« Reply #90 on: September 18, 2008, 03:14:00 AM »

I never said I didn't do any videos.  I worked with Horscht for about a week and he came up with a way to easily make the video conversions from emumovies.  Before that, it took me about 5 hours or more to do 50 conversions from AVI to WMV.  Had that not happened, you all might still have only the 45 videos that NES provided you, except for sotu and Horscht that actually made videos for themselves that they shared.  I already have 80% or more of the videos for almost every system.  I plan on sharing them, but people have to work for it.

Again I'll say, anyone who doesn't like it is free to leave.

Any noob that came in here and gets the ZSnesxbox Xtras is lucky that it's out there for them now.  Only a few hours and they got everything we've wanted.

Quit being bitches and just help out so we can get this out there.  Or if not, then just go away so the people working on this can get stuff done.

Hey madmab,

Did you have a good version of the video for "Super Cobra" on the Coleco?  I had a file named Super Cobra, but it was actually just a different video for "Super Cross Force".  This is the only bad video in the set that I've found.

I should have the saves for configurations up for Coleco shortly.  I know you're trying to do something to fix it within the code (way over my head) but at least until/if you get that working you can use these saves to start your games right up without having to go to the trouble of configuring them yourself.  I'll let you know when I post them.

I'll put up the saves anyhow when I get them done.  That way, even if you don't get around to changing anything in the code the controller fixes will still be available with the saves.  I'm almost done.  There are some games that just seem too difficult for me to set with little reward.  Not too many, but all of my fixes and the games I opted not to bother with are all remarked in the spreadsheet.  If you want to take a crack at the remaining ones I'll add those configurations to the completed set and re-release them.  If not, no worries.  I'm never going to play those games anyhow.

Pretty excited about your # 3 and the other things you're going to do too.  Whenever you get around to those videos let me know and I'll pack em up and post them.  No rush.

Thanks madmab,
~Rx

EDIT:  I might be a bit longer than I thought with those saves.  Since the sound engines are different now, I have to go back and fix all of the games I did before.  I also want to make sure that every game has an easy way to restart the game after a game over.  I'm basically making the start button the game start and the select button the reset button for playing the second time around.  This seems to work great with most games.

There are already 3 x-port emu's released that can play videos and one unreleased that cannot.  Have you been paying attention?

As for issues I've seen plenty of co-operation from all people involved except for nay-sayers and I'll leave it at that.  If you wanna get involved, great!  If not then enjoy what is being made available while it is there.

I see no point in releasing videos for an emu until it is ready.  There is a set of colecovision/adamX files being prepped even as we speak.  When the new version of AdamX comes out that supports video previews then that set will be released.  Otherwise that set is kinda useless.

Plus with dual previews in the works we have not quite settled on how it is gonna function.  It will become more obvious as things progress.

I said that with something else that was said with you and xport in another thread one emulator I had on my mind was gba I thought I remembered him saying that it would have problems like the other emulators you mentioned. And if it had problems like I thought was talked about.Just on that emulator alone there would be around 2500 plus videos that are wasted.I was not saying that all would be wasted but it would be a crime if only one emulator that effort was put in didnt work.I have read plenty sometimes I dont get my point communicated the way I want.My point was a little more concentration on what can be done and try to limit people on what maynot be feasable.I figured this was going to be like any other xport feature that it will work on most and have problems on some. The problem is we wont know the true number of the effected emulators until the feature is implemented. It is a catch22 until then.Time will tell soon enough.

As far as I know Winuaex and (possibly) dosxbox are the only emulators that would (possibly) have any issues with movie previews..  All other emulators should be capable of displaying the movies with no issues.

That's what I heard you say before.  Not sure if I have any videos for those systems.  It would be cool to put the ability on if it's possible, but I don't believe that we're going to find many people willing to do videos for either of those anyways.  Not a huge loss if we can't.

Hey run.  I know you PM'd me this, but I'd like to keep things out in the open.  I like the idea of getting help on the screenshot packs.  I'm very particular about the way that I name my roms though.  Which systems are you looking to do first?  We'll collaborrate on the names before you get to work on them.

