If only someone would give PCSXbox the same kind of love, that emulator is running far below what the Xbox is capable of.

Very impressive work, I'm amazed that you were able to get N64 games running well in 720p. Glad to see the scene isn't dead  wink.gif

Agreed! Though as a fan of the N64 rather than the PS1, I really hope that the Surreal team keep working on N64 emulation rather than the PS1!

Would it be possible to get emulation for most 3D games up to full speed in PCSXbox? I remember playing Medal of Honor (and not really much more) on an old 466 mhz eMachine PC with 4MB of vram on an ATI card and... 128 to 256 MB of RAM. Theoretically N64 emulation takes a more powerful PC... or so I recall (other than UHLE). So, if it's possible to have some of what we have running as it's running, does that mean...?
Granted, I was also using ePSXe...

Anyway...
It's really exciting, waiting for the next release of Surreal, and knowing that on a standard X-Box you can play games in 720p HD. I'm really curious how much of the source they waded through, because some of the source seems laggy on even the PC.
An estimated date would really kick ass, or at least a teaser with the new features. Again, the project feed likes to have a character limit, and I never know exactly what you've done, and like the one thing, that I can't recall at the moment, we have to come here and ask, which I am sure takes more of your time.

Anyway, thank you again. I hope, that someday, I can be kinda like you all, making something I want, that other people want, that most people can't.  biggrin.gif

My guess would be as soon as the current issues and what not are worked out. How long that takes depends on the difficulty of the issue and the amount of free time available to put towards it. There's no way to pin that down :/

The cores of the emulators really haven't been touched too much. About the only people that could go through them and speed them up significantly are their original authors. PJ64 and UltraHLE are getting no love from theirs atm, but we do have and are still working on the new source for 1964. Most of the performance gains and mem saving things are from using new plugins and removing unused stuff to trim the size. Many of the features from Surreal 1.0 plus new ones will be in there as well as many bug fixes.

PSX is a whole 'nother ball of wax. About the only similarity is that it's an emulator that also works on the xbox.

BTW: Does anyone know where to get the Rice 5.1.0 win32 source? It's missing from my collection smile.gif

Thanks for the answer, Ez0n3, and I'm sorry I can't help with the Rice source, but I'm not a programmer. Can you not e-mail Rice and ask him for the source code? Or contact Kreationz, in this thread:

http://www.emutalk.n...or-two-versions
Another thing I was wondering was will Surreal support video files on the main menu, showing you the game that is currently highlighted? That would be a nice feature, though it's a million times less important than making sure the games work properly, of course.

It sure will, here's a link to a video freakdave posted a few pages back:

I tried to search for the rice 5.1.0. source as well, couldn't find it. Rice doesn't mind giving it out if you email him though (See 2nd post here: http://www.emutalk.n...aedalus-5.1.0d).

Wow! that looks brilliant! Where can I download the necessary videos from? I imagine I can ask that here, as video files aren't against the TOS of the site?

Seeing as that version of the emulator hasn't been released, neither has the skin (or a video pack).

I'm sure it'll be great when it does come out though  tongue.gif

That's great! What's Goldeneye: X actually like? Does it play on Surreal? I don't use PC emulators so I've not had a chance to try it yet, but it does sound brilliant.

For anyone who doesn't know, Goldeneye: X is a mod for the N64 game Goldeneye (duh!) currently in progress, and, in the words of thr authors:

GoldenEye: X is an enhanced version of the original GoldenEye 007 game for the Nintendo 64. It uses the Perfect Dark engine, which allows for new and exciting things not possible before. Here's just a few of these welcome features...

Voice-Overs:
If you're one of those people who don't like to read captions in games, than you'll be happy to know that voices are now supported. Instead of reading the conversations Bond has with other characters, you'll get to hear them. Doesn't that sound good?

Weather:
Not only can the sun or moon appear in the sky, it's also possible to trigger either rain or snow effects. This adds a whole new dimension to maps like the Surface.

Interactive Lighting:
Wasn't it a nice diversion running around the Bunker, shooting out all of the light fixtures? In GE:X, the lights can actually go out. This might make you think twice before entering the darkness.

Clipping & AI Sighting:
Your enemies now have the ability to see through and over railings, allowing them to send a wave of bullets your way. You know how great hiding behind railings was in a level like Caverns? You won't be so lucky this time around.

Cooperative & Counter-Operative Missions:
If playing through the missions wasn't fun enough, now you'll be able to have a friend join in. Whether they are there to assist you, or are there to stop you from reaching your goals, is entirely your decision.

Virtual Reality (Multiplayer):
Remember how amazing the multiplayer was in GoldenEye? Well, picture that same incredible gaming experience, but throw in up to eight computer controlled opponents. Better customization over the match options, great scenarios (including King of the Hill and Capture the Flag), your choice of head and body, music preferences, and more. About the only thing you can't do, is prevent your buddies from choosing Oddjob.

Where can you download GoldenEye: X? You can find the most recent public patches at the GoldenEye Vault website. If you aren't familiar with it already, here is the link...

Much better boxart with the perfect dark background.

It's pretty fun, but some known issues:
-This game is a memory hog! Use 480p without AA
-Only for PJ64, 1964 will crash when loading multiplayer
-There is one major slowdown ingame, but the emu should level out
-Long pauses between gameplay and main menu

Using PJ64, Rice 5.60, JttL, HLE RSP.

Nothing has been fixed for the clock in Majora's Mask. MM always ate alot of ram, I'm not sure if you can use 720p with it on. I don't have a 64mb box to test it with, atm.

Ocarina of time works great in 720p and the fog fix makes 5.60 alot better, still cant use the lens of truth with it though.

Other than that you can use an RSP plugin to fix the static backgrounds.

Oh and we've moved: surreal64ce.wikidot.com
