nes6502:

Just wanted to post my sincere thanks for releasing this.   The XBOX still holds a lot of retro value for tons of people and your contributions mean a lot.

Thanks!

I just wanted to draw a line of humor on a subject that makes me sad especially since I read that this would be the last piece of work from nes the subject that interested me now, i feel it deserves better than these stupid drama.

That is funny. Don't get me wrong. What BP did is not "stupid drama".

He stole my FBL core (He loves to deny that but FB 1.1 has the FBL core called FBA.xbe), added it to CoinOPS, didn't  get my consent or even give me credit. He also didn't honor any of my requests for how to update it (no source code released, he changed the name so he could get the credit, no release through xbins). He has disrespected the emulation scene by not releasing the source. All this when I just released it 5 weeks ago and I am still actively developing it.

I take that very seriously. It doesn't just affect me. It affects all Xbox users since they will not get the benefit of any future fixes or ports from me. They will also likely not get any new ports from other developers if they think their work will be ripped off the moment it is released.

That is not how I would have it, but I don't have any choice. Xbox development is fun but it is very time consuming. I do all of this in my free time. It usually takes all of my free time. I don't get paid. I just get the credit and people who say thank you. I am not working just so someone else can get the credit.

@bp: "private FTP of cba neil etc only has one persons mame on it"....you really are
grasping for straws here dickhead, get your facts straight.

@nes: this is such a pity your developing on the Xbox had to stop because
of this egotistical, self-centered fu@%wit.
Thanks for everything you have done nes, sterling work.  smile.gif

I would hate to see you stop developing FBL and other future Xbox projects but ultimately it is your call.

Whatever your decision I bid you good luck my friend.

great, I get back from my christmas holiday to find its all gone tits up again.

sorry to hear your work got stolen nes, it is a shame because your emulators made such a big impact in such a small space of time.

just for the sake of manners and dignity once again we must all suffer. thanks for the hard work, i think FBL 1.1 will still be around for a long time despite this.

Why is it that some drama ALWAYS spoils all the fun? N64 emulation halted over a leaked release, mame halted over "copying" the sources etc.... once again the bad wins over the good, I guess the good isn't strong enough to beat the bad or something.

Did you guys ever copy each others homework? I sure did but I always asked first, if i couldn't then i'd either ask someone else or make it mutually beneficial so i was allowed. Much better than bullying or stealing, i like what i see when i look at myself.

There are certain rules and regs when it comes to these things, if ppl dont respect that then everything would descend into chaos. it is the same online as in the real world, it is a bit backwards to go on like you can do whatever the fuck you like and fuck everyone else! totally bad attitude will only cause you pain!

I would like to own a copy of showcase 2. Why? because it is all that is left it has killed everything else. I have always supported BP, thought he is just misunderstood but an apology was the least required of him and he can't even do that. Not sad not angry just very dissappointed. That this has happened and the reaction on both sides. Escalated out of control and became a bit silly really. Oh well.... life goes on.

Stealing is bad and what goes around comes around! BP if you want a happy life try being a nicer person otherwise you will have no friends and no life except a shitty one. I don't care what you think of me by the way so don't bother saying anything to me. Ever. I'll take your stuff and use it and not give you any credit. You should be used to that im sure you will understand.

Happy new year everyone - keep the spirit alive! lol  sleeping.gif

NES6502 your the man.
Just noticed the extra option added to the end of the GUI options to Enable/Disable video changing
on the MainMenu. Top marks and thanks for listening. Will allow for different skinning options.

This is a real tragedy.  In a one month time span, nes almost single handedly brought the Xbox emulation scene back from the dead.  To lose a developer like him is a tremendous blow.

It's not nes that's trying to punish the community.  That is 100% incorrect and people who believe that don't understand entirety of the situation.

I wish there wasn't as much risk in the Xbox development community. There are still a few projects that need to be finished and we are going to lose one of the scene''s best developers because some prick wants to steal hard work. I would totally understand you leaving nes6502, but please be the bigger man.

@nes6502:  Count me among those who strongly wish that you would reconsider.  But like others have said, I wouldn't blame you for keeping your sources closed until you see fit to release them from now on.  Enough is enough.

If that's what it takes for you to keep your positive work going, then so be it in my opinion.  I think that is the best way to go at this point, even though itÂ’s unfortunate to see it come to that.  I'd also LOVE to see a new version of MAME from you someday.  Judging by FBL, it would be incredible.  And it would be updated in the most important area that needs it.

If the community has lost you for good behind this, then its pretty much dead. No doubt about it. It disappoints me a great deal to see your sparkling career as an Xbox developer come to a close on this note, even though it was not you who would have gone out this way.

I really hope you reconsider your exit.

Are people really saying nes should just slave over these apps and devote so much of his life to bringing this stuff to the community, only to have any hacker come along and take it for themselves?  That's the dilemma here.  It helps to try to see both sides.  It's a huge risk to work on the Xbox right now and this weekend demonstrates how it may not be one worth taking.  One of a developer's worst fears was realized this weekend.

It really is a shame that this ever happened in the first place.  This community once flourished so brightly.  I guess were at the end of the road now.   sad.gif  But I hope there is some way to get this back on track.  I encourage you to continue nes.....somehow.

The open source agreement should not be a factor, it should be a given.  But indirectly this makes things very hard for an Xbox developer to want to be a part of considering this weekend's antics.

Not everyone respects the right way to go about things.  But nes always has.

Yeah, nes is an honourable person,
not like others on some forums...who get carried away in the moment.  smile.gif
Look at the end result now, probably no more updates of a fine emu,
that had progressed so much in just 1 release & 1 update.
Pity that some people couldn't have seen how this would go before acting.

Consider this chaps, a new Mame version, Xbox capable roms only, obviously.
Wouldn't that lay to rest "ANY" Xbox versions out there coded by anyone ?
Supported by ResXtras Video's, Screenshot's, Title shot's and Flyer's.
Not to mention a whole host of different skin's in various definition's.
Let's be honest, this isn't far fetched at all !