Below is the PM.  I put "DONE" or "PARTIAL" to show the progress of the screenshot work.  Just because they're DONE though, it's not perfect for uploading anyhow until I get to the system and tweak and perfect it like the SNES and Lynx.  Always some renaming and adding and purging to do in the final sweep or two.  Just letting you know that the ones that are either done or partial I have already done or am partially through.  I plan on doing more in the future.  Got a ton of things happening now though so feel free to take any one that I haven't started.

Thanks in advance for the help,
~Rx

P.S.  Yes, the reposotory has great work.  Got a lot of my stuff from there and emumovies and various other places.  About 15% of the artwork or more for every emu is hand collected from Gamefaqs, romsites, even eBay auctions.  I've collected all of these and have put together the most comprehensive collection of artwork that is available on the internet.  (proove me wrong cool.gif )

All of the work before me is greatly appreciated, as is all of the work going on now and in the future.  Anything that you got is great news to hear.  Any luck uploading the SNES9xBox artwork yet?  I'll get it up there when you finish that.

Which systems are complete?

I have almost everything worth while from the old repository and some of it is superb work. The 7800 for instance is completed and just needs renumbered with dat files there are also many other good pics for the others some have all 4 some dont but all of them need done and I planned on doing them anyway at some point. The real project I got going right now is on hold for parts so I been spinning my wheels with my emulators and linux to keep me fresh doing something new to avoid burnout. So let me know which ones are completed so I can get to what needs to be done instead of something that is already done.I got around 30 xport emulators and all of them are going to get done one way or another.

Let me know?

Here's the save files for my controller/sound configurations madmab (and anyone else).  I still have to make a datfile so your games match my name.  I'll get around to that later.

No I will mail them if someone can do it if I cant.I have tried on rapid share.Mega upload.I tried a torrent think I almost got it I created it anyway but I could get no further than that. The most I have been able to get it to do is 34.5% before it just said done at the bottom and nothing else would happen or it will freeze or say connection interupted.I dont know how to get it done for real it seems like grasping for straws. So I will mail it or maybe someone can tell me exactly what it is I am doing wrong and how to get it corrected.

And just get the dats together for the names and I will change them to whatever. The rom names make no difference to me as long as I can tell what it is and it dont look crazy on samba or relax which has not happened on the systems so far.But I did notice it seems that the ftp is unable to transfer some files.Which makes no sense if your not having problems on znes roms. When ever I use xbox neighborhood it transfers perfectly but flash fxp has problems. It cant transfer all the files some reject transfer.I dont keep my roms on my xbox so samba or relax does not care what the name is to an extent. But folders of the same name has problems going to the xbox.My rom names are a perfect match to your dats.I took the same roms that had problems picking the name on the way the xport emulator reacts to some file names there were several differences I do not know the pattern but I am sure it is there when you try to do the transfer. Some of the files the emulator creates for the file name wont transfer from ftp but is fine when on the xbox or transfered threw xbox neighborhood.Somebody smarter than me can figure out why.But it might cause problems later I dont remember if I had any problems with the dats from atari lynx if I did they were minimal or I would remember.

I'm a pretty big fan of the Amiga myself (was designed by the same guy who made the atari 8-bit machines) and it happens to be my 2nd favorite machine.  So you might see some videos from me.  I also have a handful (over 100) of videos for the atarixlbox emulator.  I redid the ones that came from emumovies cause I didn't like them.  But it may be a while before I can update that emu.  Sadly it's fallen a little behind in the codebase.  Well that and I changed the auto config system and need to rebuild the config database.  tongue.gif

I'll probably do a handful for the msdos emu.  Not a whole lot, but some.  laugh.gif  Dosxbox is such a pain to set up it can get a bit tedious.

I got dual previews working.  Check out my sneak peak video in giles skin thread.  So it's time to get busy!!!  laugh.gif

Amiga will be the next one I start then.It is at least important to have the screenshots at least for it since it will be a toss up on the videos.I do need some dat files before I can start I have to many games of that system alone it is unorganizied it would be impossible for me to get something compatible for everyone.

