I downloaded the xtras video packs and converted them from wmv to xmv and the videos wont show up. I converted the zsnes videos to xmv and they worked great instantly. Im guessing xport emus are picky about the way xmv is converted so can someone please tell me what tool you use to convert wmv to xmv??

Its bad enough romcenter wont rename all my goodsets properly and i have to rename 500 roms by hand but thats for another topic.

"WMV to XMV Converter" is all you need.

Xport emus don't have the ability to show dual previews yet. The madmab betas aren't out yet. Xtras are made in the advance that they will be out soon.

Wait a minute... you have the latest Goodsets? have you tried my dats with romcenter. "MMQuestion alt dats"

Is there a guide or instructions someplace for using romcenter with these packs? I remember doing this with ROMs years ago but I also remember how much of a faff it was getting them to rename correctly.

Why not just stick with the "good" convention in the first place? I think most people will have these sets anyway.

1. ok I guess my romsets must be old (newest on newsgroups atleast) Thats fine I will just rename them by hand.

2. Oh I need to wait for a special version of the emulator (that answers my question in the xtras topic). I wasnt aware of that any estimated release date?

3. I got the videos not showing up problem sorted. It was my bad.

4. WMV to XMV Converter works great but I can only convert 1 wmv at a time. How do them all at once? I noticed the run.bat that came with zsnes can do them all at once but the converted xmvs are 4x bigger than the WMV to XMV Converter ones. Is their a newer version of WMV to XMV Converter that Im not aware of? I got the one from unleashx folder on xbins.

for example...

Super Mario Bros III.wmv = 3.75MB

run.bat from ZsnexBox = 11.9MB

WMV to XMV Converter = 5.85MB

Obviously I want to use WMV2XMV but I cant figure out how to convert them all at once and I know you guys dont do them one at a time.

so did you try my dat? what good set do you have? I say get the new ones for Genesis, SNES and NES. my dat will work like a charm. don't put yourself naming all these. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

OK.. simple fix that was brought to my attention thanks to bigby.
1: open the run batch as a text document.
it should look like this: for /f "tokens=*" %%a IN ('dir /b ^"*.wmv^"') do xmvtool -i "%%a" -o "%%~na.xmv"
2: Add a "c" next to the: -i
making it this: for /f "tokens=*" %%a IN ('dir /b ^"*.wmv^"') do xmvtool -ic "%%a" -o "%%~na.xmv"
save and close. Then use as normal, putting the batch and converter in the folder of your .wmv files.

bamm, that should cut the file size in half with no apparent quality loss. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

There is a guide in the front page of the Xtras thread. In my dats, I made them based off the best dumps in the newest Goodsets. The good convention is virtually implied in the naming system, but there is a 42 character limit on the xbox and why would anyone want all those (b1) [!], [f2-jap], ect.. on there roms anyway.

Rx made sure to get the most efficient, truest an cleanest name possible for each and every rom.

what site says what the current goodsets are?

my genesis set is GoodGen.v3.00.GoodMerged and has a 300 wrong with both dats.

That is the newest goodset.

using: MMQuestion Rxtras - Genesis (All Gen & 32x) [2-5-09]
I get 866 Green, and 25 red out of 891 (using this set)

GoodGen.v3.00.GoodMerged should have a total of 5871 roms.

there is is something wrong in your factors.

EDIT: The missing red 25 roms are ones that are new translations or hacks not found in the good set. You must get these individually.

ok Ill reinstall romcenter and try again now that I have confirmation my roms should be good.

also what romcenter do you recommend? I tried the newest and it seemed bloated compared to 2.71 (the version resX uses in the tutorial)

Romcenter - 2.71 is fine, that is what I use.

It really comes down to if you have a complete and true rom set. If you got the dats and romcenter that is all you need.

Im not sure but I probably only tried resX dat file with genesis the first time. Hopefully nes goes just as smoothly I think I had old goodset for nes. About to try again with the latest.
