Nice to know you have time to relax and play with stuff for a change.
If i remember rightly you're a SD user, that skin is going through a few changes as we speak.
I have done the HD version yesterday, pics posted here, the SD version gets the same love sometime today.
It peforms even better than the last draft, a few more MB spared on resources.
Check out the new version soon.
I didnt use HyperSpin 3d boxes, i used some i made, so the dimensions will be different.
Your output preview may not be in the correct aspect ratio with those particular boxes.
If you give me the dimensions of the Hyperspin 3d boxes i will give you exact numbers to input to the skin.

Yeah.  I can take a look and let you know.

Have you seen the HyperSpin 3D boxart cbagy?  Not trying to take away from your 3D stuff at all since it's much more likely we'll see a full set with your template than we ever would with HS.  They're really great though since they have the side of the box and even have artwork and text on the sides.

I'd really like to get some people on our end and their end collaborating after the Xtras are released.  There are some really talented artists over there who have actually taken the time to make these very intricate 3D boxes for thousands of titles already and with my full sets they may be able to match our 2D artwork with 3D stuff someday.

The nice thing is, when people make 3D boxes of the stuff Gilles made generic boxart for to match the template of the system, there will be tons of games we can cover by only altering a few dozen.   If I had to guess, making 3D artwork out of about 50 generic boxarts would easily convert another 1,000 games to 3D boxart when copied and renamed correctly.

I have indeed, taken a brief look at HyperSpin 3d stuff.
Very good it is. It would be brilliant if they had "full" sets.
The template i made was only a starter produced on the spot, so to speak.
Its not set in stone, im sure more can be done with this idea.
I did have a brief chat with some of the chaps as to how to handle this
and the problem was "proper spines" for these boxes.
It was suggested to make "Generic" spines for the missing ones, which at a guess
means most of them. Im not convinced "Generic" spines is the way to go. Too disjointed for me.
If were gonna make sets they have to be good from the start, all built in the same vein.
Users will reply with "record a script in PhotoShop" well thats well and good for simple stuff like
resizing and bits n bobs. Unfortunately not a artwork was produced by the same people with
the same quality and the same contrast/colour saturations etc.
Some would require more attention where as others wouldn't need any work.
So as a final product they would need checking out individually really.
Any filters in a script, across a whole collection would produce variable results at best.

Like I said, I think there are some guys at HS that would have the drive and desire to do this if they had the 2D artwork to work with.  I also think that selling the idea with the Generic Boxart will make it even easier.

It won't happen overnight.  But I think it would happen.

There's a hack that puts Mario sprites into a Sonic game isn't there? That's about as close to Super Mario on the Mega Drive as you'll get I think.

That's the one I was thinking of, not a Sonic game, a Squirrel game. Never seen the title screen, they actually called it Super Mario World. Now that is cheeky.

Just adding last few configs then this skin is compatible with "All" Xport/Madmab emulators.
Im not bothering with config's for 2d artwork for a few reasons.

1. Its old hat and looks it.
2. The 3d boxes look far superior.
3. Using 3d Boxes negates the need for sprite frames onscreen thus saving precious memory.

Yes, before anyone ask's, all system's now have 3d artwork.

Check back soon.
