No mate, thats the way it is.
As things stand we can't reconfigure the current skins as they have hard coded values.
I could have made them the same size, or there abouts, as the originals,
however, could you read the originals ? lol.
I struggled on my 37" HDTV and i have good eyes.
I figured thats as small as i could get them using the, 480 resoloution, skin supplied.
Ive heard a whisper that some of the GUI will change allowing more freedom.
This won't happen overnight but it will allow skinners to have a go at Surreal and make use of even better 3d boxart i have, video previews may even see the light of day, maybe even HD resoloutions will be added to the GUI, who knows, heres hoping.

Anywho, they are only really a tester for my own benefit as i like to experiment \ tinker with stuff.
They aren't endorsed, in any way, by FreakDave.
I did say in my earlier post that they should be considered a prototype really.

Keep this to yourself but in all honesty they are may way of trying to encourage change. Shhh, mums the word, ok !

Black skin touched up a bit to make cbagy's 3D Art look proper. It is not perfect so if someone wants to spend the time centering everything by all means do so. smile.gif

P.S. working to get a fix that uses the xxxB5 rom paging method for 128mb users. Its more than what I thought it would be at first so you'll have to wait on my noob coding skills. Freakdave has more important things to work on. wink.gif

This is still my only emulator out of around 50 that boots up with some sort of problem....

Playstation 1 on the xbox?
9 out of 10 games dont work for me out of the box they need tweaking of some sort

Just like the nintendo ds port on the wii its emulation but it will be a while before its perfect... if ever
Im just very grateful for the people that work on these projects for hours on end just to make them a little better

@kitten42

Dont use any dash to delete the game save files, i use xbmc gamesave menu to browse the game saves as it gives me the folder names for eg. "ead00fetc" or whatever.
Browse to find the Surreal folders in TDATA and UDATA and delete them by hand yourself either with a file manager, FTP or xbmc etc. Then delete your cache files on X,Y and Z. Power off the xbox completely and try again. Also don't edit the xbe in any way either. See how that works out for you.

If you asked me one thing not to expect it would be updates on surreal..

I really cant believe this actually, massive massive props to freakdave.

I spent the weekend playing Mariokart and Goldeneye and you couldnt ask for the controls to be any better now.

This isn't an issue of games not loading. I have my fair share of games that don't load or need settings tweaked etc. This is an issue of the emulator booting up into a completely uninterpretable screen, which I've never had an issue with, with any other emulator.

Gave it a shot...still boots up scrambled man =/

Found the TDATA and UDATA folders, deleted them completely, deleted the ini folder from the surreal folder, cleared the caches, powered down, powered up, scrambled screen. I'm lost.

I appreciate the helps guys, just nothings working =(

And as said before if I boot a game and back out to the menu, everything clears up....

Anyone that has the hack Super Mario 64 - The Missing Stars for Surreal on Xbox
here's the boxart for your emulator Media\boxart folder

IPB Image

right click and save as 21FEAE88-A4101424.png
then on your PC rename to 21FEAE88-A4101424.jpg
Don't forget to change the extension to .jpg as this current version of Surreal doesn't recognise .png's yet.

I could only find this tatty little image to put on a 3d template so its not the best.
I would appreciate it if anyone has a good, large image i could work from.
Not the dual pack images though, they are ten a penny.

IPB Image

Rick click save as 1D4136F3-AF63EEA9.png then change extension to .jpg as before.
Place in Surreal Media\boxfront folder.

You are right cbagy, that was not my intention, i must appologize to you and freakdave as well. But Thanks for the boxart smile.gif

On topic~  I've been playing with surreal alot more now theres some updates on it, Perhaps in a future release could it be possible to have something to show a difference when there is a save state in a slot?  If even just text that says the date it was done and/or a screenshot of when the save state was, i've overwrote my savestate a few times now cause ill forget they're there cause its just blank sad.gif

smile.gif Looks good..... dry.gif though I would prefer if these box arts were to be represented like the actual N64 box arts.       They look a lot like PS2-type boxes and not orignal N64 boxes.

Note: For even greater compatibility you might want to experiment with the Rice ini files, ultra.ini, 1964.ini, Project64.rdb, take a look into to the Docs folder to find out more!

So I did what freakdave recommended and I experimented with the Project64.rdb (in the surreal directory) entry for my "Donkey Kong 64 (U) [!].rom".

I changed the "Counter Factor" value to 3 and achieved a very notable performance improvement.

These are my other settings for my working Donkey Kong 64 emulation:

SURREAL64 XXX CE B5.31

VIDEO SETTINGS
Flicker Filter: 1
Soft Display Filter: Disabled
Texture Filter: Linear (can be changed to anisotropic perhaps)
Vertex: Mixed Vertex (seems to be important)
Skip Frames: No

EMULATOR SETTINS
Emulator: Project64
Video Plugin: Rice 5.3.1
Audio Plugin: LLE RSP
Max Video Memory: 4 Mbytes

Dynarec Memory: 10 Mbytes
Paging Memory: 10 Mbytes

Perhaps someone can verify the "Counter Factor" change to 3 and its performance improvement?

Maybe someone else can get even more speed upgrades through Project64.rdb tweaking and experimentation? Anyone up to it? biggrin.gif
