QUOTE(sbpaabck @ Nov 17 2009, 10:18 PM) *

hey sorry for the delay been doing too much real life stuff, added some tonight (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hey sbpaabck, its good to have you back  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I see that you've entered a decent number of games so far, I checked a couple of them and they seemed accurate so good work!

One thing though, did you change the settings for Super Smash Brothers? To 1964, with Rice 6.11? I tried this setting and it didn't render the backgrounds or menu's correctly and then froze???

If you didn't change this setting then never mind, I must have changed it by mistake..

The best SSB settings that I have found, and I'm pretty sure they are the best because I actually play this game a fair bit, are:

Super Smash Brothers
ROM Info: [!]
Emu: (1964)
Vid Plugin: (5.60)
Audio: (Jttl)
Video: 6MB
Dynarec: 8MB
Paging: 2MB

1964 is the best with these settings but you have to have at least 6MB video ram otherwise it slows down when there are too many things on the screen, also drop the paging to 2MB to prevent locking up while viewing surreal 64 menu. Anything other than Rice 5.60 doesn't render things properly, Rice 5.60 is pretty close to perfect. Very slight audio stuttering or crackling is noticeable, some prefer basic, I think Jttl is best as it doesn't stutter as much, just slight crackle every now and then.

I don't mind if you change settings that I have listed, just please make sure that they are better than the previous settings listed  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Also, if you could try to give just a little bit more information in the notes section for some games. Just note as briefly as possibly, how the game plays, and how or why the settings that you have found are better than the default settings, or other previously listed settings.

I look forward to more entries to the list from you sbpaabck. Also thank you to Xmodder DeluX for his additions to the list, they have been added and your name listed  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

More settings are greatly appreciated!!

Wow!  biggrin.gif  Thanks so much for your input xpfrags! I just finished checking your first lot of settings and now I see that you've posted another lot already  biggrin.gif

Your first lot of settings that you posted (Bass Master 2000, BattleTanx, Global Assualt, Blast Corps, and F1 WGP) were great, I was really hoping that somebody might have gotten a few of the games working that I hadn't yet, and that's just what you did!

I just have a couple of questions and suggestions about a couple of the settings.

Firstly, are the BattleTanx's supposed to run that fast? Seems a ridiculous pace for a tank to move to me, but then again I've never played the original game so I don't know.  blink.gif

Second, in Blast Corps and F-1 WGP , i noticed a fair amount of audio crackling  with LLE RSP, and Basic audio respectively. Setting audio to Jttl seemed to fix this for both without affecting the speed  smile.gif

Please don't take these questions/suggestions the wrong way, (i'm sure you wont, but just incase) they are simply for the benefit of the quality of the list, and hopefully for your retro gaming pleasure as well  tongue.gif

Again, I can't thank you enough for your help with this project, it is so nice to see so many people chipping in with their settings and keeping this project moving  smile.gif

I will get right onto testing this next lot of settings that you have so generously provided, and look forward to seeing more soon  biggrin.gif   biggrin.gif

Awesome, thanks so much for your help xpfrags  biggrin.gif

Just wondering still, is BattleTanx supposed to play so fast? I haven't ever played the game on an real Nintendo 64 so don't know how fast it is supposed to be? It seems a bit fast to me though, what do you think?

Also, I was wondering if you could find out something for me? I am experiencing a problem with a few games, Buck Bumble, Mega Man 64, and Diakatana. In this problem the controller does not work properly, because when you move the joystick all the way to the left or right (or top or bottom) then it stops working. This problem makes these games pretty much unplayable, but I have read in other places that they work without problems?

If you could check these games, and see if you have the same problem then that would be great  biggrin.gif

Thanks again for all of your help xpfrags, and don't worry about bad english or grammar, I know what you mean  biggrin.gif

Just wanted to make a little announcement that the list is really starting to shape up, now over 2/3's complete!

Out of 300 games, there are over 200 tested, with around 170 of those now playable with these settings, and more to come very soon  biggrin.gif

I'm not sure, but I think this might be the most complete Surreal 64 compatibility list ever, and its not even finished yet  tongue.gif

Click here to view the Surreal 64 XXX B5.1 CE Compatibility and Performance Settings List

Keep the settings coming everyone, we'll have the surreal.ini released in no time!

Wow!

This is great guys and gals.

I was considering doing the N64 at some point myself but had pretty much decided that I'd just have all the games ready on the box and if I ever wanted to play one I would just try and see if I could figure it out.  Seeing somebody else do such a great job tackling this project is really great.  I can't believe that this is the first time I was aware of this thread.  I guess I've just been tuning out the N64 stuff since for so long there was nothing going on with it and any posts I'd see were just questions about why this or that game doesn't work.

