Doable Emulators
« Reply #15 on: February 04, 2020, 07:24:00 AM »

I gave it up from the PSX emulation ages ago. A modded PSX/PS-One is a so cheap console and the games are so easily downloaded nowadays that I did prefer to burn the ones I really play on CDR and use the original console to have my little hours of SONY amusement.

In my opinion, N64 is the most important emulator that should be polished to its maximum. Buying Nintendo 64 cartridges to play on a real Nintendo 64 (with its horrible analog joystick) is really something "not feasible".

But it's handy to have both N64 AND PSX games on the Xbox.

I'd like to help with the programming and bug fixing, but it's so damn hard to get into this stuff. We should open an emulator programming 101 seminar or something. xD

I like having only one system though, so it would be nice for better PSX support too.  I do see your point though.  Most PSX games work pretty well if you get a good image and set it up right though, and I hear if you update the mobo/memory that even more will work.

Good luck getting a programming 101 seminar started there man.  I got a bit into it and was able to manipulate quite a bit in MAME, but never even figured out how to compile XPORT.  It took me about a month to finally set up my 1.1 XBOX as a debug box and that was with help from a few people who may or may not even be around anymore.  I actually gave that box away to one of my brothers so I can't even code anymore.  I was pretty ineffectual at it anyways.

Not trying to be discouraging here, just pointing out how difficult it is to even set up a box, let alone know what to do if you don't really have any programming skills to speak of.  It just makes the work that has been done on these emulators even more impressive when you see how difficult it is for a novice to get set up.

We'd all like to see better PSX emulation (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)    Who knows....?  Somebody may do it.  Never thought I'd see any Nintendo 64 updates while I was here but everyonce in a while somebody would do something with it (like finally supporting 4 controllers).  FreakDave has done a hell of a lot with it recently too, and Monkey worked with a few people here to make a great pre-configuration file for all the working games.

I'm not familiar with Virtual Game Station.  Would it require running Windows 98 to run then?  If it does it's impossible since nobody ever got any version of Windows working on the XBox in any useful way.

Yes, requires Windows to run, I remember that this emulator works fine, but I keep updated because sony bought it, to no longer be updated more. If you're like me says that Windows works on the Xbox, then you may not work well, after losing a lawsuit from the makers discover  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

also my favorite game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night works quite well in PCSXBOX, but others less so. like Crash Bandicoot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Best regards.
