Do you know what is the exact value i need to search for?

Search for \SAVES\ and the change where it says XBOYADVANCE to something else.

Ok sorry about this post as it is completely off topic and actually the exact opposite of what you are talking about.

Has anyone compiled more than one emulator together? A good example would be of FBL where it also runs genisis.

But has anyone who is not an emulator author tried to compile more than one emulator together. For instance snes and nes together. So that you could run your snes and nes games from the one emulator without having to change. I have no idea if this is possible, but I would definately be interested in that.

For example i would like to run all of my lightgun games through a single emulator. I now have two seperate emulators for nes and snes that i mainly have configured just to run lightgun games. If it were possible to somehow combine the two then i would be most interested.

Thanx to anyone who can shed some light

Yes someone who definitely isn't an emulator author has done this. His name's BritneysPAIRS or at least it was, he seems to change it pretty regularly and he left these forums a while ago. The program he put together is called CoinOPS (again the name seems to change often so I'm not 100% it's still this). It started as a fairly decent update to MAMEoX but he's since merged it with a couple of XPort's old emulators so it now plays both arcade and console games.

The drawback is that the interface is a bit of a mess and the emulators in CoinOPS are older versions than the awesome madmab releases that are being released at the moment. But if your priority is just having all your games thrown together in one place then it may be just what you're looking for.

Coinops actually load the other emulators and tells them to run whatever ROM you selected.  Thus there is a slight delay while the emulator loads and depending on your setup this can be up to 15-20 seconds.  For example on my system the emu's take about 15 seconds while it "initializes" the network.

Plus coinops forces you to use specific ROMs with specific names as well as has no support for samba/relax.

As far as combining emulators so they are actually loaded in memory at the same time.  Aint gonna happen the Xbox simply doesn't have enough memory.  In fact it barely has memory for a handful of the x-port emu's.

Just a side effect of being ported from a PC where the author has more memory available to allocate.

I thought it was a less than 15-20 second to load? It doesn't take more than a few seconds on my setup.

Oh and it comes with no DATs, which is pretty unhelpful for an emulator that is so specific about which ROMs/names you have to use. I think BP has listed the supported games in bits and pieces in various readme files but you'll need some good luck to understand anything written by that guy.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Rx released some DATs for CoinOps & FBL that work well as long as you have the .84 romset. Saves a lot of space too.

Depends on each system.  For example if I disconnect my network cable it loads ALOT faster.

Does CoinOps have lightgun support??

I am not really looking for a universal emulator to run all games (even though that would be interesting).

More just being able to combine my nes and snes games, specifically the games which use a lightgun.

I am surprised that an author has not taken on a project like this, especially those who are fans of the lightgun games and would like to see them all located in a single place.

Damn the xbox's memory! If only it were possible to throw more than 128mb into it haha.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Why did you make 3 different folders for these emulators?   The gba emulator runs all 3.  All this does is take more memory space out of your Xbox system.

I see your point about putting these emulators into 3 different folders as I don't want to mix up my gba games with gbc and gb games.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Has anyone found a way to play multiplayer (System Link) on the XboyAdvanced emulator yet?  I tried the Dual Gameboys option, yet it keeps bringing me back to the romlist.   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) I know it works for both GB and GBC games.

At first, I thought having a multiplayer system link that works for GBA games was already implemented, but I now know that I was wrong.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) I don't even know if GBA ever had a system link as I never had owned one.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Great games though, especially that Yoshi game where you have to tilt Yoshi to climb walls and get to different places.

Yeah, GBA had a system link for quite a few games.  You could play 4 player Mario Kart and there was the classic Mario Bros. game that was built into every one of the Super Mario Advance series, which was quite fun actually.  It's a shame that the system link feature in XboyAdvance doesn't work for GBA games.  That would be a great improvement if it were possible to implement.   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

It's very possible to implement but that doesn't mean it would be playable. The Xbox isn't even powerful enough to emulate one GBA at full speed let alone two.

I meant implement it through multiple xboxes using system link.  I realize that GBA emulation on the xbox is pushed to the limits.  Anyway, I heard that it was not possible to do though because of how the GBAs transfer data from one system to the other.

I tested the HEX approach and also Madmab's suggestion for directory changing, and I found that only HEX editing will work. I believe, however, that changing the directory would be the appropriate method if you intend to use your emulator for everything under one roof (NeoGenesis for Genesis, SegaCD, & 32x vs. being split out separately). See my post here for details: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=711957.

Madmab: love your stuff! If you're looking for additional features to your XPORT enhancements, the ability to change the default "emulator configuration" directory from the traditional "E:\SAVES\<EMU_NAME>\*.*" would be nice to see.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Cheers!