Might I suggest that the people who have made settings put their name on the settings they've tested (if they can remember).   When it is done, you will have a lot easier time putting the "Thanks" section together in the ini file.  Being able to give nods to the people who've participated in my project is very important, I think, so I've tried to record who's done what, even though I'm sure I've missed some things and I hope the people left out speak up and get their props.   cool.gif

Can't wait to see this one done.

Thanks,
~Rx

Hiya,

I filled in some settings i'd been using as I noticed it was blank, I wouldn't overwirte your work good sir! That would be rude! Definately not intentionally.

I had about 20 or so games already running before this y'see so just quicky added some entries for settings that worked for the ones that were already blank. If they were filled in I just left them...

Anyhow im not an expert at this so im sure ppl will be able to improve on my settings although im trying and spend a good while messing around with each game before I give up some are bound to slip the net and could be done better. Hopefully ppl who play these games on surreal will come across this and offer their experience too. We already have had lots of great suggestions, its really cool (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I will try to put more detail in but if I haven't its because the "standard" settings outlined at the top of the spreadsheet are working best (for me.)

Tara...

Woaw
Very impressive work ...
When we are many, the work go fast lol

I made mine INI alone and it take me too much time ...
I understand all the games are not good configured, but with it many many many games can be playable on xbox biggrin.gif

But i'm really very impatient to test your INI file when it will be done biggrin.gif

- How to convert the GOOGLE DOC page in INI file if we want to do it oursel to test ?

- When it will be done, do you will release a pack with all we must need to have for N64 without roms ?

- Some one have news about the guys who continue to code the emulator and plugins ... or the project is dead ?
Because i many discus over the web for help and i think all we made is the reason why now the last source of 1964 in PC is done biggrin.gif
Not for nothing i wish ...

Awesome work xpfrags! Well at least now we know that the problem is not my xbox controller  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I'll update your controller settings to the list shortly.

No worries sbpaabck, take your time  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Also, sry about the misunderstanding about the SSB settings, I have no idea how I managed to mess those up. However, it was good in the end because it gave me incentive to find better settings, which are now listed and are pretty much perfect!

Hey Rx, thanks for the interest, it's good to see you discovered this little project.

All props and nods are being recorded in the spreadsheet and will be entered to a thankyou section in the surreal.ini

- I am still holding a copy of your surreal.ini, and hopefully will still use it as a template for the new one, as it is conveniently listed in alphabetical order, which makes entering settings for games so much easier.

- At this stage you would have to enter all of the settings from the Google Doc in to the surreal.ini by hand, you are welcome to do this, please let us know how you go  smile.gif  Or I expect that it will be completed in around a week or two.

- I'm not sure about releasing a package for this, I think the surreal.ini is all people would really need, but perhaps putting it all together might be better for some people.

- I really hope that the guys who were planning to port the new 1964 code to xbox haven't given up, but I haven't heard any news from them for some months now  sad.gif

Thanks so much for all the interest and support guys, great work!!  biggrin.gif

Now i'm off to test more games and get this project finished!

Here is a couple more games for the list:

Rally Challenge 2000 (U) [!]
Emu:  1964
Vid Plugin: 5.60
Audio: JttL
Max Video: 10
Dynarec: 8
Paging: 4
Dark Green: Plays Perfectly.  Change the max video memory to 10 in order to boost the game close to full speed.

Rampage – World Tour (U) [!]
Emu: 1964
Vid Plugin: 5.10
Audio: JttL
Max Video: 4
Dynarec: 8
Paging: 4
Dark Green: Plays very well.  Use Rice 5.10 to render the words the best.

Rampage 2 – Universal Tour (U) [!]
Emu: 1964
Vid Plugin: 5.60
Audio: JttL
Max Video: 4
Dynarec: 8
Paging: 4
Dark Green: Plays Perfectly.

Rat Attack (U) (M6) [!]
Emu: 1964
Vid Plugin: 5.60
Audio: JttL
Max Video: 4
Dynarec: 8
Paging: 4
Green: Game runs smooth but there are graphical glitches in the characters and the floor is black in some levels.  (It glitches with every video plugin).  This game is weird, you have to hold A and draw a rectangle around the rats.  Then you run to the circle and deposit them in it.

Re-Volt (U) [!]
Emu: 1964
Vid Plugin: 5.60
Audio: Basic  This allows you to get past the first screen.
Max Video: 6  This speeds up the game.
Dynarec: 4  This gives you about two seconds of playability after you select a track.
Paging: 4
Red: The game has potential because it seems like it runs out of memory after you start a race.  You are able to do a soft reset after the freeze but you cannot enter the surreal menu.  The dynarec memory seems to let you play for about two seconds before it runs out of memory.

Edit: You forgot to add this one to the list too:
WWF: No Mercy (U) [!]
Bright Green (Runs well with default settings)
