Flashing Tsop With Xecuter 1.0 And Evox
« on: October 15, 2003, 09:04:00 PM »

I've been trying to flash my tsop on my version 1.0 xbox using evox to no avail....

I've soldered the jumpers (top and bottom) I'm no stranger to soldering so I'm 99% sure they're good...

I have evox installed so what I was thinking is load up evox and get it ready to flash then switch off the modchip and flash and it should flash the tsop right?

well everytime I try I get a not writeable error... I've resoldered the jumpers about 5 times now

I'm pretty sure they're good because I decided to try the audio exploit and pheonix bios loader and it fraged while loading pheonix and now my xbox wont boot with the modchip off (that should mean that my jumpers are good right?)

in any case I really dont know what to do... any help would be appreciated :(

poxy arse chips them xecuter 1.0's - had a xbox go tits up - the mod just died about a fortnight ago

really freaky but that is what I reckon.....

anyway if the mod is still working (unlike the moody one I had) you are in luck !!!!!

if the xbox still manages to boot with mod enabled and can ftp back into the xbox even better.....

replace the old dashboard or if you don't need anything no more on the hard drive or pull off any saves etc....

OH TELL YA WHAT  I just list the options:

HOTSWAP THE H/D - presume it is still locked then you can restore the dash in another xbox and replace back into old ver 1.0

use another h/d as a temp measure - put h/d in another xbox - prepare it - still leave unlocked though - place in ver 1.0 with mod enabled and lock drive - then it should boot with mod disabled - enable mod again & back up drive to pc - probably just the C folder will do - swap drives and replace C folder with the backed up one

to be honest what I would do is this:

get slayer 2.1

enable mod & re-do the retail drive option - then turn mod off and all should work again

OR

if mod is shagged like mine was - then you will have to hotswap the h/d into another modded xbox - once it has been swapped then slayer the ver 1.0 h/d and put the drive back in ver 1.0 - note on the other modded xbox you will have to boot to slayer's evox disc and then swap drives & format old ver 1.0 drive

OK - now once the h/d is all put back and booting fine without mod then you can use the 007 auf evox installer to flash the 1mb ST or Hynix tsop or if a sharp then I think you will need to use raincoat 0.5 or 501 instead - or the eurasia disc but I prefer the first 2 for tsop flashing

sod the exploits to get the tsop flashed - sounds like going the long way round to flash tsop and there is a very good risk that peeps will use the same xploit bios which will kill a mod or tsop

NEVER FLASH A TSOP WITH A BFM BIOS AS IS USED IN THE XPLOITS

GRAB A GOOD 1MB NORMAL BIOS - if you got slayer 2.1 then use the 1mb 4976.02 or D6ef that is on the evox install disc to get ya tsop flashed, then using the 1mb bios and the 007 auf save/raincoat ya all fixed.....

I reckon the non-writable error was you trying to flash the xecuter 1.0's tsop chip which you simply can't do
these xecuter 1.0's are best left in place and tsop flashed unless you are very good at removing them from being welded to the xbox mobo

the above methods do work - my m8 now has a nice bios that has the media check on it for starters and now appears to have a Xecuter 2 mod in there - yes I did tell him about tsop means no live - sod fitting a switched tsop bank option

the h/d MUST be locked to do the tsop with 007 though as it will be booting from the old 4034 bios & not any lpc mod

there are a number of other things you could do if you haven't got a mem card to get the save onto the drive - like:

boot v1.0 with mod - unlock drive - put into other xbox - ftp the save over from pc, put drive back into ver 1.0 - lock drive etc.....

easiest thing is to just slayer the drive in the ver 1.0 with mod on and then it should all work fine with mod disabled so you can flash tsop with 007

obviously if you haven't got another xbox to hand already modded then slayer the drive will be best option

oh heck this is becoming an epic novel - you get the idea I'm sure....

anyway best of luck - hopefully you won't have to go down the hotswap route like I did

well the modchip sitll works... so I can boot just fine when the chip is turned on...  I want to upgrade to a 160gig hard drive which is why I'm trying to flash the TSOP (to enable LBA48) I've been using a 80gig for a while and I put the original 8 in there for the TSOP flash...

I should be able to boot up with the modchip on then just switch it off before flashing and have it flash the TSOP right?

because right now when booting with the chip off I get a black screen tries to power up 3 times then the LED just flashes (not sure what it flashes because I moded the LEDs)

any idea where I can get the slayer install I can't seem to find it at xbins... what dir is it in?
