Could the next release of Surreal64 have an option to ADJUST SCREEN SIZE & POSITION like Xports emulators?

It's been mentioned, but I don't know how "doable" it is yet. Since all 3 emulators would have to support it.

well heres what I noticed with Surreal B5.1 CE
it won't play any of my perfect dark roms on my 128MB xbox I just get a black screen of death whereas Surreal 5.0 plays it pretty good using 1964 Rice 5.6
Can anyone else verify this?

Do other roms bomb out as well or just Perfect Dark?

Any status updates on the project? I'm really looking forward to what kind of improvements can be made  ohmy.gif

It's slow going but it's being worked on. Anyone with some porting skills and some free time - drop me a line. Porting the new 1964 source could use some more heads.

Still hacking away at the 1964 1.1 source. I got it to boot a rom finally, but it locks up soon after. Progress is being made, but it's slow.

Wow, now this is a nice surprise. Its been over year now since I last visited xbox-scene. Amazing how finally it looks like were going to see a nice update to the n64 emulator now that the new 1964 source files were released  pop.gif

Checking in-- Hows the progress with the new launcher and the port of the new source? Keep it up, this is some awesome work!
Also, I noticed on the SVN you have source for a B5.2 along with B6 (assuming this is the big 1964 update and new launcher.) Is 5.2 at a good point to build/play with?

As for the new launcher: it's still being worked on, however somewhat slow (we all have a life after all).
As for the port, you'll have to ask Ez0n3.

The changes in 5.2 are mainly cosmetic, the core is nearly untouched. Some bugs were fixed, some things were changed (for the better i hope). Overall i'd say it's stable.

Edit: A glimpse of what's to come, nothing special...

Can I just say how great it is to see the original Surreal UI being used again.  happy.gif

That tired old FBA-X UI that got bolted onto Surreal XXX looked ugly as hell compared to this one.

Good work!

Ahh, its nice to see progress being made on Surreal!  Especially since I just recently got into the Xbox modding scene, and thought that I was about 5 years late for any active development.

As a thought, would it be feasible to remove either UltraHLE or PJ64 from this release and replace them with Mupen64Plus?  They have a fairly recent source release for windows platforms.

That way, only emulators with active development going on would be in the package.  Of course, if we had newer PJ64 source...

:-p

In case you're curious...

I am having trouble with this version of surreal on my 128mb (and 1ghz but i dont think that matters??) xbox, it crashes instead of loading roms. I am guessing this is to do with the paging method change? It would be great if you could add the switcher between the 2 methods next time  smile.gif

There are some problems with that. Though I would love to see another emulator in the Surreal arsenal, mupen is OpenGL. The last time I checked OpenGL is only possible through Linux, so that would mean it would have to be ported like XMugen.
And instead of seeing emulators being removed i would rather see a default emulator setting. Something where you select the emulator and plugin the first time you load your rom and it uses that one as its default. If you want to change its default you can select a different emu/plugin in emulator settings.

Sorry, couldn't edit. I wanted to clarify so people didn't think i was talking about what already exists.

ok I got my friend to try out 5.1 CE on his 128mb box aswell, and we can confirm that larger roms refuse to load in this version (but work fine in B5), which is quite a major problem  sad.gif . It would be great if its fixed in the next version, keep up the great work  biggrin.gif

Yep
I have that same problem, only small games work great.

Isn't this already in Surreal? I remember the app automatically choosing the last emulator you've selected (well, not choosing but highlighting the last one) when launching a game the 2nd time
