hi all, I'm quite clueless when it comes to MAME emulation, but eager to get set-up properly.

i'm using a regular 64mb xbox with XBMC installed.

so far I have mamedox platinum 2 upgraded to arcade and all games tested work fine. can i add other games to these or is the package set up to only use the included rom?

after searching around i've also installed MAMEOX 72.1b for these roms:
2on2 open ice
mortal kombat3
ultimate mortal kombat3
rampage world tour
primal rage.
NBA Hangtime
WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game

and MAMEX b6 for these:
mortal kombat
nba jam
nba jam te
narc

these games work at good speeds, MK series has some minor sound issues, but nothing serious. i would ideally like to run all games from the same place for convenience, is there any way to get these games to run with the rest using mamedox arcade?

i have downloaded FBA-xxx pro & non-pro versions. will the list of roms above run using one of these emulators, so i can delete MAMEX b6 and MAMEOX 72.1b?
inside the FBA roms folder are several individual folders named CPS1, CPS2, NG(neogeo) and others. does it matter which folder i put roms in? so far it hasn't recognised any roms that i've added...
also, i haven't played around with romsets or .dat files, i don't dare!
any help would be appreciated

thanks, rasputin

first of all mamex-b6 and mameox0.72 play those games best on xbox, mamedox is a newer version of mame for xbox and the only to play for instance the mk games at full speed is to with sound turned off.
if you play the games with sound turned on in mamedox platinum then it is really stuttery and slow.
there was a pack released with mk1,mk2 and mk3 ripped from the midway arcade treasures discs and plays these 3 games pefectly with sound.
fbaxxx pro is an emulator which emulates cps1,cps2,neogeo and some other arcade games and the newest version is called final burn legends.
look for coinops reignite rX this is the newest version of mamedox platinum and has a lot more games playable.
check your pm.

thanks for the PM, great help!

i'll be FTPing it over shortly. so CoinOPS reignite X is a multi-emulator? i see files/bios related to SNES, megadrive, GBA etc.

is this a direct update to platinum & arcade, meaning i can copy it straight onto the platinum folder and it will overwrite the relevant stuff? if not, can i copy screenshots and CFGs from platinum to the Coinops folder and retain the pics while scrolling through roms?

i also noticed files relating to final burn. does this mean final burn legends can be added to the coinops folder.

ok last question! (for now :-)) i've seen a 'Final Burn Legends 1.3 + fullromset' download floating around that is enormous. possibly over 6gig, also i have seen a rom collection for CoinOPS weighing in at a similar size. will each rom collection be prepared in any way to run with the specific emulator, or can we just download one and add any roms to any emulator (providing it's supported)?

thanks for your help xyteam

I would keep CoinOPS in the folder it comes in and transfer what you want over to it. As far as the Multi Emulator thing - It is more like a multi-launcher. It has various Xport emulators on top of the MAME stuff that get launched if you click a game relating to it... so you click "Super Mario World" and it will launch the SNES emulator to play it, but its all intergrated. CoinOPS is almost a emulator Dashboard... just needs FTP and it will be there lol

Final Burn Legends uses a newer ROM set than CoinOPS so Roms that work for CoinOPS wont necessarily work for FBL and vise versa, and it in itself a different entity than the Final Burns within CoinOPS so I would leave that in its own folder as well.

do not copy reignite rx over platinum, just delete the files in the platinum folder EXCEPT roms and screenshots, then just transfer the roms and screenshots  from platinum over to the coinops reignite folder.
for the console stuff basically the roms have to be named a certain way to show up on the game selection screen.

basically the final burn legends romset is all you need for final burn legends and with the mame one you can add more if you wish.

good stuff. got reignite up and running no probs. just waiting to get my hands on the final burn legends rom set. i'd guess that some of the roms will be updated versions of ones already running on reignite, also the other romset for reignite will probably mainly consist of roms already aquired with the platinum rom. i'll need to spend some time going through them... time for the hard drive upgrade!

nice to have the emulators up to date and in one place, but won't be renaming all my snes & megadrive roms in a hurry.

thanks for the help ppl!
