Mameox128plus runs also FixEight (sequel to Outzone) , plus support replay inputs , history.dat , and few very important option that can be accessed easily (like disable/enable sound, vmu optimization ).
So in short Mameox128plus is most advanced Mame experience on Xbox till now and should be used by true emulator fans - coinops is for newbies

As for FBA - I cannot believe what have read here - Fba will run any supported game within much better that Mame (try to run Airgallet in both or any shooter).Fba is a must for any pro xbox gamer that want to avoid frame skip or choppiness

If you just want to play the game with no bells or whistles, then FBA or MAME will work.

There is no better emulator to play CPS1, CPS2, NeoGeo, or Cave games than FBA. There is no other emulator on the XBOX that will run these in HD resolutions, or with graphics filters and still run at 60 FPS.

I'll take CPS1, CPS2, NeoGeo, and Cave games at 1080i, with high resolution graphics filters, and force feedback any day over plain jane vanilla mame at 480i.

Is there really that big a difference nes?  Maybe I should stop being a cheap bastard and buy the HD cables.

Cheers for the info nes.

I wasn't saying FBA-XXX was shit, I was just saying I didn't see a reason for keeping it alongside CoinOps.

Obviously I was wrong, I've not actually tested the larger games that are supported by FBA in CoinOps so haven't seen any slowdown.

Looks as though I'll be whacking FBA on the xbox too, just to play those bigger ones.  cheers!

Gotta be a "pro xbox gamer" after all  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Oh and I don't see a problem having different mame cores, you don't need to actually load the emulator code until you click to start the game, just run the menu as a separate program (which I think the current mame emus do).

I got to dissagree with this one. Most options are still there but require you to alter the ini.The menu is just gone because it is setup to be user friendly for the noobs. You search around the tdata and you will find the ini which has the fields. But I have had no need to do this because most everything has already been done that I care for anyway.FBA is a sweet emulator as well but it does not have the features that coinops provides so I dont use it myself anymore but I really liked it when I did.I never liked the skin and the skin layout for the fba either this is just a personal perferance I am sure its got its fans and haters. If there is a big difference on the game play between the two I can not tell the difference both play good in my book and it comes down for me to a choice about the availibility of the other features that may or maynot be performance related. But I will say that mame seems to have more of a future than FBA.I am guessing FBA is about max since samba support was never added.I think I read somewhere that one of the original developers said it was to much for the emulator.Coinops on the otherhand streams flawlessly so my best guess by this fact alone is its got more money left in the bank. And because it still has money there is still money left to spend.Translated more future options upgrades and performance possibilities. This could be wrong but makes since to me.

their both great emulators but when it comes to cps1,2 and neogeo you just can fault fba.the games have a sharper picture quality and thats without using hd cables, the games load faster and you can configure the buttons the way you want.but mame on xbox has its advantages as well so each to their own.

CoinOPS may soon use the FBA render engine for some games (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)...  Or I may just totally redo the FBA GUI as I dont like it and dont use it because of this. 97 percent of games run exactly the same on 3 percent of the games that slow down a bit at a few points they dont on FBA but unless you play it to that level and I dont much you cant really tell the diff. If you play it to that level the engine of FBA is more optomised just less games and a way more complexed GUI.

If NES and I went into partnership we could merge the best of both worlds im sure (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I have both emus myself.  Yours does pretty much anything I care about, so FBA hardly gets played.  Like I said before, I think aside from crisper images, FBA is really the emu for guys that are 25 or younger now.  Most of those games were out after I was done with arcades, and the CPS2 ones that I play work perfect in MAME already.

I'm looking forward to that partnership, and hoping that you guys understand each other and help each other out and push MAME to the next level.

Sounds like a good idea, take a look at the posts above about the other mame cores supporting various games, it'd be great to have the lot working together (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I have coded this feature into CoinOPS allready so I can run Mortal Kombats and midway games with sound. I just havent gone and got it going really well, I can tell it to launch games in different ways in CoinOPS and if people really know it they will have noticed that feature eg turn off sound with some games

That is some good news, I've only recently just tried out CoinOps and must say it's darn good.  You've done a great job.  Sounds like CoinOps could get even better, that'd be awesome.

Keep it up mate (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hey Britney- What's the eta on the next CoinOPS release? I recently had to reinstall everything on my XBOX, and I can't seem to find a place to dl CoinOPS plus, so I've been waiting for the next release (is it still going by the name "CoinOPS Refined?").

I'm excited to hear that you've gotten Midway games to run w/ sound.

Thanks again for all your hard work.

And for the record, I fully support CoinOPS over other arcade emus- a major reason being the GUI. I like that I can leave it on at a party and other people can pick it up and use it without having their hands held. It also looks way better, which is important.

If that makes me a n00b, then I don't want to be 133t.

Cheers underworld (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) good to see you like it all I want is my kids and mum can play with it...I agree with features but before they couldnt play it and now they can with no instructions.

the NEW COINOPS name and thread will come out in a week as it is close to release time the build is now very nice and alot of bugs removed (people want new drivers but they were 100 games or so with issues in existing drivers) The new version will fit to one DVD and may have an expansion DVD if RX makes one for a full set with everything else. The releases from then on will be new game drivers and bug fixs and will be tiny in size and allways overlay ontop of the  NEW COINOPS so this will be the new starting point as its like the other with 100s of fixes although it looks close there actually is alot of changes.

Till next week when I release a new Thread any ideas on a name CoinOPS xxxxxx anyone

also it would have been nice if this was finished so I can be aware of issues that helps me sort them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
