First you have to get the original workbench 3.0/3.1/3.9 disks because they are copyrighted.

Where do you get workbench from these days? Didn't think they still made it.

I have a bunch of WHD games that I converted to self booting (sorta, you still have to load the game with the mouse controls).  I only got up to the letter G, though.

Hey waal,

I got everything set up according to the instructions, but I seem to be having problems.

The screenshots are in the right place, because when I higlight 'AmigaSYS4XBOX.hdf" in the games folder I get the screenshots to show up.  I assume the saves are in the right place, but I never get a chance to use them so I'm not sure (E:\SAVES\WINUAEX\AmigaSYS4XBOX)

I put AmigaSYS4XBOX.hdf, HD  Games 1.hdf and HD Games 2.hdf all in the D:\AMIGADISKS\HDF folder.

I select AmigaSYS4XBOX.hdf and the screen goes black.  I can exit out of it, but it just sits there at a black screen.

Any ideas?

Rx, are you using Gilles dynamic skin?

I was having the same problem until I changed back to the default skin.

Hoping that Gilles can fix this so that I can use his skin instead.

I use the default skin.

So would it be a resolution problem ? I'm on 720*576 PAL 60. With the fancy xbox settings : http://fancyxbox.inf...=1&secao=screen

edit.

Makes me think: Amigasys is also set in pal resolution.
So the Amiga OS runs in 640*256 PAL. I don't know if this usually work on NTSC screens, even if emulated. Try on PC with Winuae. Otherwise I'll have to provide NTSC drivers, too.

Heh.... funny you guys mention that.  I was thinking that myself, but hadn't gotten around to doing it with the NES artwork upgrade.

Thanks for figuring that out for me.  I was using the Dynamic Skin.

I wonder if there is a way to make the emu load up Amigasys automatically, so you don't even need to see the emulator at all.  It would make sense to do that if we're going to be using this.  Of course, you can always have two versions of the emu on your hard drive if you wanted to play games outside of Amigasys.  I just think it would be cool to load straight up to it without seeing any emuload screens.

And then there is also an option to automatically leave the emulator when the game exits too, so you could have a second version of this load straight up into the Amigasys and then leave the emu when you exit.

The only problem is I'm not too impressed with the command line stuff.  It still shows every single screen before loading the game (main menu, game select, the game configuration menu if it is the first time the game is being played).  I was hoping somebody could write something in the XPORT load code to bypass this stuff for use with this (and cut files in general).

Don't know if that's possible though.

EDIT:  Yeah... so I finally got it working.  The trick is renaming the files like you said up there, and using the default skins.

Aren't the screenshots supposed to show up on this?

It's pretty sweet.  I was just playing cannon fodder on there.  Seems like some of the games don't work, while others, like the King's Quest series aren't good for use with the controller.  A lot of these games probably work pretty well.

I take it you're still working on this waal?  Great job getting it set up so far.

I remapped the mouse buttons to the A & B buttons and made Black + Back the F10 button to back out of games.  (Only problem, of course, is F10 isn't the only thing used to back out.  I couldn't get Gauntlet II to do anything, and F10 didn't back out of it either)

Keep me informed if you're planning on making updates to this.  I think it would be really great if the non-working stuff was removed and the emu was configured right.  It's already more Amiga than I've ever played before.

Good luck waal.  I'm looking forward to see what you can come up with.  Amiga was one of the emulators I was probably never going to get around to for the Xtras.

Let me ask you though, are there a lot of games like Cannon Fodder which would be easy to program the controls for?  That's a good game (probably the best version I've seen of it so far) and would be nice to have in the straight up emulator too.  I would add games that were easy to configure like that, but I'm not going to spend any time configuring games that have a million different buttons.

Anyways.... looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the future and possibly having the BBC Micro on there.  I got all the roms for it a year and a half ago when it looked like somebody was actually porting it to the XBox, but then they disappeared.  Would be nice to see that working too.

And maybe any of those other systems that xyteam mentioned that aren't already emulated on the Box.

Later,

I run a lot of Amiga games on my xbox and I've found the best way (although still a massive pain in the arse to setup) is to use hdf files, run from the standard xport winuaex menu.

You have one hdf (named whdload.hdf here) which contains a small startup sequence, the whdload files and a few other minor workbench files.

You then have an hdf for each game which contains the whdload installed version.

Then when you initially come to playing a game, you put whdload.hdf in hd1 and insertgamenamehere.hdf in hd2.

Then it'll boot the game.  Takes a lot of time setting up all the games, but once it's done, it's done.

Then if whdload ever gets updated you just replace whdload.hdf

I was planning to make a small hdf (DH0) with KGLoad (thanks again) and WHDLoad installed to boot. And because I already have two big HDF for games (DH1, DH2), I'd like to edit the setup.ini file for paths. Will it scan properly if I add a path like GamePath=hd1:/games/0/ ?

Otherwise, I have already defined on Winuae windows a single directory as HD (i.e F:\Amiga_set\KGL) with KGLoad+WHDLoad and it works fine. And I know you can also do that with Winuaex. The problem would be the fatX filename limation (42 char.) on XBOX. But I already checked the package you supply and less than 50 games have to be corrected.

killergorilla, this is what I am attempting to do aswell.

What I've done is take the whd folder from winuaeloader (found in gamebase amiga) which contains:

"C" folder
"Devs" folder
"libs" folder
"S" folder

In the "S" folder I've had to edit the "user-startup" script to point to the relevant game.

Does this all seem right to you?

Also instead of creating a hdf for each game, I've unzipped a game (from your pack smile.gif )to its own folder.

So my setup is:

DH0: WHDload.hdf
DH1: Game (as a folder) (use directory as hard drive in winuaex)

Bigby, I think you could use a whole directory as hard drive whith all Games copied in kgload/games/. No need to split, I guess.

Yeah waal, kgload looks promising!

Waiting for killergorilla to implement a game scanner to filter out the games not in the list.

Also I've had difficulty editing the favourites.txt to show the games I do have sad.gif
