Show Some Love For The New Madmab Edition Xport Emus!
« on: August 05, 2009, 07:31:00 AM »

If you haven't seen it yet, let my introduce you to the most amazing NES emulation experience available today....

XPORT NES: Madmab Edition!

It's been a treat to work with madmab and Gilles.  It just so happened that they were fiddling around with the stuff they're into publicly here while I was putzing around with a half-assed dream of testing all the games and getting a screenshot package together during testing.  Madmab was getting a few new features worked into the Atari 5200 emu and Gilles was learning how to tweak his craft by his very talented girlfriend.

Then we got to talking...

Sometimes things just work out right and the three of us bounced new features for the GUI off each other and in time the Dynamic Skins and RessurectionXtras were born.

With Madmab's coding skills (that are always in short supply around here these days), Gilles' knowledge of the XPORT skin interface and his great artistic abilities, and my crippling OCD aiding me in testing every emulated console game while creating artwork, collecting videos and information for the synopsis'..... we've really got something special to share with everyone here.

If you haven't already, I urge you to get the Madmab Edition update to the XPORT NES emulator now hosted at the usual place.

Included in the download is Gilles' Dynamic Skins which have 15+ pre-configured set ups and will also allow you the ability to tweak different elements of the skin to your liking and save your own preferences.

Also, there is a synopsis file which will pull up information about whatever game you're highlighting by pressing the right joystick button.  This will pull up a screen which tells you all sorts of information about the game such as Genre, #of Players, Developer, Publisher, Console, Controller, Intro, Cheats, Controls, etc.... The amount of information per game varies, but there is currently an entry for 1,425 different NES games including all US & Europe licensed games, many Japan games that are playable and non-text-heavy, prototypes, pirates, hacks, Famicom Disk System games (translated and untranslated), and other categories....

Don't forget to click the banner on my signature to go to the Xtras page and download all of the artwork and video packs for it too so you can really enjoy the new setup.   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Oh... and I can't forget to mention others who this work would not be possible without.

Emumovies... for supplying thousands of intro-videos for the games.

Mega_Man_(?) & stupot1 who have spent countless hours making hundreds of missing videos for us to enjoy.  Combined, they've already knocked out most of the videos we'll ever need for NES, Genesis, most of the Ataris, SMS/GG, and others.  The goal is to never have a game you scroll past that doesn't have video representation.  Megaman also did great work on part of the NES synopsis and made the Game Genie cheat database a feature that works great now.

pCeSlAyEr, for his vast knowledge of the TurboGrafx 16/CD and his invaluable help in the testing process and making all of the missing videos for that system.   We've seen some Gameboy videos from him and he's even got some work going on in the PSX video department.

nate1579 for getting all of those Wide Icons together and cataloging who was the artist for each one.  Hopefully we see a lot more of those in the future.

Horscht... Don't know where you've been my man, but you're the guy who made me believe that this could be done in the first place.  You did hundreds of SNES videos for us back before any of this was released.

bc54... thanks for the Gameboy Color videos.  Hope to see more from you

......

ummm.... I know there are others who have contributed, but I can't think of them just now... I'll just say thanks to everyone else who has contribued.  You can't imagine the time you've saved me and allowed me to spend on whatever the focus of my organizing work was.

Thanks everyone, and enjoy!  Hope to see more of you helping out with the project now that you can all truly experience the emulation perfection we're all working together to achieve.

~Rx

People will probably get more excited as they see their favorite system come out.  Although I would have to say that by far the NES is probably one of the most popular systems....

Thanks again for this release. The experience you provide on NES is one of the most complete I've seen (even if I prefer the PC-Engine smile.gif ).

You guys are extending the XboX' life span... They should see that in Redmond lol.

Anyway, keep on the good work.

TurboGrafix 16 is very far along in the Xtras process.  pCe helped me out a lot with that one.
