CPS3 Question
« on: September 09, 2008, 04:26:00 PM »

Does anyone have an old PC (less than 1 Ghz) and can test the CPS3 games using the latest Final Burn Alpha? I am guessing that they would be unplayable. The reason I ask is because I have ported the latest Final Burn Alpha, but don't have the interest in adding virtual memory support for CPS3 games if they would be unplayable.

Sorry can't help with testing on <1 GHz hardware, but does that mean that Turbo Out Run is playable on XBOX now ? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/love.gif)

Yes. At about 45 FPS, but with frameskip, it's very playable.

I also ported the original Final Burn. It plays Thunder Blade, Galaxy Force, Power Drift, etc... fullspeed with filters (and with less glitches than the Final Burn Alpha versions). The emulation of those games in Final Burn Alpha ran them at 30 FPS. Other games inlcude G-Loc, Strike Fighter, Street Fighter, and probably others.

No - they are working but slow - as in mame as in Fba

I must say - what a WQ$%#% great day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/love.gif)

It is with DDCrew and Explosiv Breaker

I don't know about the latest version of FBA, but there is a CPS3 Emulator for the box that works great, so the games are fully playable on the XBox if that's why you wanted it tested on the 1Ghz machine or less.  Hope that helps... prolly not.

there was a lot of trickery involved to get cps3 emulation on xbox.for starters the emu creates a swap file to pull off the supers, thats why you get a slight delay when you are about to perform the super moves.
either way its good to see that you are considering looking at puting it in nes6502.

double post oops,me bad.

Can this not be ported somehow to another emu?  Even though it's not perfect emulation?

I mean they're using a machine that is going to make black holes that devour the earth today somewhere in Europe.  This isn't particle science man. cool.gif

really i think the way you have to look at it is,cpx3 is a standalone emu just for cps3 and from what i know there is hell of a lot of trickery involved to get the xbox to play these.fba is a multi emu with multiple cores for cps1,2neogeo......blah blah.
i would love to have cps3 on fba,but i just dont think the xbox can pull it off through fba alone, would love to be proved wrong though.
but if nes 6052 can find a way then that would be great.

I give it 50/50 like anything else.  The emu is old news now, but I remember nearly everyone saying that the emulation couldn't have been done in the first place, yet somebody did it.

I'm still not convinced that Saturn can't be run on the XBox, but somebody has to be willing and able to work on it.

We'll see.  Hopefully we get it in FBA at least as well as it was done in the current emu.

Final Burn Alpha adds all of its drivers by porting them from MAME. MAME = SLOW is the safest assumption. For example, most of the Taito drivers run at 20 FPS on the XBOX. There is no way CPS3 would run at or anywhere near what the other CPS3 emulator runs at. That's because the person who ported the CPS3 emulator also wrote the emulator.

I'm not writing an emulator. I'm just porting what is allready written. If it does not run at 60 FPS, then there is nothing I can do. I am also not adding virtual memory to any of the drivers. The few games that require virtual memory allready run perfect in FBA and MAME.

The purpose of what I am doing is only to add the games that are not emulated anywhere else on the Xbox. Anything else (that doesn't require virtual memory) is a bonus.

I actually only ported anything because I wanted to play Galaxy Force, Power Drift, and Thunder Blade. Once I ported Final Burn Alpha, I realized those games played terrible. I then ported the original Final Burn. They then ran perfect. Having done all the work to port Final Burn Alpha, and not wanting it to go to waste, I decided to combine the two. I am almost done with that. After I add a decent GUI, work out the rest of the kinks, then I'll release them both.

I know you smarter folk got all that, but I just heard that we're getting more XBox games.

Thanks NES,
