Bad Flash From Overheating?
« on: September 26, 2003, 09:28:00 AM »

Last night I flash a TSOP when I had forgotten to reconnect the fan.  It could have overheated mid-flash.  If I had played 007 for a few min first it would have.  Now I wonder if some bad flashes happen this way.  Any input anyone?

It depends on how much control the BIOS still has when 007 Linux is running.  If the system is no longer monitoring temperature, the CPU or GPU could burn out (but you'd probably smell it first!).  If it still is, a shutdown mid-flash is a possibility.

I've done the same thing myself, it's a sod of a job getting the board back out using the big electrolytic caps 'cos the heatsink's too hot!
