Flashing Tsop On 1.0
« on: September 27, 2003, 09:50:00 PM »

Guys,

Ok,

I've read about all sorts of TSOP flash methods out there...  so many I am now confused.

I have a 1.0 xbox (thomson) with a 256k cheapmod bios flashed to 4977.   I would like to know the best way to flash my TSOP without (preferrably) needing the 007 hack etc.

Is it possible?  can i boot my cheapmod, disable it with a switch and then flash the onboard tsop?  It would also be nice to have 2 or 4 bios capability.

How do I go about this?

If I must do the 007 hack can i save my stuff to the HDD without needing the memory card considering i already have a mod installed?

Thanks...

Can't easily flash your TSOP with the CheapMod without additional code and a 12C508 addon.

Your best bet is to use the 007 trick and Raincoat.

Since your Xbox is already modded, you won't need a memory card.  Just copy the appropriate save file to your Xbox hard drive via FTP.  Bridge the TSOP write enable points, boot 007, load the savegame from HDD, and flash.  Better yet, split your TSOP first using one of the excellent tutorials.

But why flash your TSOP if you already have an LPC mod?  And possibly sacrifice your ability to play on Live?  For most of us here, multiple BIOSes are unnecessary.  If you require multiple BIOSes, buy a cheap used X2.0 Lite for under $20.

Um...

Ok.. why flash the TSOP when you already have a modchip...

Answer:  I'm a nerd and justy wanna be able to do it... :)   secondly I may get another box and would like to avoid buying another mod and solder job.   I figure the TSOP flash is actally an easier install :)

Also my understanding is that I can run live just fine...  just need to keep an original bios that i can boot from on the tsop.

BY the way...  I'm not all that interested in live....   although xlink is cool as its free.  I'm in Australia and haven't bothered with Live to date...   it launches here on 8th october.

Cheer.. and thanks for the reply!

Could be I'd have a problem as I'm running an unlocked hard drive as well as a modded M$dashboard  (region free).

I believe i'd have to reverse the above to boot back into an unmodded bios?
