New Hdd Question
« on: January 26, 2004, 12:58:00 PM »

I am planning on buying a new WD 250 gig hdd.  Should I buy one that includes an ata controller card?   do you need a controller card for it to run properly using x2 4980.67 bios?  also does anyone have a good reliable tutorial that will show how to install it.  thanks in advance

an ata controller is the interface used to connect the ide cable to the motherboard.  for example the xbox has one ata controller, most mobos have 2 ata controllers and in some cases the have four (ata/raid).  so a controller card is just a pci card to add more ata controllers to a pc to allow you to have more devices. simple put ~ you don't need one for an xbox.
