salary) working overnight at a local department store 2 to 4 nights a week.... no benefits, vacation or insurance. Really, it's barely enough to pay the necessities, but I only have to dip a little into what's left of the nest-egg to keep going until something better comes along.
No mortgage or rent though... just taxes and heat and water/trash and electric and groceries, so I can't really bitch at all.
Thanks to all of you for giving me a reason to stay in at night working on this project all those years, rather than going out and "blowing my wad" back when I was making money. I've hit a severe speed bump in the employment game for now, but I'm the only 33 year old I know who owns their house free and clear. My monthly rent alone back when I was doing the Xtras was nearly 200 bucks more than every single monthly expense I have now.
Here's hoping for a great 2013 and a job that pays more than the bills for all of us
To those of you who love the Xtras........
To those of you who think they're doodie.....
To all my old friends here, here's hoping that you can look past my mistakes and we can be friends once again.
Happy 2013 everyone!
