But "Race to the Finish" in Super Smash Bros. is broken again  blink.gif

Was it working with the same plugins and emulator before and now it doesn't?

Might try a different combination of emu & plugins. Though, I think 1964 has a problem with that level - it might just be with certain plugins. PJ64 should render it properly if it is 1964, but it will run slower with multiple AI players. I doubt UltraHLE runs it at all.

Any chance in the next version of having the option to keep the menu running in 480p. I'm using a VGA bios and it is black screening in 720p. I have to either disable 720p in msdash or switch to a virtual eeprom with 720p disabled to play this emu.
Thanks for your work.

A VGA bios patched with Frosty's 0.8 patcher will lack a reset GPU feature so try to rule that out as an issue. I use FrostyTheSnowman and Xman954's X2 5035 VGA BIOS v1.0 and that works great for me. It could also be an issue with your TV, check if it works on a computer monitor.

EmuXtras.net will have a lot of cool stuff

There is only so much the coders can do when no new core source is released in the past few years.  How about you grab yourself a few c/c++ , and other gaming/programming books yourself and give it a crack if you think it is that easy?   blink.gif    rolleyes.gif  muhaha.gif

I never implied that programming is easy. I actually do appreciate all the hard work people put into optimizing these emulators for the original Xbox. Now that you've mentioned it, I've never used a PC version N64 emulator. Are the sources closed?

I don't, and will not, ever have the time to learn C plus at the level required to make a quality... well anything.

The thing is with everyone going yeeaaahhh 720p, 1080p, 10x10^10p rulez! I was simply wondering if any updates to the 'emulation' had taken place. Cosmetic appearance improvements alone wouldn't warrant a download for myself.

There aren't any major break throughs, we haven't added any new video plugins or emulator cores in this release.

But you can compare Banjo Tooie and Zelda OoT in B5.5 and B5.4, and you'll see some differences there. Try the Mupen64Plus RSP plugin with RSP audio on, using 1964, JttL, and Rice 5.60. Try whatever for previous releases. wink.gif

@iamturok It's best not to use Basic Audio unless you really need it for speed, then it's best to back it up with the LLE RSP plugin, or the Mupen64Plus HLE RSP plugin with RSP audio on.

Thanks, very nice.

First of all: This is great and fantastic work of all those involved. It's awesome. smile.gif

My question; is there a possibility to use the old save games from Surreal 5.4? I looked into the save folders and the two versions seem to have different save game files. Surreal 5.4 has .m0, .m1, .mpk and .eep files and Surreal 5.5 has .sra and .eep files? Am I missing something?

I was trying to copy over my old Legend of Zelda saves but I don't have any .eep files from 5.4. Hm...

Some games create an eep save file, some create sra. Zelda should be sra. The mpk, m0 and m1 files are the mempak saves.

I found super smash brothers game play is way better with 1964 than project64. the menus are better in project64 but its all bout gameplay. I set it to:

1964
Rice: 6.1.2
max video mem: 8mb
dynaric memory: 8mb
paging memory: 6mb

should we start a surreal.ini tread?

on another note this emu is great! love the changes biggrin.gif all of them! lookin forward to more skins as all my old ones dont seem to work anymore.

I think Scorp316 made pj64 the default so people could play Race to the Finish. I think it would be a great idea to start an ini thread like Monkeys69 did to organize an overhaul. Settings should really favor playability over accuracy. Its not like we are after low level accuracy anyways. The comments lines should be looked at as well. We could give you (guys) some suggestions if you want to get it going.

In my rom list, I have noticed that there are some boxart's missing in "Cbagys3DArt"

Boxarts missing for:

-Bangaioh
-Neon Genesis Evangelion
-Sin and Punishment - Tsumi To Batsu
-Super Robot Spirits

I also noticed that there are boxarts that seem not complete (picture is not wide enough to fit the box) for:

-Shin Nihon Pro Wrestling 2
-Virtual Pro Wrestling 2

There may be others......but for now this will do wink.gif

BTW....I managed to fix both Starcraft 64 boxart and Mortal Kombat 4 boxart in Cbagy's3DArt.  They weren't showing up due to incorrect CRC code (for MK 4) and missing boxart code (Starcraft 64).

Download here:
Updated Cbagys3DArt

It's 112.5 mbs. I know it's just 2 boxarts....but I am way too tired and lazy (yeah....i said it) to find these particular CRC codes.

I managed to complete my N64 commercial preview project.  I will release that in EmuXtras though.

One more thing......I re-organized the roms in the rom list through the Surreal.ini.  I noticed how "N" titled roms were disorganized.  And I also re-organized all Legend of Zelda and Goldeneye (including Goldeneye X) roms so that they go in chronological order; for example, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.....then comes Majora's Mask.....and finally Master Quest in the rom list.

But......I will release this Surreal.ini tommorow  wink.gif

The MK4 and StarCraft64 boxes were fixed in the BoxCart and SD set.
The actual standard "BoxArt" did have the StarCraft box missing and the MK4 had a comma in its title thats all, this was fixed in the other sets i must of overlooked this particular one. My bad.
The wrestling images havent actually changed and the aforementioned 4 Jap titles arent even in this pack posted by Scrop316.
So save yourself time and bandwidth and grab these (right click save as)

Also check your directory and delete 4F1E88F7-E43B9765 and 4F1E88F7-E43C9765
and replace with this, no need for 2 boxes when one will do.

Those 4 Jap boxes that were missing

Thanks Cbagy smile.gif wink.gif

Yeah....I didn't have those 4 missing Japs boxarts included in my upload above :/

BTW....there has been nothing but pure silence in x-s lately....hehe  laugh.gif  biggrin.gif

@YoZee.... Yeah I have noticed that the SD default skin is a bit off the screen at the bottom.  I haven't really touched that issue yet.  You can adjust it through the Skin.ini in the Default skin folder.....Not sure what particular setting well do the trick though :/   dry.gif

Hmmmm, people have had over 3 months to report missing boxes, on the official release website there is even a topic taking requests, last i looked no requests at all, so who's fault is that ?
The 2 wrestling covers are taken from Japanese covers which were vertical in origin, so therefore they don't fit a horizontal box and we had to make do.
You seem to be the only one who doesn't get StarCraft and MK4 boxes showing, perhaps your roms need checking and may be at fault, just a thought. Be aware, each box and video has at least 4 crc's so perhaps you have quirky romS ?
The ini was painstakingly (over 5 hrs) re-arranged by myself, by hand, with all the non games removed etc and re-ordered alphabetically, in some cases whole blocks were shifted together so in some cases there may indeed be a few slightly out of order, you only seem to have found a few in the "N" section. My BAD !
Of course you could have used the old ini if you wanted and made some actual relevant changes.

PS.
Errr well done on your 2 boxes and 3 or 4 changes in the ini.

hehe....don't beat your self up  tongue.gif

I actually did rename...."Goldeneye" to "007 - Goldeneye"......"The World is Not Enough" to "007 - The World is Not Enough".......and "Goldeneye: X" to "007 Goldeneye X".....so they can be in together and in chronological order

I did something similar to Zelda as well
