Fba-xxx 1.28 Vs 1.29
« on: July 06, 2009, 02:02:00 AM »

just wondering if anyone could point me to a site that details the differences between 1.28 and the newest version of 1.29.

i have a full set for 1.28, but i read that there is a newer version with pgm support and much more. i just cant seem to find much actual info on it. is there an official site or forum? i would specifically like to know what games/roms are supported by the newest version, that are not in 1.28, as well as what the newest version actually is...google turned up a few versions labeled 1.29 but they both are just an xbe file with no docs or anything.

thanks  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The latest version i think is 1.29c however that comes in a few flavours cause over the last 6 weeks or so it has had a few tweaks and additions, better support for 720p, Cave drivers etc. etc.. Last update was 10th or 14th June -ish i think. I have reason to believe there will be a newer version pretty soon (maybe just a couple of days) who knows for sure. Only Kenshiro can answer that. As far a differences between 1.28 and 1.29c im not the one to comment as i used a much older FBA back in the day and switched straight to 1.29c. From what i remember its driver updates, games added and a few features added. More skins were made available by users in differing definitions. There are users who will answer this thread with much more experience with 1.28 and 1.29c. Havent really helped at all have i. Doh.

What's news what news?

the main difference is the drivers themselves, CPS1 - 2 / Cave / Neogeo / Toaplan / Psikyo etc... as been updated to the latest FBA. You should take a look here if you wanna more details :

http://neosource.1em...56.msg10100#new

For non driver related stuff, except very few things, it's the 1.28 bit per bit wink.gif The "final" build will be available soon, i assume before end of Summer if i get time. Moooo!

sorry for the double post, but is there a way to automatically separate the roms from a older set (all roms in one folder) into the cps1 cps2 ng and others sub-folders from the newer sets?

They dont have to be you know, you could just put them in the roms folder and the sorting is done for you. If you want them proper and up to date then you will have to do what i did (although not the quickest method) loaded each section and wrote down the rom names. Then using xbmc or ftp then move them to correct folders. Someone, somewhere, will have a list of what goes where. But not me im afraid.

Hello,

I've recently updated to 1.29c  from 1.28. I'm using the FBA-XXX pro 1.28 romset. For whatever reason, the roms don't launch and I get error messages and then I boot back to the list. I deleted the config files in TDATA and UDATA.

As far as I can tell, the 1.28 romset is the most recent released, so I don't think that is the issue. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong here?

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Sup, y'all.

What MAME romset am I going to want to look for that is going to work in the current version of FBA?  I've tried a couple different places trying to get Garou and Samurai Shodown 2 to work, and haven't had much success with either...

You need the MAME 0.133 sets, i'd suggest to wait for the new release and not using 1.29c. It was released a long time ago with beta status. There's more games in 1.30 and most (all?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/love.gif) ) drivers issues has been fixed, especially on Neogeo and CPS2. BTW no idea when it will be release.

I guess I'm not quite understanding.  Are you saying then that its because of driver issues that games won't run on FBA Pro?  The neogeo and garou roms that work fine in GGPO and 2DF on the PC are utterly broken on the Xbox. Both of them are supposed to use the same MAME 0.133 sets.

I'm confused... blink.gif

...couldn't edit my previous post.

Yeah it seems that Final Burn Alpha XXX Pro is messed up.  ALL of the CPS2 games that I have come back as bad when audited against the FBA Pro datafile.  Many of the Neo games that work fine (and have for years) in MAME are broken as well.  And since when have I NEEDED to have the uni-bios in neogeo.zip to run King of Fighters 95???

Guess I'll wait for the next release...

I just mean that 1.30 will have fixs for the known issues, it looks like you doesn't have the right romsets, that's all. I wasn't saying that 1.29C can't launch a Neogeo or CPS2 game lol. Scan your sets with Romcenter or CLRmamepro, the sets are the same as the latest MAME.
