How Do I Set Up Game Previews In Emulators?

I tried the xtras with ZsnesBox. You have to edit the path.ini (in the Emu folder) to:

CODE
usePathINI=1
D:\bookmarks\
F:\Media\SNES\Artwork\Box Front\
F:\Media\SNES\Artwork\Titles\
F:\Media\SNES\Artwork\Action\
F:\Media\SNES\Artwork\Cart\
D:\artwork\Shots 5\
D:\artwork\Shots 6\
D:\artwork\Shots 7\
D:\artwork\Shots 8\
D:\sram\
D:\save\
D:\ini\
D:\rumble\
D:\cheats\
D:\garbage\
F:\Media\SNES\Roms\
F:\Media\SNES\Movies\

Don't forget the "\" at the end of the lines  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I noticed that some Box Art won't show in ZsnesBox.

From the ZsnesBox FAQ's:

QUOTE
Q: My previews don't show up
A: ZsnexBox only supports screenshots 512x512 or smaller.

So anything larger than this won't show  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Nothing in my sets should be that large.... are they?

The rule was no taller or wider than 318 since anything larger didn't provide better pictures even in HD (from what I've been told, since I don't have a HD hookup yet :(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

1) Are you using my sets?

2) Can you give me some examples, if you are?

Yes... the "\" did trick me there for a while Bigby.  I forgot about that when you were asking me.

Also, the directories changed above (in bold) will only work if you made your Root \Media\ directory "F:\Media\"

If you put them somewhere else, you will have to alter these accordingly.

It probably goes without saying, but thought I might be able to squash some frustration early  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

EDIT:  Well....... I tried to bold them above, but looks like you can't bold CODE.....  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

Anyways, it was the first 4 artwork directories I was talking about.

You can also change the order around if you'd like and have it only look for art you want, if you don't want all 4 to display.   You can also add the "3D Boxart" that cbagy and bigby made, any of the "Misc" folders which show things like alternate carts and boxart, or even View the "HyperSpin 3D Boxart", although it's not recommended at this point with the Xtras because, for instance, the HS stuff only covers about 790 of the over 1,700 games that are covered completely in the 2D stuff and the 3D stuff we made here.

These are the torrents i've downloaded from underground gamer:

Genesis ResX Part I: Roms
Genesis ResX Part II: Artwork

SNES ResX Part I: Roms
SNES ResX Part II: Artwork

NES ResX Part I: Roms
NES ResX Part II: Artwork

Approximately 150 Roms per System and only their frontbox-art. Then I created on my xbox the following folders:

E:\media\"Console"\ Artwork\Boxfronts etc.

In the emulators, I redirected to the "Console" folder as "Media Folder" for each respective system.

SNES displays some of the front covers in the game selection menu, Genesis and NES show nothing

Just a note.. It's not a good idea to post torrent names that include ROMz in them... Against the rules..

Fortunately for him, those aren't the exact names of any existing torrents.  Anyone who didn't know that might assume otherwise though.

Here's hoping he just gets a slap on the wrist for the infraction (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Only thing I can tell that you might be doing wrong is the name for your "Box Front" folder.  Looks like you've got it as Boxfront (one word).  They won't work with the wrong folder name, unless you manually configure each and every folder individually instead of letting the emu auto-config for you after selecting the media directory.

As for selecting the media folder, you did right.

F:\Media\SYSTEM is what you want to choose for this option.

On ZSNESXBox, right?

Yeah.... I'm going to have to make special instructions for that one.  It seems that the SNES set is the one artwork set that I neglected to convert to no-greater-than-318px-tall-or-wide.  Some of them are as much as 675px.  Of course, I do it with one of the only sets that has a second emulator to worry about.

While these large images work fine in the emu that I was doing the testing in (SNES9XBox), it seems to break ZSNESXBox.  Somebody in another thread pointed out the maximum size for images, but I can't recall now... It's something like 575 to 595px max before it will just show a blank spot.

The image converter I use isn't free, but I'm sure there are plenty of image converters out there that can resize images in a batch process rather than one at a time without damaging the quality of the original.

Does anybody have a good, free image converter that I can start post with instructions associated with the SNES?

Thanks,
~Rx

EDIT:   Forgot to add that the image converter should also be VERY easy to use so we don't have to make a big ordeal out of making the instructions how to use it.

Thanks waal...

So these will batch convert the images to no larger than 318px when you get that set up?
