Reflash Not Working
« on: October 04, 2003, 04:00:00 PM »

My xbox was modded useing the 007 trick.  The bios I now have is X2 4976.02.  My dashboard is Evox 3921.  I'm trying to upgrade to X2 4977.  I checked around, did everything the tutorial said to do, and when I went to flash it, evox told me"

Manufacturers ID 09 Device ID 00
!! Flash Not Writeable !!

if the points were soldered enough to flash it once, it should still be good enough to flash it now.  Am I overlooking something?

have you checked the evox.ini to see if it has the properties to flash your chip? somethings are diferent in  the ini for the new evox, also check to see if any of the flash properties have # in front of them. if so, delete them

ALSO.....

did you mod it / flash the tsop ?

if someone else did it they could of write protected the tsop - and if they did I can't blame them as it would help prevent someone else reflashing it and saying after they hosed it:

"it just stopped working"

to be absolute honest why are you bothered about going from 4976.02 to 4977

does the eject fix really matter to you ??

that is the main difference between the 2 bios and I actually prefer the 4976.02 as you can see from my own xbox's below

but if you wanna go for the 77 then best check the mod/tsop points are still bridged

just don't go and use a bfm bios on a tsop or mod - very bad fatal move

bfm's are for the xploits only so be careful what bios you use.

if you got a winbond tsop then evox won't flash it - raincoat 0.5 or later is needed for these tsop's

soz if I'm preaching to the converted - but otherwise I would think carefully about just steaming in if you ain't 101% sure of what ya doing

The evox.ini is as it should be. no # in front of any of the flash properties.

I didn't mod it.  someone else did.  It's not write protected or anything.  its a st tsop, not a winbond tsop.  its not a bfm bios.  My reason for upgrading the bios is I want to put a 250 gig hd in it and the way it's set up now I can't.  I'm not all that concerned about the eject fix or anything I just fugure I'd upgrade the bios first before I buy a hd so in case I fubar the bios I will still have money to replace the xbox.  I kinda figured  it was the points but I wanted to make sure there wasn't another option.
