Heyyyyyyy Sotu!
« on: July 08, 2009, 12:23:00 AM »

I've got the first beta of SNES9x with dual preview now.

In the next few weeks I hope to re-test the roms on XPORT's emu, finish the romsets, get any additional videos we might need and upgrade the screenshots pack before I convert them to the Enhanced Artwork for upload here.

I was hoping you could send me whatever Boxarts you've touched up.  I've seen some samples of your work and I'd love to add it to the collection.

Thanks man,
~Rx

I've been wondering what dimensions you use for your boxart, sotu? Do you have a standard size for each type or..?

For snes being wider than tall, I use 350 pixels wide, no particular reason. I've been using art from this site which is quite large so 350 seemed about right.

Res, I actually already posted it in my boxart thread on "the other site".  You just never responded so I didn't know if you got it or not.  It's got all the boxart I've edited from thecoverproject website.   But to make it easier for you I'll go ahead and zip up just the SNES stuff I've done so far.  I probably won't do all of them because I don't have time to mess with them since starting my new job.

Here's one example to illustrate how much more bad ass the scans from the coverproject are in comparison to the average quality stuff we find everywhere else.

Cool man.... These are so much better.

When I first started this project I didn't really care so much about quality so long as there were as many games as possible represented.  Now that a lot of the loose ends on most of the major systems (besides GBA) are through, I've taken it upon myself with the help of a few others to cram as much HQ stuff in the artwork packs as we could find.

I figure no reason to half-ass anything at this point.

Thanks for the link,

Wow.  Those are pretty nice!   wub.gif

On a side note I spent a good portion of these week finally going thru the sets RessX made available and running them thru Romcenter, etc and getting everything all spiffied up.

Still need to work on Snes, Lynx, 7800, and Colecovision though.

You still need to work on getting them set up, or there is still work needed on the Xtras?

I was keeping my fingers crossed that was a bridge we had already crossed.

I did add some HQ boxart from thecoverproject to the 7800 and planned on seeing what they had for Colecovision, and trying to get somebody to do the few lightgun games for the 7800, but other than that, are we done with those?

Hey Sotu...

I just noticed that you use 375 as the width.  I've figured out that you can go quite a bit larger than that.  Do you have these boxarts you've done in a larger size?  I've been doing as much as 675 pixels without problems in most emulators and I don't think that would cause any problems in the SNES emu.

I personally use 400 pixels max in height or widht, and believe me it's a good size, it looks perfect (with all the details) in 720p/1080i. i had some crashes/xbox freezes with 600 pixels height boxarts in 720p with dual boxarts/videos. Now with all set up 400 pixels max, NO FREEZES AT ALL, NEVER. beerchug.gif