And what about some kind of swap file for the skin I dont know if its possible or easy done but alot of programs use them.xbmc and linux to name a few.I dont know just trying to throw some ideas around for you.

Not sure why you're having problems with the FTP there run.  Are these on games that the name wasn't changed and they're more than 42 characters (including the extention)?  That's really all I can think of, since all the stuff I uploaded was from an exact mirror of my XBox drive, so I know that they all fit within the filename limits in FATX.

I've got a list of the Amiga games in the compatibility lists now.  That's a ton of games.  I'll have to see how many I renamed and how much more work I'd need to do to finish the dats.  Amiga isn't really on my radar right now, so I don't know how much time I will invest on this in the near future, but eventually I'd like to get to all the emulators.

Here's the list:
IPB Image

Good luck getting that one together guys.  I'll help out where I can.  I got about 10 things I'm in the middle of working on right now.

I will make a list of the games for you and you can see if you have problems with them on transfer. Some of the names the emulator changed when it made the folder for it.I dont know why some seem perfect by the look but the emulator dont like them. That part is no big deal the users should not have any issues with those but they will have a problem  with the other files. It seems for the most part it is the japanese files that are causing the problem there are some U.S. ones but the number of them are small. There is one symbol that I am sure is causing issues I will have to check to be sure what it is but the emulator changes it to something else when it makes the folder.I say this because it will more than likely show its head on some of the other systems if your naming is the same way across the board. You are not going to be able to tell pulling them from the system. The problem is putting them in the system.I will get the list and post it asap.If there are any changes you all want to make it will be better to do it now than after it is released. And if you do make some changes on the dats if it is needed.Let me know what they are and I will make the changes on both snes sets and get them both back to you when we figure out how to get it from here to there. If you give me mailing info I can burn it to disk and send it or as I said before a little more direction on getting it uploaded.

Sure man.  Get me a list of games you're having problems with and I'll see if I can do anything about it.

Let me know if you have the same problem with the following datfiles for Colecovision.  I did them differently and I want to know if it fixed the problem.

Let me know if any of you have any problems setting it up this way.

As I said samba doesnot have a problem with the names or transfering it threw the hood.Flash just wont work with them.

The screenshots for adam transfered perfect I have not got to run my roms threw the dats yet.But everything else should transfer just as easy.I will verify it all later but I got to go pick up the kid now.

Later

Forgot to add the tut for hooking up network play.I got to dig it up but it is easy to do if your box is already networked to the pc or internet.I know who wrote the tut but dont have time now to find it.And I know I am going to spell his name wrong so I dont mean any disrespect if I do.It is written about neogenesis but it is the same for all xport.Cospefogo is the author I will dig it up later.

That's all of them then?

That's strange that they would behave that way.  Obviously those aren't my file names that you posted, so I'm wondering if Romcenter actually renamed the roms or not.  If it did, that's really a mystery to me, if they didn't and the games names are 43 characters or more it would make more sense.

Does the artwork/video transfer fine for you?  If not, you're the first one who has reported any problems with them, and I would assume if they transfered with the same names as your roms there wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for bringing this up.  Always something that can be tweaked here or there.  Never would be able to work out all the kinks on my own.

We should probably have a meeting about which emulators everyone would like to work on next.  I'm just working from one to the next all over the place, but if there's a plan, I can try to help out on the video/screenshot's end.

I know that you already got Amiga started on artwork run088, so that's you're baby.  If I have any videos, I'll remark what I have in the spreadsheet.  (I'm not sure if there are pre-made Amiga videos yet).

Currently, I have videos converted for Genesis, Sega CD, 32x, TG16, TG16CD, NES, Atari Lynx, Atari 2600 and Gameboy.  I will be doing 5200 and 7800 as well as Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance in the near future.

Which videos should I work on next in anticipation of a release madmab?  A full set of Amiga is a pipe dream at this point, but I'd like to get it completed as well someday.  After the base for the emus is complete and you make the Amiga release, would you release one of the above sets so we can get to work on it.  I have no qualms about starting with the Atari systems that I know you like.

Let me know,
