I've been playing with this today, very cool! Much easier to test games out.

Ez0n3 didn't mention it, but the Dynarec and Paging Memory can be increased up to 20MB now (16 was the old limit). This opens up a few more game possibilities.

I had an idea too; currently Controller Sensitivity in Surreal just alters the Analog Sticks dead-zone. I wonder if it's easy enough to put a proper sensitivity setting in?

Thanks heaps Ez0n3.

I would have to see an emu that has it already. I don't recall seeing the sensitivity code, I'll have to look a little harder smile.gif

And I noticed a typo:
QUOTE
- Fixed III: Shortcut folder not being accessible to some FTP programs

Should be:

- Fixed III: Screenshot folder not being accessible to some FTP programs

There is no "Shortcut folder" tongue.gif. I gotta stop posting stuff when I'm tired  laugh.gif

great to finally see someone working on this after so long, thanks Ez0n3.

speaking of which the pc rice plugins have extra options in for the video plugins,
like this

(IMG:http://www.goldeneyeforever.com/images/rice%20screenshot%20important.gif)

could you look into some of these options?, i know some would not work on the limited xbox ram and processor, but ive manually added these settings to the rice ini and made some jumps of 4-5 fps on some games.

I'll check it out. I'll have to find out what the actual parameter is. The only parameter on the XBOX versions that has "frame" in it is "FrameBufferEmulation" - that I recall. I've been meaning to try out the Win32 gui's, just haven't got around to it yet tongue.gif.

Hi,

I have made a little new Skin for "Surreal64 XXX CE", black version wink.gif
I give it to you ... it is for stand by my work on the INI file biggrin.gif
I'm working hard but it is very long lol

IPB Image

Skin : Surreal 64 XXX CE Black Skin

Sources PSD : Surreal 64 XXX CE Black Skin Sources

I give my source too, if some one is better than me to make it wink.gif
But the problem of Surreal is that there is no option to calibrate screen ... i'm in 16/9 and it is not perfect sad.gif

I wish one day the xPort skining is possible for it wink.gif
Bye

hi thanks, but i should've explained. its not just the frame update, but all of these options that i was thinking of.
every time i want to change the fast texture load settings i have to find the game in the rice ini file and add it manually, which can be tedious, i was wondering if you could implement the extra options into the emulator in some way, e.g select 1964 then when you choose your plugin press white and these extra options apear. would allow more options to fix games.

thanks again for working on this, i thought is was deader than duke nukem forever a 1 point

Brilliant stuff - Mario Kart 64 works perfectly again (it didn't in XXX b4.95 and later versions), thanks very much!
The dream would be to get the latest 1964 source, but any plugins updates would be great too. I'll be fun testing out which games have improvements!

Just got a chance to check this out...
I wouldn't say that Mario kart 64 works perfect.. It of course had some lag in 2 player mode. but I did notice that it and other games were running better. smile.gif
Man, we need that 1964 source...

Hey Ez0n3
I noticed that you had the one thread about audio plugins a few days ago and then bam!, you released: B5.1 Ce, all within the last few days. How long have you been working on it? Have you been basing this project out of another site, and that is why this is (what seemingly here) is the first news of it?

I am assuming with your ambitions, that you will be continuing to improve upon it.
Best of luck, and thank you. I hope that the community comes together and you get some good help on it. smile.gif

Does Goldeneye work yet?

I was thinking about something like that, but there are about 32 options for the Rice plugins and no one version uses them all. So that would be a little tricky. I would like to get all of the params working on all the versions - but that might defeat the purpose of using different ones - I have to look into it still. 32 options would be one heck of a menu! tongue.gif

Not ruling it out, but that may take some time smile.gif.

I would eventually like to get the emu and plugin selection in the menu rather than at launch. That way you can configure it once and then it will launch right in every time without having to keep making the same selections over and over. Not sure about that though - still debating.

If you use 1964 and Rice 5.1.0, Mario Kart 2 player should be very smooth. But, you can't see anything on the first players screen sad.gif. When you go up in Rice versions - things slow down. Still looking into why, but it could be as simple as that because it's only rendering half the screen - it's faster than the versions that render both properly.

Getting a hold of 1964 author Schibo is the only way you'll see new 1964 source - and that's if he wants to (or can) release it. I've had no luck contacting him sad.gif.

Bomb Bloke and I have been throwing ideas back and forth for a little while (he pointed out a few bugs, the skip loading screen idea and some other stuff). Just recently, more people have started suggesting stuff and pointing out problems that I wanted to work in. I also wanted to add some audio plugins which is the reason for the audio plugin post a few days prior, but I just couldn't find the source. No one replied with any info at first so I figured it wasn't available so I just released what I had so far (was asked to by a few people) and then hunt for the source afterwards.

I was talking to Iriez when he uploaded 5.1 and he said he might know where to get it. The next day, a few different people (freakdave, edwardar and I think one more - bad memory tongue.gif) found the source and hooked me up. I don't think anyone took me very seriously until I released something smile.gif. Or I should have waited another day - but that's something I'm still working on. So it gives people something to play around with in the meantime.

Only the one release so far (5.1CE) smile.gif. I thought Goldeneye worked under UltraHLE, no?

My real work is on and off. I had like two weeks to kill so I put it towards trying to get Surreal up to snuff. It's the only emu I have so far (still have many to try) that's kinda lagging behind the others. My nieces and nephews (and me - kid at heart smile.gif) where having a hard time with crashing, compatibility issues and they would get into the menu and mess stuff up (one of the main reasons I did the CMD patch - the cuts keep them out of the confing and they're purdy smile.gif). Depending on how busy I am at work will determine how far apart the updates will be wink.gif.

well to be honest a few of these options require more ram not less meaning messing with them at all creates a crash on xbox, but the ones that work well for most games are

fast texture
(because it ignores crc and draws what it loads. can cause lines on the edges of textures but speeds up some games by 5 fps)

disable big textures
(because some of the rare games use these. when changed it loads them still but faster.  dry.gif  not quite sure how this works sleep.gif  but it does help by 2-3 fps)

texture 1 hack
(because beetle adventure racing and maybe a few others require it to fix texture placement)

but ones to avoid are
normal blender ( just doesnt work properly on xbox)
disable texture cache ( loads them into ram on request, filling ram faster)
fast loading tile ( same as above but for tiles)

basically these above are the ones that can make or break upto 7-8 fps on some games.

one more question,
does surreal use frame skipping at all because it seems to draw every frame?. because in the rice settings page for default options theres a frame skipping box, but im not sure if that would work on the xbox (i think it links to the emulators framskipping) and im not sure if is even in xbox versions.
if i knew anything about coding i'd help, but alas i have no clue laugh.gif
